Chapter 454
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Ava chuckled, âMiss Daisy, go on in. Have a good chat with him.â
Daisy was actually not keen on entering. This strange environment and atmosphere put her on edge, but she mustered her courage and pushed the door open.
Outside the door, Ava told John, âIâm heading down first.â
John replied, âAlright.â
After Ava left, John immediately pulled out his phone and dialed Wilton, âMr. Wilton, Miss Santos is here, in Francesâ room.â
On the other end of the line, Wilton asked, âYou let Miss Santos in?â
John replied, âYes. You mentioned you wanted to see her.â
Wilton stated, âIâll be right back. You keep your heads up.â
âGot it.â John answered.
Upon entering the room, Daisy found it wasnât as grim as she expected. Instead it was quite bright and cozy. The smell of disinfectant was strong and medical equipment was scattered around, but the atmosphere wasnât stifling.
The window was open, and a few potted plants on the sill brought life to the room. The light blue curtains gently swayed in the wind. Daisy slowly approached the bed. The man half lying on the bed was reading a book. He had a straight nose and wore glasses. He looked quite young, around 26 or 27 years old. His hair wasnât dark, but a bit lighter, matching his pupils. He had a gentle and refined air about him, very polite.
Seeing him, Daisy blushed. She found this man named Frances to be quite handsome and well-
mannered.
âHello.â Daisy said softly.
Frances looked up at her and smiled, âTake a seat, Miss Daisy.â
Daisy took a seat on a chair to the side. Frances said, âIâm surprised you came to see me today. Even if you didnât come, I wanted to meet you and have a chat.â
âChat about what?â Daisy asked.
âI know you donât want to marry me, and I donât want to hold you back because I know my health might not hold out much longer.â Frances said.
Daisy quickly said, âNo, youâll get better, definitely will.â
When she heard Frances say he might not live much longer, she felt a pang in her heart. But she just met this man, why did she feel this way?
Daisy chuckled, âBy marrying you, the Santos family would prosper. If I donât marry you, our family may not survive under the pressure. I understand all this.â
Frances said, âIâm sorry, Miss Daisy. These things are beyond my control.â
âI know, I understand that itâs not your fault.â Daisy smiled, a dimple showing on her cheek, âActually, itâs Mrs. Mina who asked me to come see you today. I was thinking on my way here, if you turned out to be a jerk, Iâd avoid you as much as possible. Butâ¦â âBut what?â Frances asked., âBut I think I was wrong, marrying you might not be a bad thing after all.â Daisy said.
Frances chuckled and shook his head, âYouâre telling me this, arenât you afraid of Mrs. Mina scolding you?â
Daisy said shyly, âHow would she know if you donât tell her?â
Daisyâs gaze landed on the book in his hand, it was Long corridor by Keigo Higashino, âDo you like this book too? I love it, Iâve read almost all of his books.â
Frances looked surprised, âYou like his books too?â Seeing Daisy nod, Frances also smiled, âI have a lot of them here. Theyâre all on the bookshelf.â
Daisy stood up and walked over to the bookshelf.
