Chapter 386
Mistaking a Magnate for a Male Escort
Indeed, soon after Charlotte returned to level 68, Spencer arrived with the bodyguards in two. âPlease come with us!â
âHuh?â Charlotte was puzzled.
Spencer made a gesture with his hand, and the bodyguards immediately dragged her out as instructed.
âWhat are you doing?â Charlotte demanded. âLet me go! Let me go!â
Soon enough, she was brought to the conference hall on the sixty-sixth floor.Henry was seated on the presidentâs chair with his cane in one hand while staring daggers at her.
âWhy did you take me here?â Charlotte demanded angrily.
âNever mind if you were born in a lowly family. I canât believe youâre this wicked!â Henry uttered icily.
âHow dare you poison Sharon?â
harlotteâs eyes widened in shock.
It took her a while to regain her composure. âI donât know what youâre talking about!â she exclaimed. âI never did that!â
âStop trying to defend yourself.â Henry didnât want to waste time. âIf you come clean, I might consider letting you off!â
âI didnât do that!â Charlotte panicked instantly. âDo you have evidence pointing it at me? Donât frame me for something I didnât do.â
Henryâs brows puckered up in annoyance.
Spencer replied on his behalf. âMs. Blackwood ate nothing else except for the coffee you prepared for her earlier. Half an hour ago, she collapsed and is now unconscious.â
Charlotte froze in her tracks. Yes, I shouldâve known it when Sharon told me to prepare a cup of coffee for her today. She didnât make things difficult on purpose and even thanked me.
I was wondering why she was being nice today. Turns out she had set up a trap for me.
âYou have nothing else to say?â Spencer asked.
âAre you pinning the blame on me just because she drank the cup of coffee I prepared for her?â
Charlotte retaliated in a state of panic. âAny excuse will serve a tyrant. No one is sure whether she ate something else after that. Besides, she went to the seventeenth floor at noon for lunch.â
âWe wonât arrest you without reason.â
Spencer snapped his fingers. The bodyguards whipped out a coffee mug wrapped in a sealed package with the remains of the coffee.
âI sent someone to pick up this coffee mug from Mr. Zacharyâs office and ran a test. The coffee was indeed poisoned,â he announced, pointing at the sealed package.
Charlotteâs eyes went round at the shocking piece of news. Did Sharon seriously poisoned her own coffee to frame me?
âLetâs stop wasting our time with her,â ordered Henry. âCall the police and hand her along with the evidence to them.â
âYes!â Spencer nodded and proceeded to carry out his order.
âI didnât do it!â Charlotte pleaded. âThink about it. If it was me, why didnât I dispose of the mug after she finished it? Why would I leave it there for you to discover it?â
Refusing to hear her explanation, Henry dismissed her with a wave.
The bodyguards took a step forward, about to drag her out.
âWait a minute!â Right then, Zachary rushed in. He had taken his blazer off, leaving his shirt on. There were bloodstains on his shirt which he hadnât managed to wipe away.
âGrandpa, since it happened in my company, let me investigate the incident,â he suggested.
âSpencer has found out everything,â declared Henry coolly. âWhy? Isnât the evidence enough to pin her to the incident?â
âThe evidence proves nothing.â Zachary glanced at Charlotte. âI know her. Sheâs foolish and cowardly.
Thereâs no way sheâll poison someone.â
âThen, pray tell. What about this cup of coffee?â Henry pointed at the coffee mug with his cane. âDid someone try to frame her?âq
