Chapter 172
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Before entering the room, Mitchel stopped and cast a cold glance at the roses on the tea table.
"Do you like those flowers?"
Raegan remembered that Mitchel had never sent flowers to anyone. Not even once.
Not knowing what to say, Raegan murmured, "It depends."
As soon as he said those words, he wished he could take them back.
As expected, Mitchel's expression darkened. Raegan had no intention of disturbing him, but she did so without thinking.
At university, a young man followed her everywhere and secretly put red roses in her books or backpack. For a time, the roses disturbed her and awakened unpleasant memories.
That's why he said that. She didn't want to say she liked flowers because they were from Henley, but Mitchel seemed to get the wrong idea.
In the blink of an eye, Mitchel's mood changed. Instead of entering the room, he placed Raegan on the tea table and pressed her against the roses.
The cold dew from the petals soaked her back, making her shiver.
Raegan clutched at his shirt, trying her best not to crush the delicate roses under her weight, but it was no use.
Why here? There was plenty of space in the room.
âDon't do it here,â Raegan pleaded.
Her eyes filled with tears. She was uncomfortable, as her back crushed the bouquet, but her discomfort only fueled Mitchel's desire.
Mitchel looked down at her and stated firmly, "I want to do it right here."
The crinkling sound of packing paper filled the air. Mitchel stretched and suddenly unwrapped the bouquet of roses from under her back.
The bouquet burst open. Some flowers fell on the table, while others scattered on the floor.
Raegan doubted the tea table could support her weight. Anxious, her heart was pounding, threatening to burst out of her chest.
He pushed Mitchel and stated: -I don't want to do it here...
Let's not do it... Let's not do it then.
Mitchel's piercing gaze met hers and he asked, "Well, do you really want me to stop?"
As soon as he said these words, he released her and stood up.
For a brief moment, Raegan almost believed him.
But at the same time, he didn't want to miss the opportunity to completely sever ties with Mitchel. His offer was like a tempting, sweet red apple.
Raegan was desperate to escape her current situation. She realized that only Mitchel's agreement to end their relationship could truly free her from their tangled lives.
As Mitchel had said, no one but him could change his decision.
After a pause, Raegan asked, "You're serious, right?"
Mitchel looked at her with cold, desireless eyes.
"Isn't that what you want?"
Raegan stared at him and squeezed the collar of his shirt tightly.
«Write it down. "Promise me you won't bother me again."
Mitchel's gaze was deep, framed by long eyelashes. His emotionless gaze made it difficult to decipher his thoughts.
«Of course, I can put it in writing. But what if one day I change my mind? What would you do then?
Raegan was speechless.
That promise had no legal weight. As Mitchel pointed out, if he changed his mind, she wouldn't be able to do anything, much less seek justice.
Deep down, he clung to that promise for comfort.
Perhaps out of fear that he would interfere in her life, she was willing to take the risk.
«You know that the result is unpredictable, right? Are you sure you want to bet on it? Mitchel asked calmly.
Raegan didn't give it much thought. Having been intimate with Mitchel before, I believed it wouldn't be too difficult to do it again.
If he went back on his word, she might consider it a one-night stand. But if he kept his promise, she would be free of him forever.
With this thought, Raegan's doubts disappeared. He pursed his lips and declared, "I believe you because you once promised not to lie to me again."
In his mind, this trick could prevent Mitchel from breaking his promise once again.
If he ever thought about going back on his word, he would remember the same promise he had made to her.
Although she wasn't sure if it was her imagination, Raegan sensed Mitchel's dismay at her decision, perhaps even his anger.
Later, his intuition turned out to be true.
Before kissing her, Mitchel declared: "It's too late to regret it."
His wet lips opened her mouth and captured her soft tongue.
Their tongues intertwined in what seemed like a fiery dance.
It was as if Mitchel wanted to devour her.
Raegan's tongue went numb and her hand shook involuntarily.
The rose petals beneath her crushed onto Raegan's back, giving off a heady scent.
At that moment, Mitchel's hot breath enveloped her, and his actions seemed deliberate, almost devious.
He kissed her lips and then went down...
His lips brushed her chin, stopped at her collarbone, and finally settled on the sensitive spot on her neck.
Raegan trembled and felt a little remorse for not having been able to stop him. After this, I didn't want to go through the same thing again.
But her resolve faltered when Mitchel's lips moved, leaving her breathless.
Suddenly, there was a noise at the door, startling Raegan.
Mitchel frowned, not at the noise but at Raegan's reaction, which almost made him give in.
It wasn't until then that Raegan remembered Nicole's plan to come over tonight.
Yet there they were, intertwined on the tea table in the living room, with no way to hide.
Raegan froze. He silently heard the key turn in the lock.
Judging by the sound, it seemed to be the wrong key. Raegan relaxed a little. But then, he heard another key turn in the lock.
But the door still wouldn't open because he had the wrong key.
With patience wearing thin, Nicole began knocking on the door.
«Raegan, it's me. Open. I can't make out the keys..."
Her slurred speech suggested she was drunk. Otherwise, he would have remembered the whereabouts of the spare key.
Raegan tried to get up, but Mitchel's grip was inflexible. His dark eyes seemed to consume her.
"What's wrong?" he asked, looking into his eyes.
"One second."
His breathing became heavier and more irregular, and beads of sweat rolled down his forehead.
Raegan's eyes widened in shock. He shook his head and struggled.
"Have you lost your mind?"
The outside world faded away, leaving only the frantic beating of his heart.
Raegan felt like she was on a roller coaster, and her adrenaline was pumping...
The moment seemed like an eternity.
On the other side of the door, Nicole accidentally located the correct door key while rummaging through her purse.
Beep! The door burst open.
