The man driving took a glance at James through the rearview mirror, making sure he was sound asleep, before whipping out his phone and dialing a number, âHey Hallon, Iâve done what you asked me to do. Got it. Im heading to the Oakwood Hotel now.â

As they exited the elevator, Cassie saw the tall man struggling to support another guy who was three sheets to the wind. She rushed to lend a hand, her cheeks flushing as she caught a glimpse of the handsome manâs profile.
Once they reached room 306, Cassie swiped the key card. The tall man ushered the handsome man inside Cassie, ever the warm host, asked, âNeed anything else?â
âNope.â The tall man shut the door Cassie was left standing outside, a faint whiff of cologne still lingering in the air âWhat a hunk, and he seems loaded tooâ She thought, âWhy would he pick this tiny hotel to stay?â
The tall man made another call. About 20 minutes later, the door was opened again. Another man walked in, leading a drunk The tall man asked, âIs that her?â
âNo doubt about it. Got her from Walter. The jobâs done, letâs scram They laid the drunk woman on the bed, next to the drunk man.
After a while, the tall man said, âAlmost forgotâ
He pulled out a box of scented candles from his pocket, lit one and placed it on the bedside table young woman, âHallon said if theyâre both plastered, light this up. Enhances the aphrodisiac effect. Letâs get outta here. If we donât, they might just wake up.â
They left the hotel Room 306 was filled with a hint of fragrance. The curtains fluttered lightly. The night seemed to promise something out of the ordinary.
âAllison, didnât you say youâd get off work early tonight? Why are you so late? Iâve got supper ready, come and tryâ Allison came home to find Grace watching TV in the living room. Upon seeing Allison, she immediately got up and greeted her with a smile.
âMom, why arent you in bed?â Allison shut the door, put down her stuff, and changed her shoes.
Grace went into the kitchen to heat up the supper. Allison planned to take a bath in her room. She could still smell Lucian on her. But just as she changed, Grace called her, âAllison, letâs move to Cloudvilleâ
Allison froze. She quickly changed into her pyjamas and went out.
She went into the kitchen, looked at Grace, and asked, âWhat did you just say?â
Grace replied, âDidnât you always want to take me away from Northfield? I gave it some thought. I donât have anyone close in Northfield anymore. Letâs leave here and go to Cloudville.â
Allison took a bite of the freshly heated apple pie.
She asked, puzzled, âDidnât you say you werenât in a hurry?â
Grace did say she wasnât in a hurry before. But now, she was desperate to leave.
