To Love Him | ✔

Sammy Walcott

Personally I'm not one to have feelings. Or so I thought. I've never had a girlfriend. I don't go out with girls and I'm not attracted to any.

Andrea Harper is the only girl that I've ever glanced out twice. And its because I'm attracted to her or anything its mainly for the fact that's she's the exact definition of cute. She has this small petite frame, really long hair and huge glasses on her small face with a freckled nose. To say that her eyesight is bad would be an understatement. Some freaks make fun of her because of that and I make sure to put them in their place. Behind the scene that is.

So you can say that I don't understand anything pertaining feelings at all. The only feeling I actually understand and is very familiar with is the feeling of anger. I've dealt with that all my teenage life and I'm still dealing with it.

I toss the love letter that fell out of my locker into the trash, after having the courtesy to read it. I grade it at a B, the girl-- Maryam, I think-- did well. I hear some girls groan and whine behind me but I just walk away heading back to the library. Elijah and Wilson were waiting for me there.

Wilson was staring at Elijah, Elijah was trying to focus a book and not on Wilson's stare that was clearly making him uncomfortable. I smacked Wilson on the head making my presence known.

"Quit staring."

"He's a celebrity." Wilson groaned out holding his head.

"No he's not." I correct, taking a seat. I poked Elijah, "what are you trying to read?"

"Some book." He says lifting the book up, like a dummy that he is. "Why are we in a library? Anywhere else please."

"Sorry, you're stuck with me remember." I say and he smiled shaking his head.

"Yeah I am. Too bad you includes library."

I shrugged turning back to Wilson. He was smiling at me and Elijah and I frowned glaring at him. "Oh come on, why do you always frown at me?"

"Cus you're dumb." I answer opening up our work for today.

He nudged me, "Well that's why I spend unbearable hours with you. If I'm still dumb, then you're obviously quack."

I chuckle, "me quack?" He bobbed his head, folding his hands together. "Do you know how many would love to be in your place?"

"Do you know how many would love not to be in my place?"

My jaw dropped at him. "I'm so dumping you."

His eyes widened, "um boss. We're joking right?"

I shut the book, throwing it back into my bag. "Come on Elijah, let's go."

"Boss? Boss? Boss please!" Wilson shouted and was soon grabbing my arms, "please boss, I'll never open my mouth again. I'll even sew it shut. Never again shall I speak rubbish about you. Never! You're a genius. A professor even."

Elijah and I burst out laughing before I returned back to the seat. Wilson realized I was playing with him and grumbled back to his seat. "That was a low blow even for you boss. You know my mother if you ever dump me. In fact she told me that I shouldn't come home when that happens."

"Good for you then, next time you shut up." I warned ticking his forehead with my finger. He frowned glaring at me, when I glared back, he lowered his head mumbling incoherent things.

"I'm so jealous. Its not a joke." Elijah groans out from his seat.

Wilson smiles, "Sorry senior Eli but he's all mine."

"He's my best friend you little runt. Mine. Not yours." Elijah counters.

"Best friend? Ha senior Sammy is my everything, beat that." Wilson says sticking his nose up in the air.

Elijah gapes at him, then me, then him again. I resist a smile and open up a new work for Wilson. Elijah turns to look at him book frowning, while I try to concentrate on tutoring Wilson. But my concentration is divided.

I have this urge to keep looking at Elijah, its not like a smile that I can resist. My head keeps turning to him and the times our eyes meet, I feel all weird inside and my ears heat up. The times our eyes don't meet and he's concentrating on the book he clearly doesn't understand, I feel disappointed.

After my tutor session with Wilson, he leaves and I do a little bit of reading myself. Then Elijah complained to be hungry.

"All this reading has made me hungry. Let's grab a bite Sammy."

"I don't have any money on me." I  told him truthfully. I don't bring money to school. Lunch is for those who can afford it.

Elijah smiled, "even if you did, you don't expect to pay right? Not when I'm there. Let's have lunch Sammy, its on me."

I frowned watching him. After a minute I wordlessly gave in. I could use a little food right now, especially since its free. I helped Elijah out and into his car, then drove us to the nearby eatery where I normally see our students flow in and out from.

Elijah who claimed to be 'hungry' ordered some kind of salad with a fancy dressing for himself then he ordered a full plate of chicken nuggets, large fries plate and a double sized shake for me.

"Dude, do you plan on stuffing me up?" I asked staring at the other things he was ordering up for me. The onion rings stopped me from complaining.

"Teaching that annoying kid must have been tiresome. Eat up." He says giving his card and a charming smile to the waitresses.

I chuckled tossing a delicious fry into my mouth, "Wilson is not annoying."

He scoffed. "I don't like him one bit. He claimed you, can you imagine the guts?"

"You're not serious at all. Stop being so possessive already." I joked.

He smirked, "You've not seen possessive. You're mine Sammy Walcott. Mine. Mine. Mine."

I laughed, "Would you keep your voice down. I'm your best friend, nothing else. People might get the wrong idea."

"That what? We're lovers?" He asked his amusing tone disappearing a bit. I didn't answering him, I just drank out if my shake.

"And what's so bad about that?" Elijah asked softly, so softly, it was barely loud enough to be considered a whisper, but I heard him and I think my ears are deceiving me.

"What?"

He looked up at him, then smiled. "Nothing. Meaningless food talk."

"Oh." Was all I could say, before returning back to my food. I am really hungry but now I'm so used to being hungry, I barely notice it. "Stop staring and eat your lame salad."

"This is Italian you idiot."

I tsked, "Wilson never insults me."

"Dude!" Elijah called causing me to chuckle. He sighed, "You have no idea how I'd love to give you a mark."

I choked on my fries, "a m-m- a what?"

Elijah looked surprised like he didn't expect to say that. "Um-- to show you're my-my best friend. So Wilson would stay off."

"Oh." I said again, at lost for words. I don't get Elijah, its like, he's turns weirder everyday. "You're a weirdo. I should give you a mark too, on your forehead, so peeps would stay away and you won't get to give your weirdness disease to anyone."

"On my forehead? Nah, I prefer my neck." He says smirking.

I shake my head at him. "Freak."

The lunch was soon over, faster than expected. Although Elijah is a complete weirdo, I love spending time with him. Then I forget my problems and I don't have to go room. Things are free with him. Happy.

I drive him home and help him to the front door. "You sure you'll be fine from here?"

"Yes, I'm okay." He says balancing his clutch down.

I gave him a look over, praying that he doesn't stumble and fall. And what if he applies too much pressure and worsens everything. "What about the stairs? Can you go up alone."

He smiled, "Yea I can. Don't worry, I can always yell or text you."

I nod, giving in and I make to go but his hand clamp on over mine and I turn back to him.

"Thanks a lot Sammy. Really. Best friend or not you are the best." He says looking all serious.

I smirk, "I know. And no problem, fortunately, you were bearable today."

He chuckle nervously, his hand brushing over his hair. I frowned at him. Why was he nervous all of a sudden. I got my answer when after another 'thanks Sammy' he pressed a kiss to my cheek before disappearing into his house.

The kiss was light. Really light and quick. His lips merely brushed over my cheek but seconds after I could still feel it as I stood frozen on the porch.

Oh fuck.
