Chapter 777
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 777:
? ? ? ? ?
The woman happily introduced Nicole to Jarrod: "Mr. Schultz, here's a lovely lady who also wants to thank you."
Jarrod's gaze was calm and penetrating as he looked at Nicole, who seemed lifeless, and he offered a slight smile. «Oh, yes? Thank me for what?
Surprised by his question, the woman turned to Nicole and urged, âMiss, what do you want to thank Mr. Schultz for? Please, it's right here..."
The harsh white light illuminated Nicole's face, accentuating the blue veins under her pale skin. His face was unnaturally pale, almost ghostly, which was alarming.
The woman's cheerful mood faded as she realized Nicole's ghostly appearance. He grabbed Nicole's hand and asked, âMiss, why are your hands so cold? Should we take her to a hospital?
Nicole felt completely weak, but she told herself to keep her composure. He couldn't afford to collapse just as Jarrod had freed himself.
"Are you feeling sick?" Jarrod asked as he tried to remove Nicole's hand, his voice softer than usual.
"Do not touch me!" Nicole, like a frightened bird, quickly backed away and looked at Jarrod with wide eyes.
Nicole's eyes, full of disgust, disgust, and determination, showed no sign of gratitude. The woman, with her mouth open, realized that she might have misinterpreted the situation.
Moved by compassion, the woman supported the weak Nicole, saying: "Miss, don't be scared..."
The atmosphere suddenly became tense.
The woman hesitated to say anything else, realizing that her good intentions could have caused this awkward situation. Mr. Schultz was considered a decent man, and Nicole, with a worried look, seemed far from malicious.
It wasn't clear who was really good or bad here.
âJarrod!â A cheerful woman's voice cut through the awkward silence.
Vicki, dressed in a flowing white designer dress, walked briskly over and handed a bouquet of flowers to Jarrod, saying, "Jarrod, congratulations on your exoneration."
Jarrod accepted it, replying simply, "Thank you."
Vicki, satisfied just to receive his gratitude, suggested, "You should treat me to a nice dinner."
Jarrod glanced briefly at Nicole before focusing on Vicki, his expression turning tender. "Come on".
The two walked away together.
Nicole felt as if her entire body was drenched in sweat, her legs shaking. Luckily, the woman was there to hold her.
Nicole realized late that she had miscalculated. He had been completely wrong. He hadn't even considered Vicki, which was incredibly stupid of him.
The woman, seeing the sweat on Nicole's forehead, showed her concern.
âMiss, maybe we should go to the hospital.â
"No, thanks." Nicole withdrew from the woman's grasp and quickly followed the path Jarrod and Vicki had taken.
