181. The Evening Party

That night, Qi Le’an went home and told Wei Changfeng about what happened in the fashion studio!

“I didn’t expect that Damien would be so handsome!” Qi Le’an exclaimed, “He’s so different!”

Wei Changfeng knew more about Damien. He said, “I heard that when he was still in high school, he was discovered by a talent scout but he insisted on being a director.”

Qi Le’an looked as if he finally understood it.

Wei Changfeng touched his head and said, “Rest early today.”

Qi Le’an was going to walk the red carpet the next day. He was a little nervous and asked Wei Changfeng, “Have Wei Sama been nervous before?”

Wei Sama had been acting since he was a child. Supposedly, he had never felt nervous before.

However, surprisingly, Wei Changfeng nodded and said, “When the movie ‘Interstellar’ was being publicized, I was very nervous.”

Qi Le’an widened his eyes as if he wanted to hear more.

Wei Changfeng smiled and said, “Back then, I just graduated from Tisch. It was a long while since I had been on that kind of occasion… The photographers kept taking photos, making me somewhat nervous.”

“What happened next?” asked Qi Le’an.

Wei Changfeng shrugged and said, “Nothing. I stopped feeling nervous when I stepped on the stage.”

Qi Le’an thought that Wei Changfeng could share some experience with him but Wei Changfeng just stopped talking…

And the next day, Qi Le’an realized why Wei Changfeng didn’t tell him the story after that.

At four in the afternoon, the assistant came to pick up Qi Le’an. Qi Le’an set off from home and arrived at the fashion studio in half an hour. Holding a brush, Guoqing patted Qi Le’an’s chest and assured that he must make Qi Le’an rise to fame overnight.

At half-past five, everyone was ready. Damien got into a car first, while Emma wearing a red dress and holding a white purse sat in the car behind Qi Le’an together.

Emma came two hours earlier than Qi Le’an. It was said that it took half the time to do her hair. When she was in the car, she didn’t even dare to move in case of ruining her hairstyle.

Under the circumstance, Qi Le’an became nervous. He looked at his hair and then checked his bow tie.

Emma noticed Qi Le’an’s movements and smiled, “Don’t be afraid, my little prince, you look so great today!”

Qi Le’an didn’t know if she was comforting. With a smile, he said, “Thank you, you are also very beautiful.”

Emma smiled and shook her head. “You are so reserved… let me tell you a joke!”

Qi Le’an put on a look as if he was ready to hear her.

“The first movie that Damien directed… is a movie called ‘Loveless City’. Have you watched it?” Emma asked.

Qi Le’an nodded. “Loveless City” was Damien’s first film as well as the film that got Emma to be nominated for Oscar Award. It was still one of the classics of romantic movies.

Although he didn’t win the award in the end, he was hailed as a “Fabulous Director” because of “Loveless City”.

Emma said, ” ‘Loveless City’ was nominated, so we attended the ceremony together. Everyone was very nervous. Tresse lost his watch before leaving. Only Enda looked somewhat better.”

“Then we were surprised at his temperament. He was so impressive!”

“When we arrived at the site, the award ceremony began. We suddenly found that Enda was missing and we couldn’t contact him anyhow. We were flustered rather than nervous. Tresse was about to call the police. Then, we looked for him until the ceremony was over. We spent three hours in total looking for Enda.”

“Guess what happened?” Emma blinked and said, “Enda was hiding in the bathroom!”

Qi Le’an was speechless.

Emma burst out laughing and said, “He had loose bowels because he was nervous!”

Qi Le’an thought about Damien’s serious face and also felt amused.

Perhaps because he was eased by talking with Emma, by the time they reached the entrance of the evening party, Qi Le’an was no longer so nervous.

It was a Hollywood occasion only! And he had walked the red carpet in China before! Why would he be afraid?

When the car came to a steady stop, Emma said smilingly, “Good luck!”

Qi Le’an took a deep breath and got out of the car first with a smile.

At that moment, all the flashlights were fixed on him. He noticed the astonished looks of the crowd and also heard them ask who he was.

He knew that this was his first time appearing in Hollywood as a Chinese actor. He couldn’t let anyone find any fault with him.

Qi Le’an bent over and pressed his hand against the car door for Emma to get off the car.

“Thank you, Gentleman,” Emma said with a smile.

Her appearance immediately caused another uproar. The media shouted her name crazily. She put her arm around Qi Le’an’s arm and looked around with a smile.

Qi Le’an smiled as well. The two of them walked into the banquet hall together. There was also media in the banquet hall. The two of them stood in front of the signature wall and signed their signatures, waiting for the media to take pictures.

Amidst the noises, Qi Le’an heard some words in his mother tongue.

“Oh my God! Who is that?”

