Chapter 426
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Grace strolled into the hospital room. âMs. Penelope, how are you feeling now? I brought you some homemade soup Iâve been simmering all night.â
Grace had made the soup in secret, after her daughter Allison was asleep, worried she would be discovered. She had a hunch Allison was onto her, but how could she hide her emotions when she saw Penelope hurt?
It was all her fault. She should never have done it. She regretted it so much. She owed an apology to both Allison and Penelope.
Penelope frowned at Graceâs downtrodden appearance, but said, âSit down, Ms. Grace.â
Grace poured out the soup, and its aroma filled the room. Penelope was quite hungry. Margoâs cooking was mediocre at best. After drinking a bit of the soup, she said to Grace, âMs. Grace, I came to see you today because thereâs something I want to talk to you about.â
Leaning back, Penelope continued, âIâve broken my arm and leg, but three months from now, Iâll be marrying Lucian. Youâve watched me grow up, so of course, I wanted to share this happy news with you.â
Grace was of course thrilled. A conversation with Penelope always perked her up, and the prospect of witnessing Penelopeâs wedding made her ecstatic. âMs. Penelope, I wouldnât miss your wedding for the world.â
âOf course, Ms. Grace. Youâve seen me grow up. I can be a bit willful at times, but Iâve always appreciated your kindness. I still remember when my mom punished me and didnât allow me to have chocolate. I was hiding and crying in the storage room, and you were the one who came to comfort me and sneak me a piece. And when I didnât want to learn to play the piano because it hurt my fingers, you were the one who sat with me in the piano room and encouraged me.â
Graceâs eyes welled up with tears. âI had no idea you remembered all that, Ms. Penelope.â She knew Penélope could be spoiled at times, but she was good at heart.
âYouâve always been good to me, of course I remember. I was a bit disrespectful at times when I was younger. I hope you donât mind, Ms. Grace.â
âMs. Penelope, donât mention it. As long as youâre happy and live a blessed life, thatâs all that matters.â
âMs. Grace,â Penelope said. âThat offer you had to move to another cityâ¦â
Grace replied, âI could go, but Allison wonât. She says her home is here, and her dad and Ricky are here. She doesnât want to go anywhere. Weâve always lived here, so where else could we go⦠Ms.
Penelope, I know you have issues with Allisonâ¦â
This put Grace in a difficult position. She didnât really want to leave either.
Penelope squinted, sensing that Allison wouldnât leave. Even though Grace was kind to her, she wouldnât let her and Allison leave Northfield. So, Penelope started to consider other options.
What good did it do Allison to like Lucian? Whether due to pressure or because of the Lindberg family, Lucian had to choose Penelope.
Allisonâs status was too humble. Even if Lucian liked her, the Lindberg family would never accept her.
She wanted Allison to attend her wedding with Lucian!! She wanted Allison to witness her becoming Lucianâs wife!
Whether or not Allison entered the entertainment industry was irrelevant. Penelope thought, at Epic Entertainment, no one could overshadow her, and the best resources were hers. Allison would have her freedom for a few days until her wounds, healed.
âMs. Grace, Iâve come to terms with it. Although thereâs tension between Allison and me, weâve known each other for years and grew up together. Iâm about to get married, and Allisonâs still single. I have a friend from a good family that Iâd like to introduce to Allison.â
Grace hesitated, âWellâ¦â
