Chapter 156
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
âWhatâs so urgent that youâve gotta take off now? Donât you care about your own life? Look at that gash on your forehead. Itâs already been stitched up a few times. If it tears open again, can you handle that?â
She lifted her hand, lightly touching her forehead.
Seeing that she seemed to take his words to heart, James hurriedly said, âJust chill here for a few days, okay?â
James lounged around, waiting for a bit before Lucian returned.
Lucian came back in a fresh set of clothes and looked at James in surprise, âWhat the hell are you doing here?â
âYouâre joking, right, Lucian? Were you planning on ditching me after youâve used me up?â
Seeing his pitiful, abandoned puppy look, Allison couldnât help but burst out laughing.
Lucian shot her a glance and Allison clammed up immediately, suppressing her laughter.
At that moment, the nurse came in to change Allisonâs bandages. The wound on her forehead had been stitched up and she could feel the sting when the bandages were changed. She bit her lip and waited silently for it to be done.
As the nurse was about to leave, she suddenly turned to look at Lucian.
âSir, do you need treatment for the wound on your back? The nurse asked awkwardly, eyeing Lucianâs handsome face âNo need.â
James blinked, recalling how Randal had hit him on the back with a bottle last night. He probably got cut by the broken glass.
Allisonâs eyes widened in concern, âYouâre hurt?â
Did it happen when he was saving her last night? She was halfâconscious then and her ears were filled with noise, so she was unable to hear anything.
But she had a vague feeling. He was taking on several thugs alone. No matter how skilled he was, it was impossible to walk away unscathed.
He got hurt because of herâ¦
She hung her head, feeling guilty. But then, Lucianâs dismissive voice broke through her thoughts, âDonât overthink it. Itâs got nothing to do with youâ
James rolled his eyes helplessly at Lucianâs attitude. How could he possibly win a girlâs heart like this?
Allison was discharged from the hospital after three days.
She hadnât seen Lucian since that day, and she thought he hadnât come back. But on the day she left, the nurse said admiringly, âMs. Zimmer, your boyfriend is really good to youâ
Allison turned pale and laughed, âYou misunderstood. Heâs not my boyfriend.â
âNo way! Who else would come to see you late at night every day and stay till dawn?â
Allison was taken aback. Lucian had been coming to see her every night?
Due to her head injury, she had been sleeping early these past few days. By midnight, she would already be out cold.
âBy the way, is his back injury serious?â
âDonât you know?â
The nurse looked surprised, then laughed, âHe probably didnât want you to worry. The wound on his back isnât serious. Itâs not long, but itâs quite deep.*
Allison bit her lip. Despite his words that the injury was unrelated to her, she knew he was hurt because of her.
Later that night, around 10 pm, a man sat alone in a private room at the club with his legs crossed. He was the only one without a woman by his side. A brave woman gathered her courage and approached him.
âDrinking alone must be boring, right?â As she spoke, she mustered up the courage to sit next to Lucian. Her soft hand landed on his chest, drawing circles gently.
This man, with his prestigious background and handsome looks, was the focus of all the women in the room. Yet no one dared approach him because he was too dangerous.
However, Nadine was different. She was bold and the most popular woman at the club. She believed that, with her charming beauty, no man could resist her.
