Chapter 296
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Penelopeâs foot was all healed up. She had Charlie arrange for her to return to the set, but she found that a lot of the scenes she was supposed to be in didnât match up.
The assistant director answered with a smile, âMs. Flanagan, you should still take it easy with your foot.
We donât want to put too much on your plate, we need to make sure we wrap up the whole show by next month. If youâre up for it, we need to shoot all night tonight.â
Before Penelope can respond, Charlie chimed in, âOur contract doesnât mention shooting regular scenes late into the night. We shouldâve talked about this beforehand.â
The assistant director seemed a bit troubled, âMs. Flanagan, you took a two-week break without letting us know in advance, we need to catch up.â
He turned to Charlie, âCharlie, donât get mad at me. You can take it up with the producer or Gavin. Iâm just here to give you the heads-up. Of course, you can choose not to shoot, and then weâll make the necessary cuts.â
Penelope bit her lip, âAlright, I got it.â
Charlie wanted to say something, but Penelope waved him off, âItâs fine, I can shoot until about midnight tonight.â
Charlie said, âPenelope, you need to rest now.â
The assistant director shook his head as he walked away, âTheyâre treating the set like a vacation spotâ
What was the use of being born with a silver spoon in your mouth? Once the show was aired, the audience may not like it In the editing room, Gavin was watching the screen. The footage shot these past few days had been roughly edited, and he nodded in satisfaction.
Sitting next to him, the editor Monica commented, âThis actress is doing a great job, sheâs got potential.
Her scenes with Aaron are natural, and she brings a touch of humanity to her evil character.
Gavin lit up a cigarette, âSheâs Penelopeâs stand-in.â
Monica looked at the cigarette case Gavin had set aside and she lit one up as well.
She took a puff, then squinted, âYou still like this brandâ¦itâs too strong.â
Despite saying this, Monica took another drag. âOf course I can tell, this girlâs eyes are different from Penelopeâs. Hers are like a clear lake, beautifully innocent. Even though they look alike, I can tell the difference. With such an exceptional stand-in, Penelope looks rather ordinaryâ
Gavin tapped his cigarette, reminding, âBe careful when you guys edit the final cut. Donât let any obvious close-ups slip through.â
âGot it. We wouldnât dare slack off while working for Epic Entertainment.â
Gavin and Monica were old partners, so he laughed at her comment, âThank you. Iâll treat you to dinner when we finish shooting. Weâve got one more month. Letâs all work hard.â
âI know, Gavin, you donât have to remind me.â
âGavin, where did you find such a perfect stand-in? Sheâs so much like Penelope itâs uncanny. If I wasnât in front of the camera every day, I wouldnât be able to tell.â
âShe was found by Penelope herself.
Gavin stayed in the editing room, Monicaâs delicate fingers rested on his shoulder, their bodies moving closer.
On the couch, their bodies pressed closely together. Monica leaned on Gavinâs shoulder, âGavin, how long have we known each other?â
âWeâve known each other since collegeâ¦
âThat long alreadyâ¦â
âYes, itâs been a long time.â
