Chapter 1341
Mistaking a Magnate for a Male Escort
Ben pouted aggrievedly, not daring to utter a word.
âDonât take it out on him,â Zachary said calmly. âThe truth is Iâve been struck with an incurable disease, and I donât know how much longer Iâll live. Thatâs why I drafted this willâjust in case anything happens.â
âWhat?â Flabbergasted, Spencer fell into a daze and snapped back to reality after a long while. âWhat incurable disease? Are you joking around, Mr. Zachary? D-D-Donât do this to a geezer like me. I wonât be able to take it at this age.â
âIâm not joking,â Zachary answered coolly. âDo you remember Cynthia Blackwood?â
âYouâre talking about Taylor Blackwoodâs eldest daughter, right? Yes, I do remember her. But why are you bringing her up now?â Spencer replied anxiously.
âAfter I exposed her tricks in front of Grandpa back then, she threw some poison at Charlotte, but I took the bullet instead.â
Zachary recounted the previous incident calmly and sighed.
âShe shot me a vicious look before being taken away by the cops, signing that I would join her soon. I thought nothing of it at first, and it was only later that I realized what she had meant. I never expected the poison to be so deadly that Iâd fall sick from it just by getting some in my eyes.â
âHow could this have happened? That horrible woman!â Spencer shook with rage. âHave you talked to Dr. Felch?
Heâs an expert in toxins, isnât he? If he could cure both Charlotte and Ellie, surely heâd be able to help you tooââ
âItâs too late,â Zachary cut him off. âDr. Felch has passed away.â
Spencer froze in astonishment. âHeâs gone? When did that happen?â
âJust a few days ago. Charlotte and I sent him off after taking care of everything necessary,â Zachary answered flatly. âThatâs why thereâs no one who can cure me anymore.â
âHow is that possibleâ¦â Spencer refused to accept the truth. âNo, there has to be another way.â
âThereâs a guy called Francesco, who used to be Dr. Felchâs apprentice. Weâve been searching for him all this while, but we havenât got a clue about his whereabouts,â Ben chimed in.
âDonât ever give up as long as thereâs hope,â insisted Spencer. âI know Francesco. Heâs a close friend of Danrique Lindberg. Youâll be able to find him if you find Danrique.â
âWeâve been looking for him too, but heâs also currently missing,â Ben responded softly.
âHow useless could you be? You canât even locate a guy!â Spencer was so infuriated that he hit Ben with his crutch.
âI trained both you and Bruce, and this is all youâre capable of?â
âIâm sorry, Mr. Spencer.â
Ben looked down in shame.
Indeed, he felt extremely remorseful after being reprimanded by Spencer, and he despised himself for not being able to find Francesco.
All their problems would have been solved long ago otherwise.
Spencer glared at Ben before turning to Zachary. âBy the way, were you receiving treatment during your two-
month disappearance? Did Dr. Felch not come up with any way to cure you?â
âDr. Felch had followed Ms. Lindberg to Erihal at that time, so we had another medical team assist usââ Ben blurted out.
âShut your mouth!â Zachary cut him off with a glare. âYouâve grown some guts, havenât you? How dare you interrupt me while Iâm talking to Mr. Spencer?â
âIâm terribly sorry.â Ben hastily backed away, afraid to say anything more.
âYou shouldâve gotten Dr. Felch to help you back then! Why didnât you?â Spencer demanded frantically. âDoes Charlotte know youâve been poisoned?â
âShe doesnât.â Zachary hastened to explain, âEllie was also poisoned back then and needed Dr. Felch. Thereâs no way Iâd have gotten him to treat me instead of them.â
