Chapter 158
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Leo hadnât expected Lucian to drop such a bombshell on him. Allison, the gentleâlooking chick? He was at a loss, glancing at James, unsure if Lucian was trying to trap him.
James, overhearing, chimed in, âWell, I like girls like her. They are pure and gentle..â He hadnât even finished his sentence when he noticed Leo giving him the death stare. What had he said wrong?
Why was Leo glaring at him?
âLucian, donât you think Allison looks really young? And sheâs got a great vibe⦠James rambled on, âLike a fresh college girl, wearing a white dress, exuding youth and innocence when she smiles⦠Why was Lucian still glaring at him? His face was growing darker by the second.
I âAh! Lucian, I think my stomach is acting up. I need to hit the john.â James finally sensed the tension, feeling that if he said one more word, Lucian would lose it. Pretending to be in pain, he quickly made an excuse and bailed.
Leo could feel the tension in the air and a chill ran down his spine. He thought he might have to assist James in making a quick exit. After all, James was so skinny, how could he possibly withstand a blow from Lucian?

But Lucianâs taste seemed to have changed. Could it be that he liked the innocent type like Allison?
But wasnât Lucian already engaged to Penelope?
He knew that Penelope had saved Lucianâs life and Lucian felt obligated to her. Now that Penelope was pregnant, the Lindberg familyâs future was unpredictable.
When Allison got home, she was ready for a showdown with Leah, expecting her to be furious. But Leah seemed to be in the dark.
Without wasting any time, Allison quickly freshened up and went to see Grace. She couldnât see anything clearly due to the black veil in front of her eyes. It wasnât until she reached the hospital room that she removed it.
Grace was hooked up to all sorts of tubes and looked extremely weak. Allison was stunned, her heart pounding heavily âMom Momâ¦â
Allison rushed to her bedside.
Grace had lost so much weight in just a few days that her cheeks were hollow. Tears welled up in Allisonâs eyes as she saw Graceâs pale face. Grace weakly opened her eyes, âAllison, youâre here.â
âMom, what happened? I thought you were getting better. How did you become like this all of a sudden?â
âAllison, thereâs something I need to tell you.â
Graceâs frail hand gripped Allisonâs tightly. Her voice was weak and hoarse, like a flickering candle about to go out.
Your father and brotherâs deathâ¦it wasnât an accident.â
Allisonâs pupils contracted.
âMomâ¦â
âIt wasnât an accident. Find a man named Adrian; he will tell you more. Also, donât worry about me anymore. Live your life as you wish. I may not be able to accompany you anymore.â
âDonât worry, Mom. Youâve already had a kidney transplant. As long as you take your medications on time, you will recover. I will take care of you. I will always be with you!â
âAllison, thereâs a metal box behind my wardrobe. It contains an agate necklace. Take good care of it. If Leah ever treats you badly, give this pendant to Christopher Flanagan âMom, stop talking. You will be fine. I will go to Mrs. Flanagan right now and beg her to spare you âNo.â Grace held onto Allisonâs hand tightly.
Allison pressed her face against her motherâs thin hand.
Grace gently stroked her daughterâs face, âAllison, I need you to promise me something.â
