Chapter 34
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Lucianâs mom, Miranda LindbergâCruz, had a nasty car crash a while back that messed up her legs and eyes pretty badly After months of rehab in the hospital, she finally had eye surgery. Because of all this, she missed Lucianâs engagement party. Now, she was almost back to her old self and couldnât wait to meet her future daughterâinâlaw.
Lucianâs phone buzzed and he left Allison to keep his mom company while he took the call.
âPenelope, come here; let me take a look at you.â Mirandaâs eyes were still bandaged, so she couldnât see. She reached out and grabbed Allisonâs wrist, saying with a worried tone, âWhy are you so thin?
Donât diet too much; a little extra never hurt anybody.â
âOkay. Allison replied gently.
Miranda really liked Allisonâs sweet nature. Holding onto Allisonâs hand, she said, âIâm sorry I missed the engagement party. Penelope, I want to give you something to make up for it.â
With that, Miranda removed a bracelet from her wrist and slipped it onto Allisonâs.
The bracelet looked pretty pricey and Allison was hesitant to accept it. âThis braceletâs too expensive; I canât take it.â
âIf you donât accept it, is it because youâre mad at me for not attending the engagement party?â Miranda teased. Allison was flustered and looked to Lucian for help.
Lucian smiled and said, âIf itâs from my mom, you should accept it.â
With no way out, Allison stopped refusing. She reached into her bag and pulled out a bracelet sheâd made from red string. âI made this bracelet myself.â
At this point, she added somewhat shyly, âItâs not anything fancy, I hope you wonât mind.â
âI love it; thank you!â Miranda immediately put the bracelet on. Even though she couldnât see, she felt it over and over and was clearly delighted.
The value of a gift didnât depend on how expensive it was, but on the thought behind it.
In her life, Miranda had seen all kinds of luxury goods. Plenty of people tried to suck up to the Lindbergâfamily by showering her with pricey paintings and jewels worth millions.
But she felt that this bracelet was worth more.
She was thrilled that her son had found such a good wife.
After spending some time with Miranda, Allison gave her and Lucian some time alone once he finished his call. Using an excuse, she left the room.
She was worried about Grace, whom she had bumped into earlier in the elevator. After leaving the VIP ward, she went straight to Graceâs room.
But instead of Grace, there was a strange middleâaged man lying in the bed. She looked around but couldnât find Grace anywhere.
She anxiously asked a nurse, âWhereâs the lady who was in this bed?â
The nurse replied, âYou mean Grace? She was just moved to bed number 03 in the hallway.â
Allison was taken aback, âThe hallway?â
Why was her mom moved to the corridor?
