Across the Hall (G.N.D. Sequel)
Evan's POV:
Lexi and I run to my bedroom like excited teenagers, but she quickly reminds me that she isn't a teenager anymore.
I'm shoved onto the bed and pinned down quickly. Lexi kisses me aggressively, and her hips pressing between my legs.
"Mm-" I mutter softly as she kisses me. She pulls back and her teeth hold onto my lip as she does. "Someone got more controlling." I grin.
She fights her smirk, "do you want me to stop?"
I grin slowly, "I like it." I assure her. It's nice to have someone actually ask what you like in bed rather than just giving you something and hoping it'll do.
I push every voice telling me how awful of an idea this is to the back of my mind, and my focus goes to the girl between my legs.
Both my thighs hug her waist and she kisses my jaw and neck repeatedly, making it hard for me to form words. She finally releases one of my hands and it instinctively goes to her neck, holding her against me while delicate whimpers slip through my lips.
Lexi's kisses move further down my neck, eventually running into my collar bone and shirt not long after. She pulls my back off the bed, undressing my top half with total confidence.
I lay back down, naked and vulnerable, happy to be both. She scans over my body and shakes her head, "Jesus Christ."
I smirk and reach up, grabbing her face, "shut up. Take yours off."
"Yes ma'am." She smirks.
My eyes narrow and I sit up (as much as I'm permitted) and my right hand grips Lexi's throat tightly. "Call me ma'am again and it'll be the last time you ever top me." I spit through gritted teeth.
She bites her lip and pulls my hand away, putting me back in my place on my back. "Yes.... ma'am."
Before I can even try to react to her taunt, her hand slips into my skirt, making my back involuntarily leave the bed to instantly form a sharp arch. "Fuck."
Another shift of her fingers and I'm exhaling slowly, waiting for her next move. "I said take your shirt off." I groan, my breathing uneasy.
She does as I ask, pulling it over her head and tossing it beside us. My eye is caught by some line work the size of my hand on her side.
"When the hell did you do this?" I ask her, my fingers tracing the spot.
She rolls her eyes, "that's really what you want to discuss right now?"
I bite my lip and look up at her, "touché."
She winks and shifts her position, this time removing my skirt and underwear entirely.
My breathing gets more and more unsteady the closer her lips get to my body, and I have no control over it.
She takes her hands along my thighs, glancing up at me as she kisses down from my sternum. The eye-contact drives me insane.
Finally, her lips and tongue slither between my thighs, making me gasp for air and fight to stay put on the bed.
As she enjoys herself between my legs, my hand finds a fistful of her hair and holds her where I want her, for as long as I want her there.
My breathing eventually slows, along with her lips and tongue. Lexi looks up at me and grins like a fool. The corners of my mouth turn up slowly and she rises to my mouth, kissing me slowly.
The taste of myself on her lips satisfies me on some level. "Five fucking years. I've deprived myself of that... for five fucking years?"
She giggles and kisses my jaw softly before laying her head on my shoulder, "I will happily make up for all five of those years... with interest."
"I might have to take you up on that. God, Lexi. You make me-" she cuts me off.
"Wet? I noticed." She grins, her lips touching my skin as she speaks. "It's fucking hot."
I bite my lip softly and her hand slides over my stomach and back between my legs, this time her fingers doing all the work.
I wiggle and whimper under her touch, but she meets my needs once again and plants another deep kiss on me.
"Best Monday I've had in a while." I confess, laughing quietly.
Lexi continues to kiss my lips playfully, "I agree."
I let out a deep sigh and put my hands on her shoulders, holding her at a distance. "God, I make such terrible decisions around you. I shouldn't have done that."
Her eyes roll, "can you stop doing that?"
"Lexi, I know it doesn't make a difference to you, but it does for me. I have to go to court and lie to Scott about my relationship status now, and I have to face you at work every day. This isn't just casual sex with no strings attached." I remind her, not able to stop myself from thinking about the consequences.
Her eyes roll once more and she grabs her shirt, pulling it over her head and laying at the end of the bed. "Who said you have to lie? And who the hell said I wanted 'no strings attached' sex with you, Evan? I'd hope you know me better than that."
I move from underneath her and dress myself in a tee and shorts, "Lexi..."
"No, I'm serious. Evan, you always do this. If you're so damn embarrassed that you have feelings for me and happily allow me to fuck you, why do you even do it?" Lexi's tone is much different than before, she's actually upset.
"Hey, I-"
"I'm going for a walk." She growls, ripping a shirt over her head and leaving the bedroom before I can even get my sentence out.
Well, the satisfaction I got from that was short-lived.

Lexi's POV:
Hours later
I walk into Evan's house after talking a while to calm down and think, and hear nothing but silence. It's only eight, so there is no way she's asleep already.
I creep through the house and stop at her bedroom, seeing her laying on her bed with a book in her hand.
"You came back, shocker." She scoffs, not even looking up from the text.