“It’s Qi Le’an! It’s him? I thought he was blacklisted.”

“Qi Le’an! Qi Le’an! ”

Hearing some people call his name, Qi Le’an turned his head and found that they were from some famous media in China.

Why did the Chinese media appear here? This thought flashed across Qi Le’an’s mind and meanwhile, he was dragged away by Emma right after he let out a smile to the media.

“Let’s leave now or we can never leave,” Emma whispered.

Qi Le’an had to follow her into the hall. The media seats in the hall were not open yet, so the atmosphere was much more relaxing.

Damien was already sitting in the area for “Lala Land”, surrounded by quite a few people. A celebrity came over to greet Emma and she generously introduced Qi Le’an to them with delight.

“This is my little prince!” Emma said in spirit, “He is very cute!”

Qi Le’an looked at the actors and actresses he had seen in Hollywood blockbusters more than once and greeted everyone with smiles.

However, those celebrities were either interested or just being indifferent. They held doubts about Qi Le’an’s capability, and Qi Le’an even received a lot of disapproving gazes.

As to Damien’s movies, even the Hollywood stars had to compete for the male starring role. Yet, this time, the part was taken by a Chinese, about which the others were quite angry!

After a few minutes, Qi Le’an saw an acquaintance again.

“An!” The green-eyed director Amco ran over and laughed. “Damien took away my actor!”

The celebrities scattering in the hall suddenly cocked their ears! Being an acquaintance to Emma wasn’t a big deal. Yet, since Amco and Damien both wanted this man, he couldn’t be ordinary!

Amco’s words made the people around not dare to underestimate Qi Le’an anymore!

Emma exclaimed, “An, I can’t believe that you know Amco! What a coincidence!

Amco smiled and said, “Yes, we are close! Your Highness, I’m afraid that I’ll borrow your prince.”

Emma said with a smile, “Go ahead!”

Qi Le’an had long wanted to get away from this group of people. The moment he was dragged away by Amco, he felt relieved.

“I didn’t expect you to act in Damien’s movie,” In private, Amco put on a pitiful look and said, “I feel so hurt!”

Qi Le’an was a little embarrassed and said, “Amco…”

“You have to buy ten packs of Latino for me!” Amco interrupted Qi Le’an and said, “Ten packs, not even one less!”

Qi Le’an couldn’t help laughing and said, “Alright, I will prepare ten packs in different flavors for you!”

Amco’s eyes glistened.

“Do you want to have a rest behind the stage?” Amco asked again, “The dinner party will only start later. The media will enter in about twenty minutes.”

Qi Le’an thought for a moment and felt tired of putting on airs outside. So, he said, “Okay.”

Then, Amco led Qi Le’an to his exclusive lounge backstage and poured a glass of water for Qi Le’an, saying, “An, you look great tonight!”

Qi Le’an said, “I’m so flattered.”

Unexpectedly, Amco blinked his green eyes and said, “I mean it! An, you will become the most trendy person in the European and American circle tomorrow morning!”

Qi Le’an didn’t believe his words, but he still smiled and said, “If you want to shoot a new movie, you can come to me then.”

Amco yelled in grief, “I’m the one turned down by you, okay?”

Qi Le’an couldn’t help but want to laugh.

Amco glanced at the ring in Qi Le’an’s hand and exclaimed, “How come you have a ring after I didn’t see you for several months?”

Qi Le’an glanced at his ring. Because he had to attend the dinner party tonight, he put the ring on his middle finger. However, Amco had seen Wei Changfeng before, so it was evident that they must be engaged.

When Qi Le’an was about to speak, there was a knock on the door outside the lounge.

This was Amco’s lounge, so the comer must be coming for him. Qi Le’an signaled Amco to deal with his own business first. Amco made an apologetic expression and opened the door.

Outside the door, another Asian person said, “Hello Director Amco. I’m Li Zheyu.”

Qi Le’an glanced over Amco’s shoulder and saw Li Zheyu.

Li Zheyu also saw Qi Le’an in astonishment.

Three months ago, Hu Bin brought news that Li Zheyu was coming to America. Afterward, Qi Le’an had been busy and never paid attention to anything about Li Zheyu. Unexpectedly, Li Zheyu was standing in front of him.

Qi Le’an sneered. What a bummer!

Amco didn’t know Li Zheyu. He frowned and didn’t know what to say. Fortunately, an American was standing beside Li Zheyu. The American said to Amco passionately, “Amco! Long time no see!”

The person who greeted him was called Reyn. He was an investor who cooperated with Amco.

It was only then that Amco’s expression was a little better. He put on airs and said, “Long time no see. This is?”

Reyn acted like an old friend and said, “This is my friend. His English name is Fly!”

Listening to them talking, Qi Le’an sneered. Fly? Maybe he would be swatted later.
