Chapter 453
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Daisy was at a loss. Having gotten into this mess, why on earth did she have to marry into the Boswell family? Was she just a trophy wife in the Boswell household?
With a slight smile, Daisy watched Mina walk in and greeted, âMina, Iâm Daisy.â
Mina gave Daisy a once-over. Sheâd seen her picture before, saying, âHmm, have a seat.â
âWhat did you want to talk about, Mina?â Daisy asked.
Mina responded with a light smile, âIâve only seen you in photos before. From now on, youâll be the lady of the Boswell house. As your future mother-in-law, itâs better I get to know you now.â
Daisy could tell, despite Minaâs calm demeanor, she didnât feel any warmth from her. All she felt was an intangible pressure. Daisy exhaled slowly, realizing that there was more to this woman than just idle chit-chat.
Sure enough, Mina continued, âYou should be aware of Francesâ situation. Your marriage to him was arranged by the elders. You two may never have met before, but thereâs no harm in getting to know each other now.â
Î Daisy didnât have a choice, âYes.â She forced a smile, and her words were stiff. She didnât know what else to say at this moment. Should she admit that she was the unlucky one chosen to become the lady of the Boswell house?
âFrances isnât in good health. Heâll need you to take care of him. Anything that happens with Frances, big or small, I want to know about it. Got it?â Mina said.
Daisy was taken aback. Did Mina mean for her to spy on Frances? âUmâ¦â Daisy hesitated.
Mina added, âDaisy, if you want Santos Jewels to thrive, youâll do as I say. When you marry into the Boswell family, do you know who runs the show?â
Daisy silently scoffed. So Minaâs goal was to control the Boswell family. Although she didnât like it, she nodded with a smile, âI understand, Mina.â
Mina nodded, âGood, youâre smart.â
She turned to Ava, âTake the lady to the third floor to meet the young master.â
Ava was quick to respond, âYes.â Turning to Daisy, she said, âPlease, follow me.â In an instant, Avaâs address towards her had changed.
Taking a deep breath, Daisy stood up and followed Ava to the third floor. She wasnât sure if it was just her imagination, but the air seemed to grow colder with each step she took. By the time they reached the third floor, she felt a chill run down her spine. As Ava led her to the room at the end of the hall, Daisy could smell a strong scent of disinfectant, similar to that of a hospital.
Upon reaching the door, a middle-aged man with a scar on his face was seated on a long bench. He frowned at the sight of Ava, clearly not pleased to see her on the third floor.
His gaze then landed on Daisy. While he seemed puzzled, he didnât ask any questions. Ava approached John, âJohn, this is Daisy, Mr. Francesâ fiancée. Itâs her first time here and she would like to meet Frances.â
John responded, âThe master has said before, besides Mr. Wilton, no one else is allowed on the third floor.â
Ava retorted, âWhile we must respect the masterâs rules, considering itâs Miss Daisyâs first time here and she is soon to be Francesâ wife, I believe it should be his decision whether he wants to meet her.
John, could you please let Frances know that Miss Daisy is here?â
John hesitated. His sharp gaze scanned Daisyâs face before he finally went into the bedroom.
Daisyâs heart began to race. The man with the scar had unnerved her. His stare was not that of a typical bodyguard. His face bore a scar, stretching from his left cheek across his nose. It was a deep scar, clearly years old, but still quite prominent, as if cut by something sharp.
About two minutes later, John came out of the bedroom. His gaze landed on Daisy, showing a complex look in his eyes, âFrances says you can come in.â
