Chapter 25
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
The Lindberg familyâs mansion was smack dab in the middle of the city, a posh and pricey area.
The place was like a neighborhood of mansionâstyle villas. There were a bunch of fourâstory buildings that were all connected and all belonged to the Lindberg family.
Just as Allison pulled up to the gate, she saw Lucian stepping out of his Bentley.
He personally opened the car door for her and said, âPenelope, sorry I couldnât pick you up. Been swamped with work.â
âNo worries.â Allison replied, a bit sheepish but relieved to see he didnât seem affected by last nightâs events.
Her fingers tightened, reminding herself that she was Penelope now, not Allison.
Next thing she knew, her clenched hand was enveloped by a warm grip. She shivered slightly, looking up at the man beside her.
Lucian was gently stroking her hand with a small smile playing on his lips. âNervous?â
She nodded slightly.
Yeah, she was a bit jittery and afraid her secret might be exposed.
Just then, a oneâeyed, muscular middleâaged man approached them. âMr. Lindberg, Ms. Flanagan.â
Lucian introduced him, âThis is David. Heâs been my grandfatherâs companion for a long tirne.â
David was the Lindberg familyâs butler. He shared a last name with Carter Lindberg because he was hisâadopted son, so he had a pretty high status in this household.
âHello, David.â Allison greeted him respectfully. David nodded slightly, then turned to Lucian. âLucian, Carter wants to see you in the study.â
Lucian squeezed her hand. âYou make yourself at home. Iâll go see Grandpa.â
Allison nodded.
After Lucian left, David led Allison into the mansion and had a maid named Zoey take her to the garden.â
There were several fourâstory buildings with tight security and beautiful greenery. As Allison followed Zoey, they heard some heavy panting coming from the fruit trees ahead.
âOh, Pete, youâre such a bad boyâ¦â
âCan I be any worse than you, you little minx, huh?â
The conversation between the man and the woman, along with the panting, made them both uncomfortable.
Allison frowned. They couldnât see anything in the dense grove, but the suggestive sounds made it awkward.
Zoey quickly ushered Allison away. âMs. Flanagan, letâs go.â
Allison nodded and awkwardly diverted her gaze.
They didnât try to hide their footsteps. It was so quiet here that Allison was sure the people in the grove could hear them.
But not only did they not quiet down, they got even louder.
As they left the fruit trees, Zoey explained awkwardly, âMs. Flanagan, that was Davidâs son, Pete. Heâs quite the libertine and has had affairs with many of the maids. Pete acts like this because his father once saved Carterâs life.â
Allison gave a small smile. âSo, weâre the ones who disturbed them.â
Zoey chuckled. She found Ms. Flanagan very approachable, without any air of arrogance. âMs.
Flanagan, you always have a way of making things sound amusing.â
As for this incident, Allison didnât really care. It was the Lindberg familyâs business, and she was just a bystander.
As they chatted and walked, they didnât notice Kamilla getting out of a car at the gate of the Lindberg mansion.
Kamilla instantly spotted Penelope, whom she despised.
To her, Penelope was cunning and no different from those women who wanted to cling to Lucian.
Did she really think she could easily enter this family by getting engaged to Lucian? Just wait till she put her in her place!
