Chapter 1314
Mistaking a Magnate for a Male Escort
âIâm here to discuss the Gymnasium Project, Zachary,â Robert finally revealed why he was here. âI believe youâve read the relevant documents. As the other shareholders are fine with it, we just need your signature.â
âThe other shareholders are fine with it?â Zachary arched an eyebrow. âAre they waiting for my decision?â
He knew the shareholders wouldnât dare to say a word before he did.
âHa! Of course,â Robert replied with an awkward grin. âYou need to approve it.â
âMm, Iâm going to be the bad guy.â Zachary sipped on his coffee.
âErâ¦â Robert had no idea Zachary was going to be this difficult. Though he was upset, he had to tamp down his irritation to persuade Zachary.
âYouâre the most influential person in the corporate world. No one will dare to question your decision, but that doesnât mean youâre a bad guy.â
âWhy not? Signing the document means offending my childrenâs mommy.â Zachary didnât bother mincing his words. âIf it was someone else, never mind. Sheâs the only person I dare not provoke!â
Silence surrounded them as Robertâs brows snapped together. âDidnât you break up with her a while ago?â he asked, confused. âShe did that to you, didnât she? Why are you stillâ¦â
He paused, changing his words so he wouldnât sound so harsh. âThe Nacht family and Lindberg family are at odds, and you arenât related to her anymore. Why are you so afraid of her? I donât get it.â
He ended with a careful question.
âI canât help it.â Zachary shrugged helplessly. âSheâs the mother of my children, and they listen to her. If sheâs upset and complains to them, Iâll have to suffer.â
Robert was speechless. It was clearly an excuse, but he couldnât find a plausible reason to retort that excuse of Zachary.
âYou shouldnât be asking for my signature.â Zachary pushed the jewelry boxes back to him. âInstead, go to the person involved. If you donât want her to get involved in the project, go to her personally,â he declared with a smile.
âBut Iââ
âOh, I just remembered I have an appointment.â Zachary seemed torn. âWhy donât you join me?â
âNo need,â Robert responded stiffly. He stood up and made to leave.
âHey, Sir Robert!â Zachary called, pointing at the silver boxes. âTake these with you. Perhaps you might need it when your son gets you a daughter-in-law.â
His words sent a course of annoyance throughout Robertâs being.
Robert was wordless with rage as he spun on his heels and marched away.
His subordinates glanced at the boxes, wondering if they should take the boxes with them.
Ben shut the box and handed it to them. âTake it. They are worth millions.â
The men grabbed both boxes before dashing away to catch up to Robert.
âShould I send him off?â Ben asked.
âTell him I can compensate him for the cars I destroyed back in Pillere,â Zachary uttered, swirling the glass in his hand slowly.
Ben let out a snort and nodded. âGot it.â
He then ran out after their visitors.
Lucy came in to clear up the mess. She offered carefully, âMr. Nacht, I heard that Sir Louis is in H City.â
Zachary was sipping on his wine when he heard what she had to say. He froze and furrowed his brows immediately.
Is Louis here for Charlotte? How could I have missed that? That sly fox must be going all out to get what he wants.
He canât do it himself, so he asked for Louisâ help to get Charlotte to quit herself?
