Last Day of Being 16

Almost 2 years later

Its been almost 2 whole years now since I met Violet. Almost the entire pack has learned that she is my mate. Allison had told so many people at school. It spred quickly around the pack. I hated Allison for it but at least none of the boys tried to date her. Plus I still had Aaron keeping an eye on her. She's 16 now and will turn 17 in only a few days. I had bought her something special for her birthday and I couldnt wait to give it to her. I was still training some of the original group of 11. Most of them no longer needed the training but when one would leave, I'd pull in another young member. It was now a group of 12. Violet was no longer part of the group but she and I still had training after school every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Violet and I had grown very close. She told me everything and I made sure to always treat her right. She still had yet to figure out how to pin me but I knew she was getting closer. Any day now she will figure it out. I was currently in my office with Alex and Fred. Alex was explaining to us how he was planning on proposing to Cassie soon. We were trying to help him come up with an idea on how to do it.

The phone rings and as they continue talking I answer. "Hello?" I say into the phone. "Alpha Michelson of the Black Diamond pack?" A mans voice asks. "Yes." I say, sitting up slowly. "Alpha Michelson I am Alpha Pete Burns of Greenside pack. I am calling to ask for an emergency meeting." He says. I frown. "Emergency meeting for what?" I ask, now alert. Alex and Fred were now listening as well. "My pack is being threatened by a pack of rouges. You being a neighboring pack I feel it right to call all close packs for an emergency meeting." He tells me this and I nod slowly. "Alright, you are right we must meet immediately." I say, looking to Alex and Fred who are nodding and going through some papers. "Alright. The meeting is this Saturday, tomorrow, at 10am. Looking forward to seeing you there Alpha Michelson." Then he hangs up.

I frown as I put the phone down. "You sure about that Heath? I mean Alex and I could go. You stay for Violet's party. You did plan it..." Fred says, frowning. I shake my head. "I dont have a choice. I'm Alpha.. I must go." I say, standing as I do. They both nod slowly. I walk past my friends and out the door. Today being Friday I had training with Violet, also meaning I would be giving her a small part of her gift tonight. It was 2:10 and she got out at 3. I had to get there early for a little surprise I had in store. I go up to my room and grab the small box that held Violet's gift. Her other gift would be picked up on my way home tomorrow. I grab my keys and phone then run downstairs and out to my car.

I pass Anthony on my way down and stop to talk to him. He smiles at me. "You excited for tomorrow?" He asks. I frown. "I would be.. but I have to be at an Alpha meeting at 10... So I will be late for the party unfortunately.." I tell him. He sighs. "Heath it's your responsibility as Alpha to attend. Violet will understand. Besides, she wont care once she realizes the truth." He says, making me smile. I nod. "You're right. Well I have to go. I'm going to the school early to deliver a little something." I smirk and he laughs before walking away. I run out the door and to my car. Time to pick up the first surprise.

I got to the school after picking up the giant balloons and basket of candy. I pull up to the school and go inside. I walk into the office and see Cassie. Cassie had decided she wanted to work at the school a couple weeks after she moved it.  She smiles as she sees what's in my hands. "Should I call her?" She asks. I smirk and nod. "She won't know it's from me." I explain. She looks confused. I sigh. "I wrote on the card 'Can't wait for you to learn who I am little mate.' so I want her to receive it and be shocked. Then tomorrow when I see her, she will know." I say with a shrug. Cassie gives me a sad smile. She knew how much of a hard time I was having keeping this secret from Violet. The girl had stole my heart within the first week of being around her.

"Alright. I'm going to call her in now." She tells me. I nod and walk out. I step into the restroom where I knew she'd be walking past. I listen to Cassie's voice come over the intercom, calling Violet to the office. A few moment later I sense my little mate. I hear her walk into the office and I glance around the corner to see her gasp. Cassie laughs as Violet picks up the basket with a smile. She thanks Cassie then walks out again. I hide and wait for her to get to her class. I walk over and stand by the closed door to listen. I hear many of the girls making 'awe' sounds and I roll my eyes. I look at my phone. 2:57. The bell will ring soon. I go out to my car and lean against it like I do every time. I hear the bell and I look up for Violet. Time to act surprised about the basket.

I see her walk out of the building with her usual friends. One thing I was glad for was that her friends had no clue she was my mate. So none of them could accidently ruin everything. Violet walks down the steps and to my car, saying goodbye to her friends. "Who the hell did that come from?" I ask, eyeing the balloons. She laughs. "I'm not sure.. but I think I'll find out tomorrow." She says, smiling to herself. I smirk. "Why do you say that?" I ask. She looks up at me then hands me the card. I give her a confused look but take it and read the words I had made my sister write in fancy writing for me.

