Not My Girlfriend

The barrage of harassment calls continued.

Eventually, Bo Yi resorted to wearing headphones so that Fang Yuan could have a peaceful ride. He reluctantly answered the call.

“Yi, you finally answered my call…” Cheng Yuqi’s voice trembled with tears. “I had no idea that Grandpa would have such a severe reaction after consuming the soup I made. I never intended for this to happen. I heard that the Mind-enhancing Powder was highly effective for heart disease.”

“So I made the soup, added some Mind-enhancing Powder to it, and delivered it to Grandpa…”

“I genuinely believed it would be beneficial for his health, but I never expected it would worsen his condition…”

“It’s all because of the person who concocted the medicine. He must have deceived me. He put the harmful medicine up for auction. I’m at fault for failing to distinguish between the two. I was deceived…”

“I truly had no knowledge of any issues with the medicine. If I had known, I would never have purchased it, nor would I have allowed Grandpa to consume it!”

“Yi, you have to trust me…”

“Are you finished?” Bo Yi had no patience to listen to her sobbing. He hung up the phone as soon as she finished speaking. Removing the headphones, he noticed Fang Yuan’s complicated expression as he drove. “Yes?”

“She seems to be crying inconsolably. I overheard everything…” Fang Yuan wasn’t quite sure what the situation was about, but it sounded incredibly distressing.

“She’s the one responsible for Grandpa’s death. She’s begging for forgiveness,” Bo Yi explained.

“Oh…” Fang Yuan noticed they were nearing Lily Park. “I can just get off here.”

Bo Yi replied, “I’ll drop you off at the garage once it gets dark.”

“No need.” Fang Yuan didn’t want anyone to see her car or license plate, as it would attract too much attention. She decided she would opt for a more discreet vehicle the next time she went out.

“Can you manage on your own?” Bo Yi observed the park, still under construction, with limited street lighting. Many areas were engulfed in darkness, and the road leading to the underground garage was even dimmer. She was just a young girl—wasn’t she afraid?

“I’m not a coward,” Fang Yuan dismissed any concerns. She was unfazed by such an environment. She had experienced much worse, and just as she was about to unbuckle her seatbelt…

“Allow me to assist you.” With those words, Bo Yi leaned closer to Fang Yuan, emitting a pleasant fragrance.

At such a close distance, Fang Yuan couldn’t help but notice the man’s remarkably attractive features. Even his skin appeared flawless, devoid of any visible pores.

He gazed at her earnestly. “Let me know when you have free time.”

“Okay,” Fang Yuan agreed.

Bo Yi exited the car first and approached the front passenger seat to open the door for her. After she stepped out, he helped her with the bag and handed over the desserts she had purchased along the way. “Have some when you get hungry tonight.”

Fang Yuan had initially intended to decline, but when she looked into his eyes, she found herself unable to refuse. So, she reached out to accept them.

However, in that brief moment, her hand accidentally brushed against Bo Yi’s hand. The intense warmth caused her heart to skip a beat, evoking a peculiar sensation within her.

Seeing that she was taking things away and was about to leave, Bo Yi could not help but call out. “Fang Yuan.”

“What?” Fang Yuan turned around and looked at him, confused. But Bo Yi said seriously, “That was not my girlfriend.”

Fang Yuan. “….”

Bo Yi said, “She was truly just begging for mercy!”

Fang Yuan. “….”

Bo Yi said, “I don’t know her well.”

Fang Yuan was speechless. “Okay.”

“Be careful.” Bo Yi calmed himself down. “If you are scared, I can keep you company on the phone.”

“No need, thanks.”

Seeing the girl disappear into the night, Bo Yi returned to the car, and that cool and exquisite face of hers kept appearing in his mind.

Fang Yuan had just walked into the underground garage when her phone rang. She took it out and saw that it was Bo Yi.

“Did you find the car?” Bo Yi asked.

Fang Yuan found that funny. “I have just found it and you haven’t left?”

Bo Yi said, “Okay, I will wait for you to leave with me.”

“No need, thanks! I will take the other exit.” With that, she pressed the unlock button of the car. “Heard that? I am getting on the car.”

“Okay, be careful on the way home.” Bo Yi hung up the phone and dialed Mu Qing’s number. “I am going to the Cheng Family tonight, make a plan.”

Hearing that, Mu Qing suddenly got excited. “Master Bo, are you going to settle the score with Lady Yuqi because of what happened today? But Lady Yuqi didn’t mean any harm…”

Bo Yi said, “Not her.”

“Then you understand Old Master’s intention? You want to invite Lady Yuqi to visit Old Master at the hospital with you tomorrow? If Old Master knows about this, he will be very happy!”

He looked into the distance and said with a low voice, “I am going to speak with Uncle and Auntie Cheng.”
