Regaining his composure, Davey took Casey's hand with unusual gentleness. "No problem. How are you feeling?
Pressing her forehead, Casey's brow furrowed in discomfort. "I don't know why, but my head hurts."
Davey massaged her temples tenderly and murmured, "I'm going to call a doctor to examine you."
Casey, drained of energy, could only respond with a weak "Okay."
As Davey picked up the phone to call a doctor, Casey, still in bed, asked, "Davey, have you seen my parents?"
âClang!â Davey's phone slipped from his hands and fell to the ground.
Davey's gaze, intense and icy, fixed on Casey, his presence was chilling.
Casey, seemingly oblivious to the tension, gently reminded him, "Davey, you dropped your phone."
Ignoring the dropped phone, Davey asked, âWhat did you just mention?â
"About what?" Still dazed, Casey pondered before answering, âMy father⦠Where are my parents? They're not here, are they?
Davey's gaze turned icy as he scanned the room. It was a replica of his bedroom, which justified his confusion. "Casey, regarding your parents..."
Davey's attempt at an explanation was cut off by Casey's interruption.
«Could you call my mother? She is probably worried since she had been unconscious beforeâ¦â
Davey remained silent, his dark eyes fixed on her, full of unspoken words. Pausing, he echoed her words: âIs your mother worried?â
«Yes, why? What is happening?
âCaseyâ¦â Davey addressed her with a touch of coldness in his voice.
"Have you forgotten something important?"
Casey's eyes, wide and bewildered, reflected her confusion. "What should I remember?"
Davey continued to inquire: "Casey, how many years have you lived?"
"I'm 18, right?"
Davey responded evenly: "What about me?"
With a playful giggle, Casey replied, "Isn't it obvious? You're 19, Davey, my family's best protector!
Davey didn't answer a word.
Casey gave him an appreciative look, joking, "How long was my nap?" You look much older, almost like you're thirty years old. Maybe you should try some of my skin care products. It seems that time has not treated you well.
