To Love Him | ✔
Sammy Walcott
Someone was watching me.
Someone was on my bed.
Someone's hand was over me and...
Something was poking my thigh.
My heavy eyes fluttered open. I was so tired and the arm around me wasn't helping matters. Alarmed, I forced myself to turn to a side only to see Elijah next to me. Although his eyes were closed, I knew he was awake. He just shut his eyes now pretending to be asleep.
"You've got to be kidding me." I groaned face palming myself.
Elijah spent the night over. Mona locked him out last night, apparently we had come back too late and God forbid she disrupts her beauty sleep. Having no other place to go, Elijah had to come with me. I would have told him to sleep at the couch but I didn't want to risk Dennis seeing him and making a fuss out of nothing.
But I clearly remember giving him an extra blanket and pillow to make himself comfortable anywhere else other than my bed. I don't remember him joining me here. Gosh, we spent the night on the same bed? Gahhh.
"Stop pretending, I can tell you're awake."
I saw him fight a smile before giving an exaggerated yawn. "Oh hey Sammy."
I glared, "what are you doing here?"
"Sleeping. Was sleeping."
I sighed, "when did you sneak in?"
He smirked, "immediately after your first snore."
"I don't snore and that's not the point here."
He chuckled, "Well with all the rain I was cold, figured it'll be a good idea to sleep close. I've not had such a good sleep in months."
"Yeah right, because of you I didn't have a good sleep." I lied before reaching down to remove whatever it was that was poking me. However, my hand, the time and even the world seemed to freeze by the time I realized what it was poking my thigh. The frozen moment was broken by Elijah's soft moan after which the room seemed to shake by the time he landed on the floor.
"Fuck you Elijah." I yelled running into the bathroom to save myself from further embarrassment and also hide my blush.
"Ouch." Elijah exclaimed before he burst out laughing, "come on, I'm not the one who asked you to touch me there. I have no control over that."
"Get out."
"Can I at least take a bath? We can save water by bathing together." He proposed.
I immediately locked the door, "Get out, pervert."
"Gosh you're no fun."
I sunk into the bath tub placing my hand over my racing heart. Elijah is going to be the death of me.
By the time I was out of the bathroom, Elijah wasn't in the room anymore. I sighed sitting on the bed and weirdly missing his presence. Maybe I shouldn't have shoved him out of the bed. I mean, even I would moan if I was touched there. I moved to the mirror to check myself. I had a red spot on my cheek from the fight last night but other than that, I was perfectly fine. Happy even.
--*--*--
"Why are you still here?" I asked through my gritted teeth, my palms fisted on my thigh.
"You dad invited me for breakfast." Elijah answered surprised at my behavior.
"Why didn't you decline and... please it's step dad."
"Why should I?" He looked around as if checking for a spy, "is there something wrong? I should leave?"
I nodded, "Yes, you should lea--"
"And the waffles are ready." Dennis's deep voice announced as he walked into the small dining with a full plate of waffles, "you're going to love this er..."
"Eli."
"Eli, Melissa's meals are the best." He finished up, dropping the plate on the table and turning to smile at me. I tensed up and if it was possible my hands fisted more, I pretty sure my knuckles are white now.
Its funny how a day can start off good and become so horrible the next minute. All my happiness and good-to-go attitude from this morning was immediately washed away by the time I came downstairs and met Elijah and Dennis talking by the dining. Dennis immediately asked me to join them for breakfast like it was the most normal thing ever. Maybe for other families but not for mine.
The last thing I wanted was for Elijah to meet Dennis, my step father. The less attachments I have to him, the easier getting rid of him will be. And he could do anything. Dennis didn't care about our family image at all, he could create a scene now and Elijah would know everything about our living condition.
I was still tensed and practically on pins and needles when I felt a slightly larger palm cover over my fist. I turned to Elijah, a bit startled by the gesture. He looked calm and had a smile on his face, like he wasn't doing anything unusual. When he finally turned to me he said, "Chill, I'm here. No volcano would erupt."
"Are you saying your presence prevents Volcanic eruptions?" I asked my fist relaxing gradually under his touch.
"Yup, its my super power." He added with a wink.
I was about to smile but then I remembered that Dennis was with us and I didn't.
Mum joined the table soon and breakfast was in full swing. Mum didn't say anything unlike when Mona was here and she chartered away happily. Now, she was edgy and pretending to be the perfect happy wife.
"So Eli, you and Sammy must be very good friends. He has never brought a friend home before." Dennis said eating and gesturing his fork to me.
"Yes, Sammy and I are really close."
"Funny how he's never talked about you."
Elijah turned to look at me, "Yeah, well, we haven't been in touch for a while now."
"Hmm." He nodded chewing on, "well Sammy never talks to me anyway, he's so uptight and such a nerd."
"Sammy? Uptight?" Elijah laughed, "you must not know him very well then. Sammy is the most amazing guy in town."
"That's true." Dennis said with a laugh. "I'm so proud to have a soon like him. I actually love him more than I would have loved a biological son."
I fisted my palms more, my fork threatening to break through the plate. Love my ass. Elijah's hand tighted around mine and I calmed down again. I'm glad he's here, he has the special power to make me happy, less tense and less angry.
Breakfast was over quickly, thanks to Elijah. He noticed how uncomfortable I was and finished up fast. We left the house and finally I could breath freely.
"Great. Now you can get lost, I'm tired of seeing your face." I said to Elijah about to head to my work place.
"Me? My beautiful face, do you know how many people kill to have a face like mine? Or even spend five minutes with me?" He asked, I scoffed and before I knew it he had me in a headlock. "You love me and you know it."
"Let go of me you asshole." I yelled shoving him off with a chuckle. "Don't touch my hair, ugh."
His hand reached out soothing down my stubborn curls. "There, I'm sorry."
I looked up at him strangely, "You're apologizing? That's a first."
"That's because I don't want you mad at me. Let me take you to work." He said swinging his arm around my shoulder.
"No." I replied shoving his hand off me. "Go home."
"Pleaseeee?" He asked holding unto my hand, just like last night.
I smiled unable to push him away again. I didn't even want him to leave, I could spend all day with Elijah and not get tired.
"You're a pest, you know?"
"A handsome sexy one, yup."