My brows raise, "I'm not a child who runs away from shit, Ev. I needed a moment."
She drops the book and presses her lips together, defensive. "Is that you trying to imply that I am?"
I come further into the room, stopping at the edge of the bed and resting my hands on the footboard. "No. You just piss me off... a lot."
She slowly grins and sits up, crawling to the end of the bed. "I do that to a lot of people, Lex. It's what I'm best at." She sits on her folded legs, just looking at me. She finally takes a breath and swallows her pride, "I'm not embarrassed to be attracted to you, Lexi."
"Hard to believe that, Evan." I groan, her actions reflecting the opposite.
She shakes her head, "look, you know me better than anyone else at this point in my life. I am sorry that I have all this madness going on and I can't just be carefree and happy-go-lucky all the time. It isn't just about me, Lexi. You know that." Her hand sits on top of mine as she speaks.
"I do know that. I've known that since I met you, Evan. I have a perfectly clear understanding of what your priorities are, and I totally respect them. I just can't understand why you think that you have to be single and unhappy in order to have yours kids as your number one priority, Ev. They aren't blind. They want to see you engaging in something that brings you an ounce of happiness just as much as I do, if not more." I tell her.
"You do not bring me happiness. You bring me a headache... and guilt." Evan jokes, pulling her free hand over her face. "God, Lexi."
I laugh and push her back by her shoulders, "rude!"
She looks up at me from where she lays, grinning. "I'm kidding."
I smirk and move myself around the footboard, dragging my fingertips over the comforter and eventually running into her leg. "I spoke to Mia."
Evan's smile drops and she sits up, grabbing my hand that rests against her leg. "And?"
"I'm gonna go home and talk to her. She wants to figure out the situation with the apartment and all that stuff." I sigh.
Evan bites her inner cheek, "oh, well that's... good? She say anything else?"
"Asked where I was staying, so I told her I was with you." I shrug.
"Mm, well that probably doesn't help my case any. She probably thinks you're fuc-" Evan stops and I raise my brows. "Oh wait, you did."
We both laugh and I trace her fingers with mine, thinking. I look over Evan's beautiful face and my tongue drags over my lip. "Evan, you are the most beautiful woman I have ever-"
Her eyes roll instantly and she grips my hand, "stop with the sappy comments and please kiss me, Lexi."

I wake up to a pillow being smacked into my face, followed by a series of cuss-words being mumbled as Evan literally jumps out of bed.
I roll over and shut my eyes, but she is not having it. "Lexi, wake the fuck up. We are late."
At this moment, it hits me that I do not live in a fantasy world. I have a job, and Evan is right... I am late.
I get out of bed too, seeing that we should have already left the house by now. Good job, Lexi... and Evan.
I follow Evan's naked self into the bathroom and she turns on the shower, stepping in and gasping instantly because of the frigid water. It makes me giggle to hear her bitch and complain about it, honestly.
I brush my teeth and decide to further irritate her. I step into the shower and pull the curtain behind me, and Evan immediately shakes her head. "Um, no. Get out. You're going to make me more late."
I giggle and step under the water, grabbing her chin and kissing her, "we'll both be late, and it'll be for a good cause."
She rolls her eyes and laughs, "Lexi, stop! I'm serious. I don't have time for this." Evan complains as my hands move over her wet body. "What happened to you going home last night?"
"You happened." I laugh, as if she doesn't already know what occurred last night in that bedroom. "It isn't my fault that we're late, by the way. You're supposed to be the responsible one who sets an alarm."
"Ha, ha." She grumbles, reaching around me for the shampoo, "it is your fault. I don't care what you say, your argument is invalid. Now move out of the way."
"Yes ma'am." I sigh, stepping to the side and letting Evan have the water.

The school day goes by without a hitch, and I'm grateful for it. I don't need anything to kill the mood that Evan has put me in.
We were both just a tiny bit late this morning, but I don't think anyone really noticed.
When the dismissal bell rings and the students flee, I hold tight at my desk to finish responding to a couple of emails.
"May I enter?" Her voice calls from the door.
"You may." I laugh, not even glancing at her. "How may I be of service?"
Evan sighs and walks around my desk, checking out the new little pieces of decor I added. "These are cute." She says, pointing to my plastic plants. "Good thing they're not real, you'd never keep them alive."
I roll my eyes and kick my feet up on my desk, "do you have any faith in me?"
She scrunches her nose, "depends on the day. I came to ask you what your plans are." She says. "And to remind you about calling Richard."
Shit. I actually forgot about that last part. "Oh, shit. I'll do that when I leave. I'm going to go back to my apartment after work and talk to Mia, I guess. She said she'll be there."
Evan nods and taps her nails against the wood, "okay. Do you think you'll come back to my house or?" She questions.
I cut my eyes at her, "why? Would you miss me if I didn't?"
She rolls her eyes and glances over her shoulder quickly, "shh. Quiet. I just... I wanted to be aware. That's all."
