Chapter 976
Mistaking a Magnate for a Male Escort
âMorning!â Zachary greeted as he slowly pushed Henry to the dining table. âWhere are your manners?â
âGood morning, Great-grandpa,â greeted the triplets.
âGood day.â Henry didnât seem too well that morning. He looked wan, showing he didnât have a good nightâs rest. Yet, he managed an affectionate smile for the kids.
He frowned at Ellie. âWhy are you so thin?â
âIâm not feeling well, Great-grandpa.â
She answered arduously, followed by a string of coughs.
âHow are you feeling, Ellie?â Charlotte immediately patted Ellieâs back gently. âItâs chilly here. Let me take you upstairs.â
Charlotte hadnât wanted to deal with Henry. She was planning to leave right after sending Ellie back to her room.
âHave Mrs. Rawlston send her instead,â Zachary insisted. âRobbie and Jamie, have you finished? Go upstairs and accompany Ellie.â
âBut Iâm not full yet-â
Before Jamie got to finish, Zachary cast him a glance to silence him.
Jamie soon realized Zachary wanted them upstairs. And so the former took a handful of hot cross bunnies, got up, then trailed after Mrs. Rawlston and Ellie.
âMommyâ¦â Robbie worried about Charlotte being ill-treated without them there.
âGo ahead.â Charlotte ruffled Robbieâs head and comforted softly, âDonât worry. Iâll come and pick you guys up soon.â
âBut they-â Henry opened his mouth to speak, but when he caught Robbieâs sharp gaze, the former snapped his mouth shut.
Robbie embraced Charlotte then turned to Zachary. âDaddy, do you remember the promise you made to me to protect Mommy two years ago?â
âI remember.â Zachary stared at Robbie. âI wonât break that promise. Believe me.â
Robbie was taken aback by the determined look in Zacharyâs eyes. It was a rare sight to see.
âAll right.â Robbie decided to believe in Zachary. âI believe you.â
âGood boy. Head upstairs then.â
Zachary cast a knowing glance at Bruce. The latter left with Robbieâs hand in tow, leading some staff upstairs to protect the kids.
Zachary finally shifted his focus to Taylor and Cynthia. âCome sit with us and have some breakfast.â
âNo thanks.â Taylor swiftly averted his gaze after a cursory glance at Charlotte. âCynthia and I will be heading back to our room.â
Taylor was pulling Cynthia to leave as he spoke.
âSit,â Henry instructed arrogantly. âYouâre in the Nachtsâ residence and my esteemed guests. We have nothing to hide from you.â
âThisâ¦â Taylor was conflicted.
âGrandpa is right.â Zachary added politely, âPlease have a seat.â
Taylor turned confident when he noted Zacharyâs bias attitude toward them. After exchanging eye contact with Cynthia, they both took a seat.
âWhy sit so far away?â Henry asked. âCome closer.â
The father and daughter moved closer to the head of the table. Taylor ended up beside Henry while Cynthia beside Zachary.
Meanwhile, Charlotte merely sipped her tea silently.
However, if one would notice, her fingers on the teacup had tightened.
âMrs. Rawlston, bring a few more dishes for our new company,â ordered Zachary.
âYes, sir.â
Molly was furious but could only follow her employerâs instructions.
Lupine was furious as well at Zacharyâs attitude. âMs. Lindberg, letâs leave.â
Charlotte finally set her teacup onto the table and lifted her gaze, settling on Zachary. âIâll come to pick up the kids seven days later. If anything happens to them, you will pay for it.â
She rose, preparing to leave.
âYou sure talk brave for someone so powerless,â Henry taunted. âDo you think you can pick up the kids any time you want? They are the Nachts. Nobody can take them away.â
âTry me,â Charlotte retorted.
