Chapter 84
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Chapter 84
Penelope attempted to speak but was interrupted by Christopher âWeâll discuss this later. Now, letâs enjoy the mealâ
She was a bit miffed, biting her lip, but for the sake of keeping her cool, she swallowed her resentment.
She looked up and saw Lucian looking elsewhere. His gaze was on Allison, who was walking out of the kitchen, seemingly making her exit through the back door.
She felt a pang of frustration and clenched her fists tightly
Allisonâ¦
Even in her plain clothes and a mask covering half her face, she still managed to catch Lucianâs attention.
She decided she wasnât going to let Allison off that easily!
Penelope gave Margo a silent nod Noticing her cue, Margo nodded back and quickly headed towards the kitchenâ¦..
Meanwhile, Allison had just finished the tasks Margo assigned to her. She planned to leave while the Lindbergs were eating to avoid another encounter with Lucian.
But as soon as she got home, she heard Lindaâs urgent voice. âAllison, come quickly.â
âWhatâs going on?â asked Allison
âMargo wants us in the living room right away,â Linda said.
Allison felt confused. In the living room? Wouldnât that mean facing the Lindbergs? Penelope wouldnât allow that, and why would Margo do this without instructions?
Without much thought, she immediately followed Linda.
In the living room, everyone had finished their meal and was sitting on the couch. The atmosphere was a bit odd.
Penelope, with reddened eyes and a face full of anxiety and sorrow, asked, âI still had the ring this morning. How could it be gone all of a sudden?â She looked at Lucian, her eyes flickering. âLucian, Iâm sorryâ¦
Lucian squinted his eyes slightly but said nothing.
Cora quickly comforted, âYouâre pregnant now, donât get too worked up.â
She gently patted Penelopeâs hand, âIf you still had it this morning, it might be somewhere around the house. Letâs see who was in charge of cleaning the room and if they found it.â
Lean glared at Margo, âWho was in charge of cleaning Ms. Flanaganâs room this morning?â
Margo replied, âMadam, Iâve already called the person who cleaned Ms. Flanaganâs room this morning.â
Christopher looked at Lean a bit displeased. This was a family matter, why make it so public?
Especially with Carter present, it was like making a spectacle of themselves.
When Allison arrived, besides her and Linda, Wendy, who was responsible for cleaning the upstairs bedrooms, was also there She heard Wendyâs anxious voice, âI really didnât see it. I even checked carefully when I took out the trash this morning I didnât leave anything behind⦠Wait, Allison! Allison was the one who cleaned Ms.
Flanaganâs room this morning!â
Allison paused as Wendyâs words drew everyoneâs gaze to her.
She looked up, her eyes meeting Lucianâs. A few seconds later, his gaze slowly drifted away, as if their previous encounter on the balcony never happened.
Even the most naive Allison realized she was in trouble.
Margo walked up to her, her face stern, âAllison, the missâs engagement ring is missing. Did you take it?â
Take?
Allison frowned. Wasnât this indirectly accusing her of stealing the ring?
That ring was what Lucian gave her when they got engaged. The Lindbergs had it custom made for the engagement, very expensive Penelope had always treasured it. How could it suddenly be gone?
Despite being puzzled, Allison calmly responded, âWhen I went to tidy up the bedroom, it was already cleaned. I didnât see the ringâ
Margoâs voice grew louder, âThe only ones who went to the bedroom were you and Wendy. Now, the ring is missing. One of you two is definitely lying!â