I nod my head and lick my lips, "I see. Well, I guess the answer to your question will depend heavily on how Mia and I's conversation goes. I can let you know though."
Her head nods again and she winks at me, "I'm heading out. See you."
I nod and watch her hips sway as she exits, entranced by the motion. Hell, I'm entranced by her existence.
As promised, I call Richard as soon as I walk out the door, not even sure what he wants with me.
"Ah, just who I was hoping to hear from." He answers my call.
"Hi, Richard. Evan asked me to call you?"
"Yes, yes. I just wanted to ask a quick question since you're the one handling the bill here." Oh boy. "I'm not sure how involved you are in Evan's situation, but her husband's group of attorneys have reached out to me and made it clear that playing nice is not an option. They're going to drag every penny they can out of this, and possibly even try to delay the hearing. If they succeed, I'll have to ask for an additional payment for my services. I wish I could-"
"Okay." I sigh, rubbing my temples. "If it comes to that, I'll work something out. But let's just... hope for the best. Please." I say, not wanting to think about dropping another grand on an attorney.
"Alright, Alexis. Well, I hope you enjoy the rest of your day." He says, not even bothering to bring up the breakup, which is a shocker to me.
"You too, sir."
I end the call there and drive to my apartment with a million thoughts in my mind.
When I go inside, Mia is on the couch, watching something. "Oh, hey."
"Hey." I say, feeling a bit of tension.
"How are you?" She asks me, standing up and walking to me, hugging me.
"I'm alright, you?" I ask her, realizing that I am the only one who is tense. Part of me feels guilty for sleeping with Evan so soon after our breakup, but at least I didn't cheat on her.
She sighs, "stressed, but hanging in there. How's Evan?" She asks.
A lump forms in my throat, "she's fine."
Mia catches on and laughs quietly, "nervous much?"
"No, I just don't-"
"It's fine, Lexi. I'm messing with you." She laughs, letting her hand slide down my arm. "I talked to the landlord and we aren't getting out of this contract without a hefty fine. So, we don't have many options." Mia explains, getting right to the point.
"What are the options?" I ask her, leaning against the nearest wall and looking around the place. I didn't think I'd be wanting to move out of this place such a short time after moving in.
She gives me a glare, "I mean... we could live here together as friends, or you could pay the money to break the contract." She shrugs, like it's no big deal.
"Ha, funny. Why would I have money to-"
"You had money for Evan's lawyer." She scoffs.
I get quiet and look at my feet, she's got me there. "Mia, I'm sorry that I did that, but it was important. I'd do the same for you if you had kids that you were trying to get back." I lie. I don't think I would do what I did for anyone other than Evan.
She rolls her eyes, "so I guess we just have to coexist in this apartment together for a while?"
"I guess so." I sigh, ruffling my hair. "I'll sleep on the couch."
She nods, "yeah, you will. We only have like four months left on the lease, so we can make it work. I'm sure I'll go out sometimes and you can have the bed, but we'll just have to take it day by day."
I nod, agreeing with her. Thank god our breakup wasn't nasty. Living with her would have been much worse.
She eyes me hard and shakes her head, "I know this is overstepping and it really isn't my business, but are you sleeping with her now, Lexi?"
I take a moment before I answer. My eyes meet hers and I nod slowly. She doesn't react in the way I imagined she would though.
"I hope she makes you happy, and thank you for being decent enough to wait until we broke up." Mia says, scratching her head. "I'm gonna go out and grab some dinner, I'll be back in an hour or so." Despite her not lashing out, I know it hurts her to hear it.
I watch my ex leave our apartment and my heart returns to a normal beating rate. Tense.
I call Evan to fill her in on the conversation.
"Evan's bed and breakfast." She answers, being a smart ass.
"You're so funny. Wow." I mutter. "You can close your B&B for the night. I'm staying here." I explain.
"Yeah? Where's Mia staying?" She asks. The pause before my answer gives her what she's looking for. "Oh, she's staying there."
"We can't break the lease unless we pay a shit-ton of money, so we're gonna ride it out." I sigh, closing my eyes and laying back on my couch. "And she knows I slept with you."
"Why did you tell her that? Jesus, Lex." Evan growls.
"Because she asked and I'm not a liar, Evan." I retort.
"You're going to make her hate me. You really need to learn how to deny shit and play dumb, Lexi." Evan groans. "It would save you a lot of trouble."
"Lying about stuff makes me feel bad." I explain. It's the truth. "And you should be grateful. At least you don't have to worry about me lying to you."
"Okay, whatever you say. I'll see you tomorrow I guess." Evan says.
"See you then, Evan."
I know Evan wouldn't mind letting me stay with her for a while, but honestly I don't know if its a good idea. She's already a bit apprehensive about the relationship that is rekindling between us, and I think she's going to both want, and need her own space. So, it looks like I'll tough it out here with Mia for a few months and take an occasional trip to Evan's so I won't lose my sanity entirely.
