Chapter 494
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Wilton balled his fists tightly, let out a sigh after a moment, and leaned against the wall. He fished out a cigarette from his pocket and took a drag. The pale smoke masked his handsome features.
Inside the ward, Daisy stared at the frail Frances. When Frances saw her come in, he tried to sit up with his hands braced on the edge of the bed. Daisy hurried over to support him, âCareful now.â
She placed a pillow behind his head. âHow are you holding up?â Daisy looked at his increasingly pale and weak appearance, guilt flooding her heart. If it wasnât for het, he wouldnât be in this state.
Frances noticed her teary eyes, and he managed a small smile, âIâm fine, donât worry.â
Daisy bit her lip. âIâm sorry.â
Her voice choked with emotion, âIâm sorry. I didnât know you were allergic to mangoes, and I didnât know there were mangoes in that cake. Iâm sorry⦠itâs all my faultâ¦â
Frances coughed a few times, a hint of redness appearing on his pale cheeks, âIâm okay.â
A warm smile graced his lips as he gently touched Daisyâs nose, his voice as soft as a spring breeze, âI believe you.â
Daisyâs eyes widened as a tear fell. It landed on Francesâ hand.
He flinched slightly. Her tear was so hot it made his heart hurt, as if it could melt the ice in his heart.
Daisy kept repeating âIâm sorry. Guilt filled her heart. Frances grabbed her hand, âItâs not your fault. I wanted to try it. I tasted the mango. Itâs been a long time since Iâve had it. I just wanted to try it.â
The more Frances said this, the guiltier Daisy felt. She knew she had been framed by Mina this time.
She had no defense.
Mina was Francesâ stepmother. She had been in the Boswell family for many years. She couldnât possibly not know about Francesâ mango allergy. The Boswell family had long banned mangoes from their home. There was no way Mina didnât know.
Daisy had rejected Minaâs request the night before, and was immediately set up by Mina. Now, Wilton was sure she was Minaâs mole. She had no words.
And Mina was using this incident against Daisy. Daisy knew that if she didnât accept Minaâs request, Frances would face more dangers.
After leaving the hospital, Daisy contacted Mina. She didnât have Minaâs number, so she called Ava.
âAva, I accept Minaâs request.â
Ava laughed, âMs. Mina said Ms. Daisy is a smart woman.â
Daisy replied, âThose shares, not one less.â
âOf course.â
Daisy looked up at the sun in the sky. She wanted to help Frances and could only agree to Minaâs request. This way, she could do something for Frances.
Allison was getting ready. She was shooting a cover for a magazine today. The magazine was a promotional product of a mobile phone brand. Although she was just starting her acting career, she already had a chance to shoot an inside page, which was pretty good. Allison wasnât too picky.
She was shooting with Sadie this time. Sadieâs situation was a bit different. She believed that once Cathyâs movie was released, she would get a big boost. As she had already got the female lead in Cathyâs movie, Sadie was now a rising star with promising prospects in the industry. This naturally made her a bit more assertive.
âBe careful, itâs my face, not a mannequinâs, Sadie told the makeup artist, âAre you from SUMI Studio? I want Jay to do my makeup.â
