Chapter 285
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
The womanâs eyes were tightly closed as Lucian helped her into the car Seeing her disheveled clothes, his brows furrowed and his expression turned icy cold. He got out of the car again and walked towards the middleâaged man who was already unconscious on the ground.
About five seconds later, a manâs agonizing scream echoed down the empty street.
âArgh-â
Midnight, 12 oâclock, at Magnolia Gardens James stepped out of the bedroom, nodding at Lucian. âItâs all good. She passed out from inhaling too much ether. A good sleep will fix that.â
In the study.
Lucian sat on the couch, legs crossed. His previously tense expression now relaxed.
James walked over âYou worried about her? Donât trust my medical skills?â
Lucianâs voice was cold. âWho said I was worried about her?â
âNot worried about her? Then why did you call me over in the middle of night?â James knew Lucian all too well.
There was something about this woman, Allison, that always triggered different emotions in Lucian.
Lucian seemed to have his thoughts exposed, his face taut with displeasure. âYou can leave now.â
âOuch, youâre kicking me out now that youâre done with me? Thatâs cold, James sat leisurely on the couch, tapping his knee. Iâve decided to spend the night hereâ
Lucian flashed a small smile and pulled out his phone. âHello, Iâm the resident of building A. Can you send your security over? There is aâ¦â
James immediately stood up âAlright, alright, I get it. Iâll leave on my ownâ He chuckled, âDonât let me interrupt your good time with Allison!â
As James walked to the door, he was suddenly stopped by Lucian. âJames, is there a way to determine the DNA of a fetus while the woman is still pregnant?â
James turned around, stroking his chin There is, but itâs not accurate. Best to wait until the baby is born, thatâs more precise.â
He frowned at Lucianâs expression âAre you suspecting that the child in Penelopeâs bellyâ¦â
Lucian simply nodded.
James said, âItâs indeed a serious matter. But Penelope saved your life, I donât think she wouldâ¦â
Lucian interrupted, I know Penelope saved me and I promised to marry her, but that doesnt mean she has the right to trick me into itâ
âFour more months, James calculated. In four months, whether the child is yours or not will naturally be known. But donât you find Penelope a bit⦠odd?â Lucian lit a cigarette, raising an eyebrow upon hearing that âOdd how?â
James didnât have much contact with Penelope, but he didnât like her. This woman seemed innocent and kind, but he had witnessed her slap Allison hard across the face. Her aggressive side was not at all like the gentle demeanor she put on in front of Lucian âDont you think sheâs a bit hypocritical? In front of you, she appears very gentle, but in private, she is completely different.â James said leisurely, âMaybe she just wants to show her best side to you, which is not entirely wrong.â
But she was just too fake.
As a good friend of Lucian, James didnât think highly of Penelope. When he heard that Lucian was going to marry her, he was shocked.
The man sal on the brown leather couch, his fingers tapping lightly on the armrest. âCheck out a guy for me.â
âWho?â
âA guy named Robbie. Find out who heâs been in contact with. Has he received any large transfers to his account?â
Lucian squinted, calmly contemplating. Perhaps the problem lay somewhere else.
A man named Robbie suddenly showed up in the pictures, he found him and got some soâcalled information. But the information could be fabricated and the man could have been bought off.
