Chapter 357
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
The Penelope in his heart was always pure and Innocent, the girl who once saved him. But Lucian often felt that the Penelope in front of him was cunning and calculating, even suspecting from time to time whether the child in her belly was really his.
The man squinted his eyes. Two months later, when the child was born, he would definitely investigate thoroughly.
Nicholas returned to the private room with no appetite. As Allison finished eating, he asked the waiter to pack up some pastries. Glancing at the time, he said, âIâll drop you off at Red Jack Club. What time do you get off work tonight?â
Allison had her hair casually tied up while eating. Now she untied the hair tie, let down her hair, and carefully combed it with her fingers. âAre you going to pick me up after work?â
Nicholas replied, âI can arrange a driver for you. Itâs not safe for a girl to get off work too late.â
âNo need,â Allison responded, âI usually get a ride with a friend. Itâs on their way. And my working hours arenât fixed. It depends on the guests in my private room. When they leave, thatâs when I finish and go home. But donât worry, Iâm always with friends. If it gets too late, Iâll stay overnight in the break room and go home the next day.â
âWhich private room are you in now? I didnât see you on the 6th floor the other day.â
âThe 2nd floor.â
Nicholas wasnât a regular at Red Jack Club, but he was familiar with its workings. Typically, the higher the floor was, the more prominent the guests were. The second floor, on the other hand, was mostly occupied by individual customers, and there was a diverse range of people there. It was relatively chaotic in comparison.
Allison shrugged, âThese two weeks, the 6th floor has been managed by another manager. I just earn less, but everything else is the same.â
As Allison and Nicholas descended the stairs, Allisonâs phone buzzed twice. When she didnât check it, Nicholas next to her reminded her, âYour phoneâs ringing.â
Allison chuckled, âItâs a text from a nutcase. Donât mind him.â
Nicholas guessed, âLuca?â
Allisonâs eyes widened, âHow do you know? Was I that obvious?â
Nicholas asked, âIs Luca chasing after you?â
Allisonâs eyes widened even more. âWhat are you thinking? How could he be chasing me?â
Nicholas looked at her deeply, âI feel Luca treats you differently from others.â
âYouâre overthinking.â Allison lowered her eyes.
How could Lucian possibly like her? He couldnât even hide his distaste for her.
As the car sped along the road, Nicholas glanced at the rearview mirror at the silent womanâs face.
âAllison, itâs strange, but feel a sense of familiarity with you. Penelope said earlier youâre a scheming woman, but in my eyes, youâre an innocent and kind girl. It feels like weâve met before, maybe in a past life, I was your brother.â
Allison bit her lip. Her eyes felt moist and sour. She wasnât sure if this man was Ricky, but all the coincidences were too similar. She preferred to deceive herself.
âSo, how about you treat me like your little sister? Let me⦠call you brother a few times. I understand, Iâm just a girl from an ordinary family, and youâre from a wealthy and prominent one. Iâm not greedy, and calling you brother a few times wonât cost you anything.â
Nicholas paused for a moment, then a smile appeared on his face half a minute later. âSure, I suddenly gained a beautiful and gentle little sister. Itâs my luck.â
Hearing Nicholasâ words, the pain in Allisonâs heart these past few days seemed to have disappeared.
She wouldnât leave Northfield; she would stay here. Penelope and Leah couldnât think of driving her away, and they couldnât threaten her anymore.
She was going to stay here to find out if Nicholas was really her brother.
