Chapter 420
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Sadie was sizing herself up in the mirror. Sheâd shed a ton of weight for this role, but it still wasnât enough to squeeze into the smallest size of the dress.
Taking a deep breath and holding it in, she was interrupted by her agentâs voice, which made her frown.
She looked at Emma and said, âLet him wait, Iâll be there in a jiffy.â
Emma seemed a bit on edge, âSadie, itâs been two hours already. Itâs getting dark. If we donât hurry up, itâll be really inappropriate. Mr. Simonds and the rest of the cast are waiting for us.â
Sadie gave her agent a glance, âJust let them wait. Heâs just an assistant director. Whatâs a few minutes to him?â
Emma sighed, watching Sadie trying on clothes. She couldnât comprehend Sadieâs attitude. Even though she was Sadieâs agent, she was only an executive agent, just a notch above an assistant.
The head agent was Sidney from the company. Even though Sidney was no Patty, she had her ways of getting resources, This production was funded by Epic Entertainment and handed over to Patty, who then passed it to Sidney. Because Sadie was easyâgoing and fit the audition image, she got the role.
The filming was already halfway done. Emma was powerless, and all she could do was handle the calls from the assistant director.
Sadie was not caring about being late at all; Emma sighed again and asked carefully, âSadie, if you like this dress, letâs buy it and get to the set pronto.â
Sadie looked annoyed, âEmma, youâre just an executive agent. Since when do you get to boss me around?â
Emma replied, âSadie, we canât keep stalling. Mr. Simonds has been with Cathy for years. He has connections and heâs tough. He hates tardy actors the most. Last time an actress was late for shooting, and he lambasted her on the spot. It was all over the news and her reputation took a hit.â
Sadie retorted, âIâm the lead actress for this show, how can you compare me with some internet celebrity? Emma, if you donât want this job, just say it. Donât beat around the bush. Thereâs a long line of people waiting to be my executive agent. I wonât change because of you.â
Emma was taken aback. She was just looking out for Sadie, but Sadie didnât appreciate it. Fine, sheâd keep her mouth shut. Let Sadie do whatever she wanted. If any news about her being negligent got out, it would affect Sadie herself. But she was just an executive agent. She couldnât control these things. The one whose reputation would be ruined was Sadie herself.
On the set.
Mr. Sears came over, âJust letting you all know, weâre wrapping up for the night, no more shooting.â
Mr. Simonds yawned, âI thought we were waiting for Sadie?â
Mr. Sears whispered, âMr. Lindberg is here.â
Mr. Simonds just woke up and was a bit confused, âWho?â
Mr. Sears gestured and Mr. Simonds perked up, âLucian?â
Mr. Sears nodded.
Mr. Simondsâs expression changed, looking puzzled, âWhy would he show up? The CEO of Lindberg Corporation has time to spare? Donât tell me heâs here to supervise the work.â
Mr. Sears found it strange too but didnât dare to ask more, âI donât know. I was startled too. Anyway, letâs call it a day.â
Mr. Simonds looked around and didnât see anyone. He began to suspect that Mr. Sears was lying to get off work early. After all, why would someone like Lucian show up at a film set?
âMr. Sears, youâre not pulling my leg, are you?â
Mr. Sears, Of course not. I was shocked too when I got the call.â
Mr. Simonds gave Mr. Sears a look, âAlright, even if youâre telling the truth, letâs put this aside for now. I just want to tell you one thing. If Sadie is late again, Iâll just cut her scenes.â
Mr. Sears knew Mr. Simondsâs character, âOkay, Iâll handle Sadieâs side.â
Allison stepped out of Miaâs trailer, and her phone suddenly buzzed. She looked down. Lucian had sent a message.
