Chapter 269
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
âChristopher, are you seriously gonna trust a servant over me? Are you doubting me?â Leah asked.
Penelope was caught off guard. A small accessory had turned into a family dispute, âDad, how could you suspect Mom? Just because of something Allison said, you think Mom is hiding Grace?â
Leah was so pissed off she was grinding her teeth. Her daughter was totally useless!
Christopher was stern, âDid you really lock up Grace? Where is she now, Leah? You have to clear this up!â
Leah was fuming, glaring at Allison But Allison wasnât scared, a smirk appeared on her face, âLeah, no point giving me the evil eye. Better release my mom or else, if anything happens to her, your precious daughter is toast. Iâve recorded everything on my phone.â
As she said this, she bent down to pick up her phone. The screen was cracked but the audio was still working. She hit play.
Penelopeâs arrogant voice came out, âIf you dare approach me again, your mom Grace will be in danger. Iâll make sure she never wakes up from her hospital bed!â
Leah went pale instantly. She glared at her daughter, as if berating this useless child! Penelope guiltily hung her head.
Allison said, âDonât think you can get away with this. Youâve locked my mom up in Mercy Grove Hospital, a mental institution. Youâve threatened me with my momâs life over and over again. If anything happens to her, this recording will be your undoing!â
If anything happened to her mom, Penelope would pay too!
Christopher was livid, âLeah, you need to explain this! Release Grace immediately! This is illegal, do you understand?â
âChristopher, is that woman the only thing in your heart? Donât you care about how I feel?â Leah asked.
âLeah, Iâm doing this for you. This is illegal, do you want to drag yourself and Penelope into this?â
Christohpher said.
Leah stood there, took two steps back. She glared at Allison but she was out of options for now.
Mercy Grove Hospital.
The guards on the sixth floor seemed to have received the message and all left.
Adrian watched the guards leave in a hurry. He had received Allisonâs message. He went up to the room where he saw Grace. His tears fell, âGrace.â
Grace had been properly medicated recently and her mental state had recovered. Although she was still weak, she was conscious.
In the past, Adrian could only sneak a peek at her when he was cleaning once a week. They didnât dare make eye contact. But now, with the guards gone, Adrian was finally able to see Grace!
âAdrian.â Grace smiled, âItâs been a while, how have you been?â
Adrian felt extreme guilt, especially seeing Graceâs smile. His eyes were filled with tears. The sunlight shone into the room, on his hair, then he suddenly knelt down, shaking.
âGrace, Iâm sorry. This is all my fault!â Tears rolled down the middleâaged manâs cheeks.
âAdrian.â Grace moved the blanket aside and got up from the bed. She helped Adrian up.
Seeing Adrian not getting up, she bent down, âItâs all in the past now.â
Was the death of her husband and son his fault?
Maybe, maybe not. After all, Adrian was just a hired driver.
Was it Christopherâs fault? But Christopher couldnât predict the accident either.
Years had passed and Grace couldnât let go. Perhaps this was just fate.
Adrian felt immense guilt, âGrace, Allison will be here soon to pick you up.â
Upon hearing her daughterâs name, Graceâs eyes lit up.
Adrian knew that Christopher would be coming soon, so he left the room and hid in the bathroom on the sixth floor. He decided to make the Flanagan family pay for the suffering they caused Grace.
