Chapter 621
Mistaking a Magnate for a Male Escort
âWhat happened?â Charlotte asked at once.
âIâm in debt, and they took meâ¦â Olivia wept, the horror clear in her voice. âPlease help me, or Iâm going to die.â
âWhere are you? Tell me your location.â
Charlotte brushed off the foam and rushed to change her clothes.
âAt the alley behind Sultry Night,â Olivia said in a shaky voice. âCome alone, or theyâll kill me.â Olivia hung up.
Charlotte got dressed, grabbed her phone, and rushed out.
âMs. Windt, breakfast isââ the maid said, but Charlotte brushed past her shoulder and ran down the stairs in her haste.
âMs. Windt, Ms. Windt!â the maid shouted behind her.
âI have an urgent matter to handle. Iâll be back shortly.â Charlotte turned back and called. Downstairs, she addressed the bodyguards who were parking their cars. âDrop me off at Sultry Night. Hurry.â
âSultry Night?â Marino stared in surprise.
âYes, please. Right now,â Charlotte answered in a panic.
âYes, maâam.â Marino did not dare delay further and opened the door immediately.
âMs. Windt, where are you off to?â Mrs. Berry, who was busy laying the table, ran out to enquire. âYou have your wedding shoot by the beach later today.â
âMrs. Berry, I have an urgent matter and will be back shortly. Please inform Zachary of my absence.â
Charlotte got into the car without waiting for a reply. âStart driving!â she said to Marino frantically.
âYes, maâam.â
In the study on the second floor, where Zachary was reading with the children, a knock came on the door. The maid peered carefully in at Zachary. âMr. Nacht, Ms. Windt went out,â she reported.
âHuh?â Zachary looked away from the book he was holding. âWhere to?â
âI donât know. She looked like she was in a rush. Iâm worried that something may have happened,â the maid said concernedly. âI thought you would be worried, so Iâm just here to let you know.â
Zachary shut the book and addressed the children. âLetâs continue this tonight, shall we?â
âYes, daddy!â The children nodded obediently.
âDaddy, use my bookmark. Or else we wouldnât remember where we left off tonight.â
Ellie handed a bookmark made of a beautifully preserved leaf to Zachary.
âPage 234.â Zachary smiled and rubbed Ellie on the nose. âDonât worry, I have a photographic memory!â
He got up and walked towards the door. âCome down for breakfast in a bit.â
âAlright, Daddy!â the children chorused in sweet innocent voices.
âRobbie, what is a photographic memory?â Ellie asked naively.
âThat means daddy never forgets anything he sees,â said Robbie as he was tidying up the bookshelf.
âDaddy is a genius!â
âOh, only you have daddyâs brains. Ellie and I donât,â said Jamie as he held his chin sadly.
âJamie, you are strong and sporty like daddy,â protested Robbie. âEllie has Mommyâs artistic skills.
Those are great qualities. Please donât underestimate yourselves.â
âWhat is underestimate?â
âThat meansâ¦â
The three children engaged in debates in the study room.
Meanwhile, Zachary summoned Ben outside. âWhat is going on?â
âIâve just heard back from Marino. Ms. Windt just said that she was going to Sultry Night and did not explain why,â Ben reported. âBruce is going there with some men as a backup.â
âGood,â Zachary said with a frown. Charlotte is so impulsive. She never discusses things with me before proceedingâ¦
How immature.
âDonât worry, Mr. Nacht. Nothing will happen with Bruce on the lookout,â said Ben comfortingly. âWhy donât you have some breakfast with the children? I will have Bruce deliver Ms. Windt straight to the beach afterward for your photoshoot.â
âAlright.â
