Chapter 461
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Her eyes didnât sparkle anymore; she had lost faith in the world.
Grace went on, âBack then, watching Christopher be there for Leah, put all his care and attention towards her, and watching Leah go into the delivery room, made me green with envy. My baby and Leahâs were born almost on the same day. It was just a matter of morning and afternoon, so⦠I secretly swapped them.â
Hearing this, Allisonâs pupils dilated. She wanted to speak, but no words came out. She initially thought, that not being Graceâs biological child was the end of the story, but she never expected the truth behind it to be like this.
She was actually Christopher and Leahâs daughter!
It took her a while to finally stutter, âMâ¦Mom⦠are you messing with me? This canât be trueâ¦â
Grace shook her head. âNo, itâs true. Your biological mother is Leah.â
Everything went black before Allisonâs eyes, and the world seemed to shift around her in an instant.
She closed her eyes, exhaled deeply, and asked, âSo, Penelope isâ¦â
Seeing how things escalated, there was no point in hiding anymore. âPenelope is me and Christopherâs daughter.â
âSo, my brother, my father, arenât they the innocent ones in all this?â Allison recalled how Joshua always had a bright smile whenever he saw her. He was always so good to her.
âDid my dad know?â
âHe didnât at first, but he found out later.â Grace closed her eyes in sorrow.
It was shortly before Allisonâs 11th birthday. Due to a fever, a blood test from the doctor revealed that Allisonâs blood type didnât match Joshuaâs. He had confronted Grace.
Grace didnât hide it, and she told him the truth. Joshua was so furious, he stormed out.
Three days later, on Allisonâs birthday, Joshua came back. From then on, his relationship with Grace began to deteriorate.
Allison remembered that day, she waited all night for her father to come home with her favorite cake.
His face looked terrible during that time. Looking back now, it all made sense.
Silence filled the room. Neither Allison nor Grace knew what to say.
After about three minutes, Allison asked, âDoes Penelope know?â
Grace shook her head.
âMom, just because of jealousy?â Allison was confused. âJust because of jealousy, you changed the fate of two families?â
âItâs an error I made back then, and Iâve regretted it for over twenty years. The one I owe the most to is you; itâs all my fault. Penelope has nothing to do with this. She doesnât know.â
âShe doesnât know? Sheâs lived my life for twenty years, and you think a simple âshe doesnât knowâ can erase that? You said it has nothing to do with her. What about me? Iâm the innocent one here.â
âIâm sorry, Allieâ¦â This sounded hollow, but other than that, Grace didnât know what else to say.
âYou told me this, arenât you afraid Iâll tell the Flanagan family?â
Grace had thought about it. âActually, I was planning to take this secret to my grave. I never thought things would turn out this way. Itâs completely understandable if you want to tell the Flanagan family.
They are your family, and they are your parents.
âPenelope has had a happy life for the past twenty years. Sheâs your sister, and youâre hers. The things she did wrong, you should blame me. Itâs all my fault. This has nothing to do with the two of you, so Iâll take responsibility for my mistakes.â Penelope was now engaged to Lucian. She saved Mirandaâs life, the Lindbergs wouldnât refuse to marry her, and Leah wouldnât make things difficult for her because of this truth.
Allison suddenly remembered something. âOh yeah, do you remember my bracelet? You took it off and gave it to Penelope. That bracelet was given to me by Lucian.â
