Chapter 33 Chance Encounter

Xia Yan had arranged for Jiang Tong to meet her and told her to make Grandma something to eat.

Although Aunt Cui was familiar with grandma’s taste, she spent most of her time with Xia Yan’s grandma in the hospital. It would be too tiring for Aunt Cui to go home and cook.

Since it took Xia Yan a long time to leave the Mo residence last time, Xia Yan had arranged for Jiang Tong to meet her one kilometer away from the Mo residence.

“I saw a luxury car pass by just now. I thought you would be in there.” Jiang Tong looked at Xia Yan, heavily panting as she entered the car.

Xia Yan placed her backpack in the car’s back seat and shrugged. “I don’t have the status to ride in the Mo family’s car.”

Jiang Tong glanced at Xia Yan from the corner of his eyes, chuckled, and stepped on the gas pedal.

“Hello, Old Madam Mo, you must be tired from your journey.” Qiu Xin smiled as she welcomed Old Madam Mo.

Old Madam Mo only frowned and asked indifferently, “Where is Mo He?”

Qiu Xin lowered her head as she smiled, “Mo He asked me to come and pick you up on his behalf.”

When Old Madam Mo heard this, her face sank. “Why would Mo He send an outsider to pick me up?”

Qiu Xin bit her lower lip when she heard that. “Let’s get you home, Old Madam Mo. We have prepared everything you need at the manor.”

Old Madam Mo ignored Qiu Xin. She only said, “Let’s go to the old residence, Lian Sao.”

Qiu Xin’s expression changed when she heard that Old Madam Mo wanted to go to the old residence instead. But she had no right to stop Old Madam Mo since she had already given the order.

Old Madam Mo and Lian Sao sat in the back while Qiu Xin sat in the front passenger seat.

Meanwhile, the housekeeper rushed into the living room and said anxiously, “Madam Mo, something terrible has happened! Old Madam Mo and Miss Qiu are in serious trouble!”

Jiang Qiu was preparing to send a gift to the manor when she heard the housekeeper’s words. The gift in her hand fell to the ground with a smack. “What did you say?”

The housekeeper hurriedly reported the situation. “Old Madam Mo and the others got into an accident! They are being rushed to the hospital as we speak!”

Jiang Qiu stumbled backward. Fortunately, Aunt Lin was there to catch her. “Aunt Lin, call for a driver. We need to go to the hospital!” Aunt Lin nodded and quickly called for a driver.

“Housekeeper, contact Young Master Mo and inform him about this!” Jiang Qiu ordered.

“I’ve already reported it to Young Master Mo!” The housekeeper said with his head lowered.

“Xiao Yan? Why are you here?” Grandma immediately smiled when she saw her granddaughter and Jiang Tong.

“Don’t you want to see me, Grandma?” Xia Yan approached the bedside and held Grandma’s hand as she said coquettishly.

“Nonsense!” Grandma gently patted Xia Yan’s hand. “I was afraid that you would be tired from running back and forth! Also, does the Mo family mind that you run around so often?” Grandma asked with concern.

Xia Yan shook her head and avoided Grandma’s question. “Grandma, Jiang Tong brought her famous fish congee for you. Try some!” Xia Yan said as she scooped a bowl of congee and handed it to Grandma.

Grandma looked at Jiang Tong and chirped, “Jiang Tong, you’re a good cook. I have to teach Little Yan how to cook someday!”

Xia Yan said reluctantly, “Grandma, you know that I’m not good at these things. It’s good that Jiang Tong is here!”

Jiang Tong also walked forward with a smile. “Yes, Grandma. Xia Yan won’t go hungry with me around.”

Grandma looked at the two of them and revealed a gratified smile. After eating some fish congee, Grandma felt tired. Xia Yan said a few words to Aunt Cui and then prepared to leave with Jiang Tong.

As soon as they arrived at the hospital lobby, Xia Yan saw Mo He rushing through the door. Mo He overlooked Xia Yan and rushed toward the elevator. Xia Yan stared blankly at Mo He’s anxious expression and knew something terrible must have happened.

Mo He didn’t care if others found out that he wasn’t disabled. One could easily see that he was distraught.

“What happened?” Jiang Tong saw Xia Yan suddenly stop in her tracks and looked at her in puzzlement.

Xia Yan was about to walk over and ask about the situation when she saw the driver who drove Qiu Xin out appear at the elevator. The driver’s forehead was bleeding and covered in gauze as he frantically greeted Mo He, “Young Master Mo He!”

Xia Yan glanced at the driver, then turned around to leave. Jiang Tong looked at Xia Yan’s sudden change in action with a strange expression. The two exited the hospital and entered Jiang Tong’s car.

However, Xia Yan only remained silent. Jiang Tong dared not ask any questions and could only quietly wait for Xia Yan to speak.
