Chapter 11
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
The kiss lasted for three minutes, leaving Allison a bit short of breath.
Her other hand was held tightly by the man, making her feel weak. Through the veil, she looked at Lucian, her heart pounding in a way it never had before.
Lucian was dressed in a white suit and looked so handsome and dashing that it was as if he were glowing, making Allisonâs head spin.
âPenelope, youâre too nervous.â Lucian said, wrapping his arm around her waist, smiling at her shortness of breath, and calling her name.
The sound of him calling her Penelope calmed Allisonâs heart once again.
She was Allison, not Penelope.
Tonight was just a dream.
After the engagement ceremony, there was a banquet and Allison changed into a pale pink dress.
Leah FlanaganâEaden followed along, and although she didnât like the intimacy between Allison and Lucian, she knew that cooperation with the Lindberg family was more important.
âTouch up her makeup and put on a thicker foundation!â In the dressing room, Leah immediately told the makeup artist after seeing Allison come out in a pink dress.
The makeup artist didnât know either Allison or Penelope, so she couldnât tell them apart. On hearing Leahâs request, she frowned slightly. âThe makeup is fine; thereâs no powder falling off, and Ms.
Flanaganâs skin is in good condition; a lighter makeup would look better.â
Without the veil and the headpiece, Allisonâs face was clear and delicate but Leah was afraid of being found out and said, âJust do what I tell you to do. Youâre getting paid, so do your job well!â
The makeup artist had no choice but to go over and touch up Allisonâs makeup.
She didnât understand these rich peopleâs quirks. Their skin was so good, yet they insisted on messing with it.
Allisonâs face was heavily made up. Although she was still beautiful, she had lost her original style.
Sitting in front of the makeup mirror, she looked at the somewhat unfamiliar reflection and slowly clenched her hand.
In the hallway.
Leah walked ahead of Allison, lowering her voice to warn her, âAllison, you better behave. If you let anyone find out anything. I will never forgive you.â
Allison lowered her head. âYes, Maâam, I understand.â
They entered the banquet hall again and the guests had already started having lunch.
Lucian had changed into a gray suit.
He now looked refined, completely different from when he was in the white suit.
Sitting at the table were Lucianâs father, Zachary Lindberg, and several uncles. Lucianâs mother was in the hospital and couldnât attend the engagement party. Carter, because of his age, went to rest after seeing Allison.
âLucian, quickly bring Penelope to toast to the elders.â This was a woman dressed in expensive clothes, a white suit, an agate necklace around her neck, and very elegant manners. This was Lucianâs aunt, Cora LindbergâHamilton.
Cora LindbergâHamilton had married the eldest son of the Brummett family in Northfield many years ago and had a son, Jason, who was a senior schoolmate of Allison.
Jason was also present today. When Allison saw him, her just calmed emotions started to become tense again.
She was afraid he would recognize her.
As Lucian led her over, they happened to hear Cora LindbergâHamilton talking to her son, âJason, when can you find me a good daughterâinâlaw? My requirements are not high; I donât need someone from a prominent family; just a decent, ordinary girl is fine.â
Jason glanced at his mother and smiled slightly, âMom, today is Lucianâs engagement party, and youâre still focusing on me?â
As he spoke, Jason looked up at the two people who had walked up to him. His eyes fell on the woman in the light pink dress and he couldnât help but frown slightly.
Although he had only met Penelope once, he felt that the bride in front of him was completely different from the arrogant and domineering woman he remembered. She seemed familiar and actually reminded him a bit ofâ¦Allison?
