Chapter 464
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Thinking of Leah, her heart suddenly filled with pain. She had put up with Leahâs nagging for over twenty years. Now, the woman she loathed to the core turned out to be her real mom? This truth was a tough pill to swallow for Allison. Her inner turmoil stirred like a relentless stormy sea.
She got up and left the ward. In the hospital corridor, Allison stood there, dazed. Someone bumped into her, mumbled an apology, but Allisonâs gaze was vacant.
She just kept walking straight ahead until someone called her name from behind. Allison turned around, Dr. Dylan jogged up to her and said, âYou left your cell phone.â
Allison took it, and Dr. Dylan continued, âIt kept ringing when you passed out, so I answered it for you.
Your friend said sheâs on her way.â
Allison glanced at her phone. It was a call from Emma. Only then did she remember that she had promised to have dinner with Emma tonight to discuss the script for their next show, but she totally spaced out. The shocking revelation tonight overwhelmed Allison and caused her to faint.
âDr. Dylan, howâs my mom?â Allison asked.
Dr. Dylan replied, âSheâs okay. Donât worry. Itâs a minor issue, but she needs to stay in the hospital for a few days.â
âAlright, Iâve got stuff to do, Iâll catch you later, Dr. Dylan, Allison said.
âAllison.â Dr. Dylan handed her a box of candies. âYou know you have hypoglycemia right? Donât overwork yourself, or your body will pay the price.â
Allison took the candies and said, âThanks.â
Dr. Dylan smiled and said, âSee you tomorrow.â
Allison left the hospital, called Emma back, and waited for fifteen minutes at the hospital entrance for Emma to pick her up.
Emma glanced at Allisonâs pallid face and asked with concern, âWhat happened? Is your mom okay?â
âSheâs fine.â Allison massaged her temples and leaned back in the seat. âI need a drink.â
Emma said, âItâs late.â
Allison replied, âIâm beat. I could use a drink.â
Seeing Allisonâs off-color face, Emma didnât know what had happened, but something was definitely up.
Was it something about Ms. Graceâs condition? Emma didnât press, and she simply drove to a nearby bar.
She looked around, parked the car, and then walked into the bar with Allison. She wasnât a fan of celebrities hanging out in such places. Once Allison hit the big time, such outings would become her Achillesâ heel.
Usually, Allison had strong self-control and wouldnât set foot in such a place, but tonight, she decided to let loose. Sitting in the bar, Allison took a sip of her drink, the icy liquid sliding down her throat. After the cold came the burning sensation, but Allison just kept chugging.
After downing three drinks, Emma quickly intervened, âDonât drink anymore. Youâll have a hangover tomorrow.â
Allison looked at Emma, her eyes were like deep, dry wells, eerily silent. Emma got spooked, and she quickly asked, âAllison, what happened? Is something wrong with Ms. Grace?â
Emma moved beside Allison, supporting her while taking the drink out of her hand.
Allison gave a bitter smile, shook her head, and said, âEmma, Iâm really upset. I donât know who to talk to⦠why did this happen to meâ¦â
