Chapter 241
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
âDoc, how could my baby be fine after I was pushed down so hard? I didnât miscarry, but there must be some damage,â she said, pulling a bank card from her bag.
After the doctor left, Margo came in âMs. Flanagan, I heard Carter is in Mr. Lindbergâs room now.â
âCarterâs here?â Penelope jumped up at the news. Margo rushed over to help her as Penelope made a few steps before returning âWhereâs my patient gown?â
Penelope hated the hospital gowns and refused to put one on during her stay, but now she had to Margo understood Penelopeâs request, âItâs in the bathroom. Iâll get it Penelope moved quickly through the process, her brisk pace contradicting her pregnant state.
Her and Lucianâs rooms were on different floors. She exited the elevator and, with Margoâs help, arrived at Lucianâs room.
Feigning weakness, she pushed open the door and acted surprised to see the people in the room, âCarter, Cora, Miranda, youâre all here?â
Her innocent and clueless demeanor was a testament to her acting skills.
Cora was shocked to see Penelope in a hospital gown, âPenelope, what happened?â
Penelope, pretending to be caught off guard, glanced at Lucian hesitantly, âIâm fine, Iâm fine, itâs justâ¦â
Margo, understanding Penelopeâs intention, was about to say, âMs. Flanagan wasâ¦
Before she could finish her sentence, a deep, raspy male voice interrupted.
Lucian, looking at Penelope with a warning in his eyes, said, âShe had a minor bump. For safetyâs sake, sheâs resting here after a checkâupâ
Margo was taken aback, looking to Penelope for guidance.
Penelope had intended to blame the incident on Allison in front of Carter and the Lindberg family.
However, before she could say anything, Lucian cut her off, insisting it was Penelopeâs own clumsiness.
Penelopeâs expression changed slightly, the warning in Lucianâs voice making her nervous. She forced a laugh, âAh, yes, I was careless; I bumped into something.â
Miranda came over, concerned about the baby, âHow could you be so careless?â
Cora asked, âWhat did the doctor say? How are you feeling now?â
Penelope leaned weakly against Margo, her face adorned with a forced smile, âDonât worry about me, Iâm fine.â
âLook at you, youâre pale. You canât possibly be fine.â
Margo interjected, âMs. Flanagan was concerned about Mr. Lindbergâs health and wanted to see him. I couldnât stop her. She hurried over before she could finish her IV.â
Carter stood up, âPenelope, you need to rest and be more careful from now on.â
âI understand, Grandpaâ
Margo accompanied Penelope back to her room, and Miranda, concerned, followed.
In the room, Miranda told Margo, âYou need to take good care of Penelope.â
âOf course.â
Just then, the doctor walked in.
Penelope handed the doctor some money. The doctor, having prepared everything, said sternly, âMs.
Flanagan, how could you move around so casually? The fetus in your stomach is in a very unstable condition right now.â