I nod slowly. "Sounds like your mate is cheesy." I smirk, handing back the card. She glares and me but smiles. "I like when guys are cheesy and romantic.." She says in a singsong voice that makes me smile. "Well sounds like you will find the perfect mate. He seems very cheesy and romantic." I say with a shrug. She nods and I roll my eyes. "Wanna set it in the backseat?" I ask and she nods quickly. I help her get it in the car, making sure not to mess anything up. "Ready for your final day of training before you turn 17?" I ask as we get into the car. She laughs. "Of course I am. I hope my mate doesn't mind me training with you though." She says, looking down. "Oh please, I doubt he will mind. Believe me, it will be fine." I say with a smirk. Her head snaps to me with a small glare. "You know who my mate is don't you!" She exclaims. I give her an evil smirk. "Maybe." I say, earning a punch to my arm.

"Why is he keeping it secret? Other girls who are my age already have mate that are older than them. Why is my mate making me wait till I turn 17?" She asks, her voice getting softer and her smile fading. I hold back everything in me that says to tell her the truth. "Violet I'm sure he has a good reason. Don't be so hard on him.. I'm sure it's important that it stays secret for now." I tell her, but don't look over, fearing that the look I may see in her eyes will cause me to blow it all. "I guess you're right. Besides, my mate cares for me right? He wouldn't do this without good reason." She says. I hear worry still in her tone. I stop the car in the usual spot. "Lets focus on our training for today." I say, now glancing at her. She smiles and nods, getting out of the car.

Training went as normal, however, on our last spare I got distracted right when I shouldn't have. Violet found a way to slip my foot from under me, making me fall to the ground with a thud, and her holding a fake knife at my throat. We had learned she worked better with a weapon. I growl lowly, realizing she had finally managed to beat me. She had most of her weight on me as she sat on my stomach. My wolf was going crazy. He was feeling more and more of the mate bond as the night got closer, and her learning the truth came closer.

She seems to finally realize what she'd done and she jumps off my with excitement. "I did it! I freaking did it!" She says, jumping around like a child who was hyped up on sugar. I sit up and watch her with a smile. I chuckle as I get to my feet. "Well look at that. The little one managed to use my weight against me." I say, smiling at her and shaking my head at her silly attitude. She looks at me and smiles. "I did it. I can't believe I finally did it." She. I laugh and walk over to where I set my jacket. I pick it up and pull the small box out. I turn and see Violet looking up into the sky. I walk over and hear her whisper. "See mom.. I can finally fight.." I step close behind her. "Your mom would be proud." I tell her. She nods slowly. I smile and put my arm around and in front of her, showing the box. She gasps and takes the box slowly. "Happy birthday Violet. I thought I would give you part of your gift early." I tell her. She turns to me with a wide smile.

"Well open it." I chuckle. She rolls her eyes and looks down at the box. She slowly opens it and her eyes go wide. "I never will understand your love for cats. But I know they are you favorite." I say, watching as she gently pulls out the cat necklace I had bought her. It held a blue diamond, which over time I had learned was her favorite color. "Well do you like it?" I ask, worried that she hadn't said anything. She laughs and nods quickly. "Of course. I love it Heath. Thank you." She says, then hugs me. I hug her back. "I'm glad you like it little one." I say. She giggles, making my smile widen. I pull away and take the necklace from the box. "Well turn around." I say as she looks at me with confusion. She shakes her head but laughs and turns, pulling her hair out of the way. I slide the necklace around her neck and lock it on.

I fix her hair and she turns to hug me again. "Thank you again. For the necklace, but also for training me." She says more quietly. "Anything for you little one..." I say softly. She pulls away and smiles. "I can't wait for tomorrow." She says suddenly. I frown. "Oh yeah.. I almost forgot.. Vi I'm going to be a bit late to your party." I tell her, rubbing the back of my neck nervously. "Why? Is something wrong?" She sounds concerned. "I have an emergency Alpha meeting. A few Alphas in the area are all meeting tomorrow morning to discuss issues of a rouge pack that is forming." I explain to her. She nods. "That's alright I understand Heath." She says, making me smile. I nod. "Let's go eat. You deserve a birthday dinner but also a congratulatory dinner for beating me today." I laugh and she looks at me with an evil smirk. "It won't be the last time either!" She exclaims before dashing off towards the exit. I chuckle and follow after her. Tomorrow will be interesting.
