Chapter 486
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Two minutes later, a woman who looked about 40 years old ran up and grabbed the ladyâs hand, âMy goodness, why didnât you tell me you were coming up to the second floor? Iâve been looking for you everywhere.â
âRuby, I just met a girl and she seemed quite nice.â
As Ruby helped the old lady out of the elevator, she listened to her recount the recent event, âFrom what youâre saying, she sounds really good.â
âMmm, sheâs quite a looker too,â the lady said with a smile. âLetâs head home. Miranda is probably waiting for us.â
After a while, their car pulled up to the Lindberg residence. The lady got out and headed into the living room where Miranda came over to assist her, âMom, you couldâve sent Ruby if you needed something.
Why bother going out yourself?â
âItâs been a while since Iâve been to Northfield. I wanted to stretch my legs.â
Sabrina asked with a smile, âWhereâs Lucian? When is he coming back?â
âI called him, but Shawn picked up and said heâs in a meeting.â
Sabrina responded, âItâs good for young people to be busy.â
Naturally, Miranda was proud of her son, âAfter all, Carter did hand over Lindberg Corporation to him.
Heâs hardly been home this week.â
Sabrina was in town due to the upcoming wedding between the Lindberg and Flanagan families. She hadnât been able to come before because she wasnât feeling well, but upon hearing about Penelopeâs miscarriage and hospitalization after saving Miranda, she had been eager to visit and meet her future granddaughter-in-law. Now that she was feeling better, she finally made the trip.
Miranda said, âIâve discussed the wedding with Mrs. Flanagan. We originally planned to wait until Penelope recovered, but Mrs. Flanagan seems quite eager to get the ball rolling.â
Mrs. Lindberg chimed in, âItâs understandable that they want to speed things up, considering their daughter lost her child saving you. We do owe them something.â
Miranda sighed, âI get it. I think Penelope is quite nice. She saved Lucian after all. Butâ¦â She recalled her sonâs attitude toward Penelope and was somewhat concerned.
Sabrina asked, âBut what?â She had seen pictures of Penelope, and she could see that Penlope was a beautiful girl. Moreover, rescuing Miranda in a dangerous situation showed that she was a kind-hearted girl as well. The Lindberg family had a thriving business and the Brummett Group had a long history.
Although the Flanagan family was not as well-off, the Lindbergs were not ones to judge based on wealth. As long as Penelope was kind and of good character, that was all that mattered.
More importantly, Lucian liked her.
Miranda didnât hold back, âMom, you donât know, but Lucianâs attitude towards Penelope is somewhat strange. And Penelope, I liked her at first, but then I found that sheâ¦.sometimes sheâs not the same.
Sometimes sheâs gentle and generous, but other times she can be sharp and bitter, as though sheâs two different people.â
Sabrina said, âYou donât need to worry too much. As parents, we shouldnât interfere, too much in our childrenâs affairs. You remember when you wanted to marry Zachary, I wasnât so keen either.â The mention of the past made Sabrina visibly displeased.
Miranda laughed, âMom, that was ages ago. How do you still remember that?â
That year, Sabrina arranged many blind dates for Miranda with children from wealthy families. But Miranda was only interested in Zachary, who had no business interests and only loved literature and art.
Although Zachary was the son that Carter was very pleased with, he had no interest in the company affairs, and was only passionate about literary creation. He had no interest in the power struggle within Lindberg Corporation. Unexpectedly, in the end, Lindberg Corporation fell into the hands of Zacharyâs son, Lucian.
Although Lucian was Zacharyâs son, their characters were completely different. Lucian was more like Carter.
