Allison replied, “I need a press conference arranged in three days.”

Patty blinked. The confusion was written all over her face. “In three days?”

“I’ve got it,” Emma interjected quickly. “I’ll get everything set up right away.”

“And the lady who was at Epic Entertainment’s entrance,” Allison continued, “is she still here?”

Emma responded, “I had the receptionist take her to the lounge. Allison, do you want to go see her?”

Allison turned to Patty. Her tone was sharpening with each word. “Why wasn’t I told my mother was here? Why didn’t you let her wait in the lounge? Why was she kept downstairs? Why wasn’t she brought up here?” By the last question, Allison’s voice had risen significantly.

Patty explained hurriedly, “We didn’t know she is your mother the day before yesterday. Plus, with the current scandal brewing, the front desk is being extra cautious. They thought she might be some reporter posing as your mom, so they didn’t let her in. It is a misunderstanding.”

“Which lounge is Grace in?”

“Lounge number two.”

Allison rose to her feet, heading for the door.

Emma prepared to follow, but Patty held Emma back. “Why is she holding a press conference now?

The best thing to do in these situations is to stay cool, play it down. Calling the media now is like adding fuel to the fire, isn’t it? As her agent, you should be thinking about her long-term career. I’ve already had a professional PR team handle the scandal. If it weren’t for Allison clashing with the media, this wouldn’t be blowing up again. Emma, you should be advising Allison, not just nodding along with whatever she wants. Actresses can be impulsive when faced with issues, and you should be the one to stop her.’

Emma looked at Patty. Her respect for the senior agent was evident, but there were some matters on which she did not agree with Patty’s views. “It’s clear that the woman in those photos isn’t Allison. Why shouldn’t we clarify that? If we have solid evidence, we can set the record straight. I don’t think staying silent is the best approach. Allison has a long road ahead, and if we let this slide, it’ll just make it easier for anyone to tarnish her image in the future. They could just photoshop something and claim it’s her.

Patty’s gaze turned stern. “Emma, don’t forget who you are. This is Epic Entertainment, and you’re just a junior agent. You gotta know your place!”

Emma knew she was no match for Patty and didn’t want to cause any offense. “But Allison has already decided on the press conference. Usually, I might try to talk her out of things like this, and once she’s back on set, it’ll all be fine.”

“Because of this scandal,” Patty countered, “the start date for the film has been pushed back. The script’s already been delivered. Tell Allison to go over it in advance. Wade is already upset about the scandal, and I’ve been smoothing things over. Wade’s a senior in the circle. Surely, Allison’s got resources and Mr. Lindberg’s backing, but in this industry. you need to impress the seniors with talent and hard work.”

Emma agreed with Patty on that point.

“Enough talk. Wait for her by the lounge, and I’ll head back to the office. If anything comes up, contact me immediately. Don’t make any decisions on your own!” Patty dropped this before leaving.
