163. Confrontation

Qi Le’an recognized that the person who said this was called Robert. He was the spare actor for the character of Othello.

He had never seen this person before. This afternoon, Qi Le’an only found out about his existence when he arrived late.

“Shush! Keep your voice down!”

Qi Le’an looked through the crack in the door and saw that the person who responded to Robert was also a spare actor. He didn’t remember this actor’s name.

The theater group’s working environment was very good. Every one or two actors would have an exclusive room for practice. Qi Le’an’s training room was in the innermost, so he heard these words when he walked back.

“Why should I keep my voice down?”

Robert’s voice was full of mockery. Qi Le’an glinted coldness in his eyes. Then, he raised his phone and started videotaping.

“Chinese Pig! Who does he think he is? Oh, oh, he must have fawned on Jenny!”

Another spare actor tugged at the corner of Robert’s shirt and said nervously, “You want to get in trouble? Stop talking!”

Maybe Robert was drunk so he just wouldn’t listen to others’ advice. “I heard that he came here because he couldn’t survive in their country! Did you hear his pronunciation this afternoon? How weird!”

“He is just a pig! A pig should get out of here! This is an elegant place!”

“We must teach him a lesson!”

Hearing this, Qi Le’an finally couldn’t help but kick open the door with his phone!

The people in the room were startled at first. When they saw that it was Qi Le’an, the air of horror on their faces turned into an air of contempt.

“Oh, look at him! A little mouse eavesdropping!” Robert’s sarcastic face appeared so annoying. He didn’t notice that Qi Le’an’s phone was recording.

“Please apologize for what you have said!” Qi Le’an said seriously.

“Apologize?” As if he had heard some joke, Robert made an exaggerated expression. “Mate, are you insane? You’re not mistaken! Do you know where this is? This is New York! It’s our white man’s territory!”

Qi Le’an finally realized that this Robert was a serious racist.

He didn’t even want to communicate with such an unrepentant man so he just turned around and left with a cold face.

There was a burst of strong laughter behind him. Robert said out of breath, “Look at him! He is also a coward!”

Qi Le’an lowered his head and turned off the videotaping button.

He returned to his training room, grabbed the script and clothes, and immediately left the theater building.

Wei Changfeng happened to arrive at the door. Before he could call Qi Le’an, he saw Qi Le’an coming out. Then he said, “Le’an?”

When Qi Le’an walked nearer, he took a closer look and found that Qi Le’an was furious.

Seeing this, Wei Changfeng just stopped the car and got out of it, asking, “What’s wrong? Are you bullied?”

Looking at Wei Changfeng’s worried eyes, Qi Le’an hugged him and said, “Let’s go home. I’ll tell you what happened.”

Wei Changfeng nodded and got Qi Le’an into the car.

Without a word all the way, Wei Changfeng entered the house and served a dish of warm spaghetti to Qi Le’an. When the two of them sat in the living room, Wei Changfeng asked, “What happened?”

Qi Le’an gave the phone to Wei Changfeng and ate the spaghetti without relish.

Wei Changfeng played the video on the phone and frowned after watching it for a few seconds.

“This is so irritating!” Qi Le’an, who heard the voice again, said angrily, “This person is called Robert. I thought it was about the character… I didn’t expect him to be a scumbag!”

After playing the video, Wei Changfeng said directly, “Quit the opera.”

Qi Le’an was unwilling to do that. He asked, “Why? If I quit, he will get the part!”

Wei Changfeng didn’t want Qi Le’an to get in more trouble so he said, “Give this video to the lawyer and refuse to take part in it anymore. Then, Robert will pay the price he deserves.”

Wei Changfeng’s solution could be the best one. Robert was an extreme racist. No one would figure what he would do. Moreover, in the video, he made it clear that he would teach Qi Le’an a lesson.

They were in a foreign country, where public security couldn’t be compared with the homelands. Violent incidents were happening every minute. Wei Changfeng was worried that Qi Le’an would be hurt.

