Chapter 369
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Allison held a tray with a bottle of wine, giving Linda a cold nod Linda squirmed a bit. âAllison, did you see the text I sent you?â
âWhich one? I donât check my phone while working.â
âOh, the one about Mrs. Flanagan arriving. Sheâs in Serenaâs office nowâ
As Linda prepared to leave, the elevator slowly ascended. Allison remained silent for a few seconds before saying, âThanks.â
âYou donât need to thank me, Allison. Iâm sorry about last time, I⦠I didnât mean to. But when Penelope asked, I⦠I blurted it out. They all know weâre close, and think I knew your whereabouts. I couldnât hide it, I.
âLinda, I donât blame you.â She understood Lindaâs predicament. But she didnât need a friend who betrayed her.
The Flanagans paid well, and there was no need for Linda to risk losing her job to cover for her. But Allison wasnât a saint, she didnât plan on having any contact with Linda in the future.
The elevator doors opened, and Allison walked out. Linda watched her leave, sometimes she envied Allisonâs freedom.
At midnight, Allison rubbed her shoulders, tallied up the dayâs bar tab, got approval from the manager, and headed to the changing room.
âAllison⦠someone called her name.
Allison was changing, the changing room was all women, and her colleagues were coming and going after work. She responded but didnât look back.
Again, âAllison, I need to talk to you.â
Allison was buttoning her blouse, finally recognizing the voice as Tinaâs. She turned to see Tina standing there. âWhat do you want?â
Tina worked under Serena, so Allison didnât interact with her much.
Tina gritted her teeth. âRemember a few days ago, you were on the second floor, and Carol came to replace you to go to the sixth floor?â âI remember, whatâs up? You can just say it.â
-Tina started, âThat night, did you feel unwell, likeâ¦â
Allisonâs gaze sharpened, she fastened her blouse and approached Tina. âWhat do you know?â
Tina said, âChange first, then come with me afterward. I need to talk to you about that night.â
In the break room, it was just Allison and Tina.
Tina decided to spill the beans. She had done a lot for Serena, but for a small matter, Serena wanted to fire her. She decided not to cover for Serena anymore! Serena never treated her like one of her own, and sheâd be the first to take the fall.
âYou were supposed to work on the second floor, but Serena called me out of the blue, and asked me to move you here. So I had Carol switch your post. Then when you showed up, I handed you a tray with drinks. There were drugs in the drinks. I donât know what kind. Serena instructed me to do this. I was only responsible for handing it to you! Then I was supposed to watch you closely and report to her If anything happened.â
Allison had suspected Serena all along, and sure enough, it was her. Through recent events, she had figured out the truth. Leah mustâve wanted to fire her, to drive her away from Northfield. So she first approached Sarah to fire her, but Sarah refused, so Leah turned to Serena.
âThe drink you gave me had drugs in it? How did you know Lucian would drink it?â
âMr. Lindberg? I thought it was Mr. Burke?â
