Chapter 1368
Mistaking a Magnate for a Male Escort
Charlotte knew Zachary was intractable. He would never show his vulnerability before his family.
He would not breathe a word even if she asked. It would only bother him further, so Charlotte decided to just swallow her question.
âAlright. Iâll let you off the hook this time.â Zachary let her go reluctantly.
Charlotte got out of the bed and pulled on a cardigan before going over to wash up. She changed into a new set of clothes and came over to help Zachary wash up.
She had never taken care of other people. The maids at home saw to it that she did not need to lift a finger to take care of anything at home in the past two years, but it felt so natural for her to attend to Zachary.
Zacharyâs heart warmed looking at her. It reminded her of the days they spent together. Everything was so blissful and now there was finally a chance for them to resume their relationship.
âAll done.â Charlotte wiped Zacharyâs hands clean and headed for the door.
âGood morning, Ms. Lindberg.â
Ben, Raina, Lupine, and the others greeted her the moment they saw her coming out from the ward.
âCome on in,â she said.
âYes.â The tree headed in. Ben went over and stood beside Zachary while Raina checked on his wounds.
As for Lupine, she went next to Charlotte and reported back on her work. âThe private jet is ready. Itâs ready for takeoff at two in the afternoon.
âNoted.â Charlotte nodded.
âI want to go home if thereâs nothing else to do at the hospital,â Zachary said.
Raina was concerned and tried changing his mind. âThis is not a minor wound, Mr. Nacht. Itâll be better to stay for a few more days. I know that Southridge has a hospital as well, but their equipment and facility are not as extensive.
Itâs better to stay at this hospital. Weâll be able to offer the best care in caseâ¦â
âIn case?â Zachary cut her short impatiently, âThere wonât be any emergency. Thereâs no need to be paranoid.â
âButâ¦â
Raina hushed when she met Zacharyâs fierce glare.
She looked at Ben beseechingly for help, but to her dismay, Ben did not object.
âAlright. Iâll make the necessary arrangement.â
Raina knew all hope was gone.
âGreat,â Zachary said, turning toward Charlotte. âGet over here.â
Charlotteâs brows stitched looking at him. Seriously. Heâs showing his true color just when heâs getting better.
âWhat do you want?â she said begrudgingly, going over.
Zachary pulled her hand. âYouâre moving back home.â
âWhat?â
âI was injured because of you. You have a price to pay.â
Charlotte wanted to refute, but she knew there was no good reason for her to reject him.
âWhat about the kids?â This was the best excuse she could give.
âTheyâre coming back as well,â Zachary said. He wanted the whole family reunited. The thought of having the whole family back together put a smile on his face. âI can still read them bedtime stories even though Iâm sick.â
âI mean the three girls. We canât just leave them in Northridge.â
âItâs true that they are a handful, but theyâre adorable. Bring them along.â The smile on his face deepened.
âWhat?â Charlotte knew Zachary was fond of children. He knew how to deal with kids well, but still, those girls were his enemyâs children.
There was no way he would want to be under the same roof with them all the time.
âThey are very playful. Itâll be difficult to control all of them in one go. What about you go home and rest first. I have something to do for the next few days. Iâll drop by your place after that.â
âWhere are you going? Youâre not leaving.â Zacharyâs grip tightened around her hand.