But Qi Le’an couldn’t put up with this! Now that he and his motherland were insulted like this, he shouldn’t just run away!

Wei Changfeng understood what Qi Le’an meant and then he said, “No, Le’an, this is not being a coward but a rational solution. Leave it to the lawyer. Trust me. Someone will let him know that he is wrong.”

Qi Le’an looked at Wei Changfeng, his eyes full of unwillingness. “No, I have to let him know he is wrong in my way!”

Wei Changfeng frowned and said, “Le’an!”

Qi Le’an threw the fork onto the plate, causing the sauce in the spaghetti to splash everywhere.

“He is a spare actor for the part of Othello! If I leave, he will get the part! When the lawyer deals with it, it will be too late! I will never quit and run away. I will give this video to Jenny! He is the one who should leave but not me!”

Wei Changfeng was shocked that Qi Le’an would be so angry.

Qi Le’an felt a little upset and didn’t want to stay here any longer. He stood up, went back to the bedroom, and closed the door in a slam.

Wei Changfeng looked at the half-eaten spaghetti and didn’t understand what wrong he had done.

That night, the two of them didn’t sleep together. Wei Changfeng stayed on the sofa outside for the night. The next morning, he heard Qi Le’an get out of the house.

When he got up from the sofa, Qi Le’an had already run downstairs. Wei Changfeng could see his back from the balcony.

Wei Changfeng quickly wiped his face and followed him, afraid that Qi Le’an would be hurt.

Qi Le’an was angry for a whole night and he had conceived a solution.

Racial discrimination was a big issue. Probably, Robert was not welcomed in the theater group. Qi Le’an planned to meet Jenny and tell her about it this morning. He must express his attitude clearly.

If Robert wasn’t expelled, he would quit.

There were only a few days before the show, so Jenny couldn’t afford to let others play Othello now. Besides, once Robert’s racial discrimination was exposed, the whole theater group would be affected.

He felt that Jenny would take his side.

Everything went as Qi Le’an imagined. When he arrived at the theater, Jenny greeted him warmly and he asked Jenny to come to the training room with a serious face.

“What happened? An?”Jenny asked with a surprised look.

“I think you should take a look at this.” Qi Le’an gave the phone to Jenny. She fetched it confusedly and got astonished when she watched the video for a bit.

“Oh my God! An! I can’t believe such a thing would happen in the theater group!” Jenny covered her mouth and said, “Oh my gosh. I’m sorry. Le’an, I feel ashamed for him.”

Jenny’s reaction finally gave Qi Le’an a little comfort. He said, “I need him to apologize to me.”

Jenny returned the phone to Qi Le’an and said, “No problem. Le’an, no problem. He should apologize!”

“Robert didn’t come this morning. How about this? When he comes this afternoon, I’ll make him apologize to you!” Jenny promised.

Qi Le’an’s expression softened slightly, “Thank you then.”

Jenny immediately smiled and said, “This is what we should do. Le’an, practice first. We will talk about it this afternoon!”

Qi Le’an, who was assured by Jenny, finally felt relieved. He even sent Wei Changfeng a message saying that he could deal with the matter in his way!

What about Wei Changfeng? Wei Changfeng was called away by Professor John on the way to chase Qi Le’an.

Professor John had always wanted Wei Changfeng to stay in America for his career. Assuming that his student stood on the podium for receiving the Oscar Award as an Asian one day, how glorious would that be?

But Wei Changfeng’s attitude made him confused.

“Fynn, what are you hesitating about?” Professor John said earnestly and maternally. “The opportunity of Universal Pictures is very rare. Director Spear also likes you very much! He can completely bring you into Hollywood’s directing circle!”

Wei Changfeng looked at the teacher’s anxious expression and could only smile bitterly.

Of course, he knew what entering Universal Pictures meant for him. A few years ago, he made it to Hollywood as an actor, and he had achieved great success with his minor attempt. If he followed Director Spear this time, he would break through again and hit the peak.
