Chapter 168
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
âHeath,â Allison bent down, stroking the little boyâs short hair Heath was multering to himself, but his eyes lit up when he saw Allison, âDid you come to see me?â
The little boyâs smile was bright.
A warmth filled Allison, and she answered the boyâs question, âYes, I kept my promiseâ
The facilities at Mercy Grove Hospital were quite average, the only advantage being its spacious grounds, a vast lawn, and a garden for entertainment. Allison watched the children running on the lawn and smiled âWhy is Heath here?â
âWhen he first came, he was very unruly every day. So his parents came to visit every few days, then every few weeks, and then every few months. The last time Heathâs parents came here was three months ago. The kid is actually quite smart but just a bit odd, I heard he had some sort of trauma when he was young, and heâs been like this since.â
Laura pointed to another little girl. âThat girl has been here for five years, longer than Iâve worked here, She witnessed her parentsâ car accident, and sheâs been like this since, hardly talks and always plays alone.â
Allison had been there for a while when she suddenly remembered Adrian was also there.
She said to Laura, âIâm going to use the restroomâ
âGo ahead, thereâs one on the first floor.â
At this time, Adrian, dressed in a cleanerâs uniform, slowly climbed the stairs. He wore a mask, so only a pair of old eyes and gray hair were visible, making him look over sixty.
âHey, you, come here Suddenly, the iron door opened, and a male voice called out.
âCome clean the toiletâ
Adrian quickly lowered his head and said, âAll rightâ
This was his first time being able to go to the sixth floor after working as a cleaner there for a week.
He walked with his head down, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw a group of guards standing at the end of the corridor in front of a ward door.
Pulling his pants up, one of them headed to the restroom and glanced at Adrian, âHow come the cleaner changed today?â
Another one said, âIsnât it better this way? Weâre all men, and every time a female cleaner comes in to clean, itâs so inconvenient.â
Adrian was cleaning the sink inside the restroom and listening to the men outside.
âIf a pretty female cleaner came up, we wouldnât have toâ¦â
âHa ha..â
âHow much longer do we have to stay here? Weâve been here for several months now, guarding a halfâ
dead middleâaged woman, and we canât even leave freely. This is so boring, and we canât even see a pretty nurse!!â
âWeâve been paid, so we must do the jobâ The man looked around and lowered his voice, âI think sheâs not going to make it much longer; look, sheâs even on a ventilator.â
âItâs unbelievable. Wasnât she full of life and knitting sweaters just a while ago? Wasnât her kidney disease almost cured? How did things suddenly get worse?â
Adrianâs movements paused.
His eyes also trembled slightly.
âThey changed her medicines for two days, and then she became like this.â
âShush, donât talk! What are you saying!â
âWhatâs there to be afraid of? Who else knows about this besides us?â
Adrian clenched the rag in his hand. It seemed that Graceâs condition was really not good.
The Flanagan family! Theyâve gone too far!!
After cleaning the restroom, Adrian picked up the mop and swept the corridor.
A guard walked out of the restroom, saw Adrian and shouted, âClean it properly, hurry up.â
Adrian didnât respond.
The guard walked a few steps and spoke again, Iâm talking to you!â
