Chapter 695

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

? ? ? ? ?

Mitchel's hand stopped on the seat belt when his phone interrupted the moment. Luis was on the other side.

Anticipating a casual call, Mitchel dismissed it, only to see Luis's name flash again. "Yes?" he answered on the second ring.

Luis's serious tone met Mitchel. "The laboratory results have arrived."

Mitchel frowned. "What results?" he probed.

"The blood test that my contact abroad did on you while you were unconscious the other day," Luis explained.

A moment passed. "AND?" Mitchell insisted.

With great seriousness, Luis revealed: «They administered a virus known as “Mutant” to you. It was smuggled out and sold by someone in Swynborough's bioresearch sector. There are only two pairs in the entire world, and there is no antidote.

Mitchel let out a heavy sigh as he processed the information.

"You say there are only two pairs and they injected me with one?"

Luis's surprise at Mitchel's sensible reaction was palpable.

Although panic would have been normal, Mitchel was astute enough to pick up a vital part of the conversation.

«Yes, “Mutante” is given in pairs,” said Luis.

Luis went on to clarify that the creators of "Mutant" had discovered that a single dose was benign. Only with a second injection would the real problem begin, triggering the mutation.

Mitchel digested this with a blink of relief. So Lauren's one shot hasn't put me in immediate danger?

"That's how it is".

Mitchel contemplated this revelation in silence, his mind racing.

After a pause, Luis warned Mitchel to stay alert. For the moment, Lauren was out of the game and her fate was scheduled for a few days.

Mitchel then delved into the most pressing question. "How did Lauren get access to such a virus?"

Such a thing was beyond the reach of the fortified laboratories of Swynborough, and certainly beyond the reach of the Murray family.

Luis admitted to his ongoing investigation, but revealed that a pair of "mutants" were with the Maxwells in Aurora.

The mention of the Maxwell lineage brought a darker shadow to Mitchel's expression. His next words were agitated. "If the second injection finds me, what is my timeline?"

There was reluctance in Luis's voice, an impulse toward Mitchel's self-preservation, but Mitchel was adamant. «The whole truth. "I have to know," he insisted gravely.

Luis's voice had a soft but serious note. "Three months."

The words hung in the air as Mitchel repeated them, seeking confirmation.
