Chapter 425
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Penelope whipped out her phone, spotting several unread messages on WhatsApp from a friend sheâd once had a meal with, messages sheâd missed while sleeping.
She tapped the messages open.
âPenelope, remember me, Alice? Weâd gone to the hot springs together. I was at a friendâs birthday dinner today and saw Lucian eating with a woman named Allison.â
Penelope froze. What? Lucian was having a meal with Allison? Allison had the nerve to approach Lucian again when she was not feeling well!
Penelope replied, âAlice, of course I remember you. I just woke up, letâs hang out next time. Allison is a maid at my place, and she has met Lucian before. Maybe they just bumped into each other.â
Although Penelope knew in her heart it was more than just a chance encounter, she had to play it off as a coincidence.
Soon, Alice replied. âPenelope, I didnât expect you to remember me.â
Penelope didnât have the time or energy to chat with Alice, but she had to make polite convèrsation.
Alice said, âThen I might have misunderstood. When I first saw Allison, I thought she was you. Turns out sheâs your maid.â
âYes, sheâs worked at my place for many years, weâve treated her well.â
Alice said, âI thought she was your sister.â
Penelope asked, âWhen did she have a meal with Lucian?â
âJust tonight, at a friendâs birthday. We happened to be at the same restaurant.â
11 PM.
Penelope didnât have Graceâs number saved, so she called Margo to get it.
She sent a message to Grace. âGrace, itâs Penelope. Are you free tomorrow? Can you come see me?
Iâm at the city hospital, 16th floor, room 7.â
Grace was Allisonâs mom. If Penelope could control Grace, Allison would toe the line. Penelope knew Grace had always treated her well.
So she decided to start with Grace.
The next morning, Grace arrived at the hospital. Sheâd wanted to visit Penelope but the security at the ward door was tight. She couldnât get close.
Now that Penelope was awake, she felt relieved. She didnât expect Penelope to reach out to her.
With a mix of excitement and nervousness, she approached the hospital room. Margo glanced at her and said, âCome in.â
Back in the Flanagan family days, Grace was the housekeeper, and Margo was her assistant. Margoâs least favorite people were Grace and Allison.
Grace stepped forward, âMargo.â
Margo scoffed. As she was about to give Grace a piece of her mind, Penelopeâs voice came from inside the room, âIs Grace here?â
Margo swallowed her words. âYes, Ms. Flanagan.â
She looked at Grace, âGo in, Ms. Flanagan is waiting for you.â
As Grace entered, Margo shut the door and leaned in trying to eavesdrop on the conversation. Margo was puzzled. What was up with Ms. Flanagan? Why was she suddenly so respectful towards Grace?
