Chapter 38
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Allison said, âYouâre too busy, you donât have to keep me company, Iâm fine.â
Lucian retorted sarcastically. You always like to play these games, pushing me away and then pulling me back. But this trick gets old, you know!â
Allison was speechless. Why did Lucian always misconstrue her words?
After getting her stitches, Allisonâs back was soaked with sweat.
Although the injury wasnât too severe, she had lost a fair amount of blood. The doctor told her to keep the wound dry and eat food that would help her replenish blood. She was also told to change her bandages regularly.
Seeing her pale and weak, Lucian frowned and asked the doctor, âThatâs it? No need for hospitalization?â
The doctor replied, âNo, not for now.â
Lucian insisted, âAdmit her to the hospital!â
The doctor was puzzled, âWell⦠there really is no need for hospitalization. The wound may seem deep, but itâs properly bandaged. She can recover at homeâ¦â
Before the doctor could finish, Lucian shot him a cold glare. The doctor wiped the sweat off his forehead, thinking what an unusual patient he had? So eager to be hospitalized?
âIâm not staying in the hospital, Allison said, frowning. âIf youâre feeling unwell, you can stay. But I wonât.â
How strange of Lucian to insist on having her admitted to the hospital?
Allison stood up, thanked the doctor, and started to leave. After taking a few steps, she suddenly felt dizzy. She stopped in her tracks, biting her lip as her body tilted backward. She fell against Lucianâs chest, who swiftly picked her up and said to Shawn, âGo get her admittedâ
âI already said I wonât stay in the hospital! Lucian! Put me down now!â
Lucian put her on the hospital bed. A nurse quickly came over to set up an IV drip for Allison. Lucian took one glance and then turned to leave. The nurse smiled at Allison, âMiss, your boyfriend really cares about you.â
âHeâs not my boyfriend,â Allison muttered.
The nurse laughed awkwardly, Iâm sorry, Miss. The gentleman has already paid the hospital fees. Just rest here for a while. Ring the bell once the drip is finished.â
Allison lay on the hospital bed, recalling the events that unfolded.
That crazy woman was charging at her with a knifeâ¦
Gradually, as the medication took effect, her eyes started to close.
When Lucian returned to the room, he saw her curled up on the hospital bed, so fragile. His gaze seemed to soften. He walked over to the bed and quietly sat down on the chair.
This woman always tried to get close to him, even crawling into his bed. Even though she always pretended to be innocent, he knew her inner greed and vanity. But he didnât seem to dislike her as much as he thought he wouldâ¦.
It was an odd feeling, filling him with confusion.
Allison was discharged after three days in the hospital. Daisy had been worried about her. Allison reassured Daisy that she was okay and video-called her.
Seeing her in high spirits, Daisy finally relaxed.
On the day of her discharge, Daisy dr ove her home.
Once home, she tidied up, quickly showered, and changed into fresh clothes. She put on delicate makeup while looking at herself in the mirror, and her smile tinged with bitterness.
After that day, she assumed she wouldnât have any contact with Lucian. Because Lucian was flying to England in the afternoon.
She quickly transformed into Penelopeâ, looked at her bare neck, opened the drawer, and put on the agate necklace she had been reluctant to wear. Then, she hailed a cab to the airport.
At the airport waiting area, Lucian looked at her affectionately, his eyes full of warmth, âPenelope, wait for me. Iâll bring you a surprise when I return.â
A surprise?
She probably wouldnât be able to wait for it.
