Chapter 1313
Mistaking a Magnate for a Male Escort
After Zachary signed the last document, he drawled, âGo.â
âYes.â Ben quickly did as told.
Right then, Bruce showed up and announced excitedly, âMs. Lindberg has moved into Northridge. Morgan arrived first with the kids and had been busy ever since. Ms. Lindberg is on the way there.â
âMm.â Zachary promptly relaxed at the news. His tone turned gentle as he said, âThe kids told me last night that theyâll be spending the night there today. Tell Marino to give them a ride there.â
âYes, Iâve informed Marino about that.â Sensing Zacharyâs delight, Bruce beamed and asked, âShould you head back home earlier today to keep Ms. Lindberg companyââ
âNo need,â Zachary interjected, his expression turning downcast. âWeâve agreed to stay out of each otherâs way.â
âThenâ¦â
âHead over to check the villa,â Zachary instructed. âIt has been empty for a few months, so some pests mightâve built their nest there. There might also be some wild animals or something inside. The women are afraid of stuff like that, so bring some men along to deal with that. See if they need any help.â
âGot it, Iâll get to it right away!â Bruce replied and got to work immediately.
After he disappeared out of sight, Ben led Robert and his subordinates in. Robert boomed out from afar, âZachary, itâs hard to meet you in person!â
âWhy didnât you inform me prior to your arrival, Sir Robert? I couldâve picked you up from the airport.â Zachary rose to his feet and greeted the old man. âWhat a surprise to see you in my company!â
Robert threw his head back and guffawed out loud. âI decided to visit on a whim. Sorry for the sudden visit.â
âItâs fine. Have a seat,â Zachary answered politely.
Lucy and the other two secretaries busied themselves with preparing coffee and snacks for the guests.
Ben and Robertâs subordinates stood behind their respective employers.
âZachary, I didnât get to give you a warm welcome in Pillere back then. This time, I brought something amazing for you,â said Robert.
He gestured for his subordinates to place two intricate silver boxes on the desk before he opened them carefully.
Expensive jewelry appeared in everyoneâs sight. The jewelry seemed to be antiques, even to the naked eye.
âThese are left behind by a royal princess, and my wife adores them. She kept them locked up and had never worn them, but now, she wants me to give them to you as a token of her apology,â Robert revealed, trying to butter up to him.
He added, âThe jewelry had been auctioned off for over three hundred million twenty years ago, so their value mustâve increased by now. Most importantly, thereâs a legend saying whoever wears them will be blissfully happy in love!â
âOh, three hundred million. Thatâs an exorbitant amount, even by todayâs standards,â drawled Zachary as he glanced at the jewelry. Calmly, he continued, âAs a man, Iâm not interested in jewelry. I canât appreciate your gift, Sir Robert.â
âYou can gift them to your future wife,â Robert suggested gleefully. âThen hand them down to your daughters. I promise theyâll love this!â
âRight,â Zachary mused with a nod. âThank you, then!â
âYouâre welcome.â Robert was thrilled that his gift had been accepted. âZachary, Iâm here toâ¦â
He trailed off as Lucy showed up with coffee and snacks.
âThe coffee here might not be as good as yours,â Zachary stated politely. âHave a sip. If itâs not good, allow me to offer you a stiff drink.â
Robert merely laughed. âZachary, youâre hilarious.â
He took one sip of the coffee and glanced around.
Knowing what he wanted, Zachary dismissed Lucy and the secretaries with a wave.
