Chapter 226
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Lily watched Jason fretting over Allison, and it broke her heart âJason, maybe Allison is already home.
Maybe sheâs okay. She didnât tell youâ âYeah, maybe Allisonâs already back, and now even Mr. Lindberg is dragged into thisâ
འའ༠âོ ཧ ༢ འJason whipped out his phone, calling Allison repeatedly, but he couldnât get through. He quickly dialled Lucian, but his phone was also unreachable. Allison was rubbing her arms, cold and weak, and suddenly she slipped and fell to the ground again.
She was deep in the jungle now, with rocks and broken branches scattered all over the ground, making every step a struggle She propped herself up on her arms, and the pain made her cry involuntarily.
Her palms and knees were badly scraped, she had fallen countless times during her journey. Her phone battery was down to 19%. She didnât dare to use her phone light anymore. She could only grope her way forward.
Her body, arms, and neck were scratched up by the half a meterâhigh weeds.
Her strength was starting to drain, and the sprain on her ankle was getting worse: She leaned against a big tree for a rest.
She pulled out her phone, opened the photo album, found a photo of her and Grace from before, and tears uncontrollably rolled down her cheeks, âMom, if I canât make it back, you still have Adrian. He will take good care of you.â
âLucian, in our next life, I hope you are born into a normal family, or maybe, my family could be a bit better off.â
She wiped her tears, revisiting many memories.
In her mind, she was back to that day when she was lying under Lucian, the first time they met, and he asked her name.
She said, âMy name is Penelope.â
She thought of the child that suddenly appeared in her belly and had to leave, and she couldnât help crying.
âIâm sorry, babyâ This was the first time she felt deep guilt.
âLucian, you jerk!â
Suddenly, a familiar raspy male voice echoed through the silent jungle, âYouâve got quite a loud voice when youâre cursing. Guess youâre still alive.â
Allison was taken aback. Did she hear things? Why was she hearing Lucianâs voice?
She lifted her head.
Tears fell instantly. Her vision blurred.
Lucian was really there, not far from her, walking towards her.
Lucian approached. He lowered his head, not trying to hide his worry and panic. He had practically run all the way looking for Allison and when he found out she had ventured deep into the jungle, he was extremely anxious, not knowing what dangers the jungle held.
Deep in the jungle, there was no cell phone signal. They couldnât contact anyone.
At this moment, when Lucian saw Allison standing in front of him unharmed, his racing heart began to slow down.
He looked at Allison Her eyes were shockingly bright. Suddenly, his throat felt as if it was blocked. He couldnât speak.
âLetâs go.â He hid all his emotions, saying in a low voice.
The surrounding light was dim, and Allison couldnât see clearly. She just looked into his eyes, slowly stood up, and took a step forward. Her foot hurt badly. âWhy did you come?â
âIf I didnât, would you prefer to face dangers here alone?â
Lucian looked around sarcastically, Iâve never seen anyone as adventurous as you daring to come here. Do you know how dangerous it is here at night?â
He looked down at her swollen ankle, âCan you walk?â
Allison nodded.
Lucian frowned. Obviously, she couldnât walk now. He straightened up, and suddenly, his pupils narrowed, âWatch out!â
âAllison, whatâs up?â
