Chapter 1166
Mistaking a Magnate for a Male Escort
âW-What happened to you?â
Charlotte could sense that something was off, but she couldnât quite pinpoint it.
âI am dealing with some issues in the headquarter in M Nation now,â replied Zachary grimly, âI got some minor injuries.â
âAre you okay?â
Charlotte frowned deeply. She remembered how Zachary was literally stabbed in the back. That cut was deep, but he never even moaned when they stitched him back together. His voice right now suggests that it is not a minor injury at all.
âAre you worried about me?â asked Zachary softly.
âThe kids are,â replied Charlotte, who instantly became annoyed. She handed the phone over to Robbie and informed him, âItâs your daddy.â
Robbie took the phone right away and greeted excitedly, âDaddy!â
âRobbie.â
It had been a while since Zachary heard his sonâs voice. Hearing Robbie calling him Daddy made him feel all better.
It felt like the pain he was enduring suddenly eased up.
âDaddy, are you okay?â asked Robbie in a worried tone, âWhy did you turn your phone off? I couldnât find you for a while. What happened?â
âI have been working in M Nation and canât get to my phone,â replied Zachary sweetly, âItâs getting colder in Xendale. Are you and Ellie adapting well there? How is her treatment going?â
âEllie and I are fine. Sheâs recovering well, tooâ¦â
Robbie spoke discreetly and left out the part where they were in F Nation at that moment.
âIâm glad to hear that.â
âRobbie, is that Daddy?â asked Ellie, who saw them and hurried over to request, âI want to talk to him too.â
Robbie handed the phone over, and Ellie shouted into it immediately after. âDaddy, Daddy!â
âEllieâ¦â
âDaddy,â said Ellie. She couldnât help sobbing a little as soon as she heard her dadâs voice. She shared, âI miss you so much, Daddy. Why didnât you call us?â
âBe good, Ellie. I miss you too,â cooed Zachary softly, âI have been working in M Nation, so I couldnât get to my phone.â
âYou truly frightened me. Robbie and I were so worried about you and thought that something bad mightâve happened,â replied Ellie as she wiped her tears away.
âSilly kid. Daddy is fine. Itâs cold in Xendale, so remember to put on thicker coats to stay warm, okay? That way, you wonât catch a cold. I will go pick you up as soon as you recover.â
âWeâre not in Xendale now, Daddy. Weâre in Arkfield. Itâs so pretty here, and the vineyard is so bigâ¦â
Ellie got excited the second the topic involved the manor. She neglected the warning that Robbie was signaling with his eyes and kept talking.
âDr. Felch and I went to the winery and the vineyard today. We picked so many grapes, and they are so sweet. We also went to the pastureâ¦â
âEllie,â interrupted Robbie, âLet me talk to Daddy.â
âOkay,â murmured Ellie before she returned the phone unwillingly.
âBe good, Ellie, and go play with the others,â cooed Charlotte to get Ellie to leave.
âDaddy, are you really okay?â asked Robbie softly.
âIâm fine,â promised Zachary, âDonât worry. I promised Iâd go to you when that day comes, and I will keep that promise.â
âIâm glad to hear that.â
âHand the phone back to your mommy,â instructed Zachary.
âOkay,â replied Robbie before he handed the phone to Charlotte. He looked a little worried at the time.
âGo play with the others,â cooed Charlotte as she stroked Robbieâs tiny head.
âOkay,â muttered Robbie before he left quietly.
âWhat?â asked Charlotte to get right to the point.
âWhy did you go to F Nation?â asked Zachary, who was being just as direct.
âWhat does that have to do with you?â challenged Charlotte icily.
Zachary took a deep breath like he was trying his best to suppress something. He forced himself to calm down as much as possible before he made his offer.
âYou can come back to H City if things are bad in Erihal. My men will protect everyone, and you didnât need to travel all the way to F Nation. The Laurent family might be royalty, but they are inexperienced in dealing with hooligansâ¦â
âEnough,â interrupted Charlotte, âDanrique sent some men to protect us, so there is no need for you to worry. Iâll hang up now if there is nothing else youâd like to share.â
