Chapter 15

Quiet Waters (boyxboy)

So, as I said earlier, I'm a lazy teenager, and I still have other homework to finish, so this is another warehouse scene. It's pretty intense, but I still hope that you like it regardless, so enjoy!

Chapter 15: Paul's POV, Wednesday night, almost to the Whitman's house

I was still waking up as we pulled onto the familiar street which held the large house owned by Mr. and Mrs. Whitman. I was still shocked that I was living in it, to be truthful. However, I really wish that Cole could live with us, he'd fit right in with the rest of what I considered my 'extended family'.

As soon as the limo pulled up to the curb, I immediately ran out of the car, went up to the front porch, and dashed into the living room to find Mrs. Whitman on her laptop typing furiously as usual.

“Mrs. Whitman, do you know where Kent is?” I was about to ask her where Cole was, but I highly doubted that she wouldn't tell me because she would say that Cole could get in trouble for seeing me without 'legal supervision' present. So I settled for taking the easy way out by asking her where her son was, since Kent was bound to be with him due to his massive crush on my big brother.

“No, I haven't seen him since I got here, but more importantly, why are you home so early? The camp staff told me that you were sick...” Her voice trailed off into skepticism as sh closed her laptop.

I immediately started coughing since I looked more than well, and I didn't want to get in trouble.

“Why don't you go straight to bed, and I'll find Kent and tell you in the morning, fair enough, Paul?” Mrs. Whitman had her hands on her hips and was looking at me as if I revealed myself to be a giant moth who got lost in a person's home.

I reluctantly trudged upstairs, hating that my plan backfired on me.

I went into my bathroom and got ready for bed and slipped underneath the covers. Although I just couldn't sleep for some reason, so I stayed up playing games and reading underneath the thick covers.

I really should have just stayed at camp.

-Tyler's POV: Wednesday night, at the warehouse-

I was pissed and relieved that I had found the little fucker who had made me come here, yet I was also surprised that it was Kent who was the one behind this entire scheme. He also shocked me due to his lack of pants. Kent kept squirming despite me placing all of my body weight on his chest and holding one of my hands over his mouth while the other was holding both arms down so that he couldn't use them to break free of my grasp.

“So,” I growled at Kent, practically using all of the self control that I had to not put a bullet through his head from my pent up rage at him. “You're the bastard who's been toying with me all along, eh? You didn't trust me either did you? You've got a smart brain, kid, too bad you didn't count on making this much noise tonight, did you?”

I took out my gun and showed it to him and marveled at how his light green eyes widened in terror. I loved making people feel fear, it just made me feel as if I was living for something worthwhile.

I sighed as I looked at the gun now, staring in awe at its barrel and reveling in the scent of gunpowder covering the neck of the smooth metal.

I decided to prolong his torture before I killed him seeing that no one else was here to interrupt us.

I took the gun and aimed it at the ceiling and fired it, chuckling at the boom of the gun.

I also enjoyed how Kent had given up struggling beneath me and was crying, which wasn't as great as screaming in fear, but I'd take what I can get.

-Cole's POV: Wednesday night, in the warehouse-

I was running towards the sound of a loud noise, hoping that nothing bad had happened.

I wasn't too worried until I heard the gunshot; then I broke out into a full-on sprint to the sound of the gunshot while trying to stay hidden to the shooter, although I presumed that it was Tyler just because of how insane he really was.

When I peaked from behind a large structural support column made from cement, I saw one of my worst nightmares become a reality: Tyler was basically sitting on Kent while he was holding a gun extremely close to Kent's head.

Seeing this sparked a new kind of rage in me from seeing Kent in so much danger. I knew then that I would do whatever it took to make sure that he got out alive. It hurt me so much to see Kent laying underneath a psycho with a gun while he was crying; my Kent should never have a reason to cry as long as I have some sort of say in it.

I was busy thinking of a plan while I watched Tyler in terror until a plan finally came to me. It was horribly dumb and may even get me killed, but it would give Kent the chance to escape.

I stepped away from my hiding spot and took a deep breath in a measly attempt to calm my bundle of nerves.

“Hey, Tyler!” I called as loudly as I could, hoping he my shift his weight enough to let Kent snake his way from Tyler's grasp.

Unfortunately, Tyler's weight did not shift and Kent did not escape. Instead, Tyler turned to look at me and Kent just was panicking more now that he saw me.

“Get out of here, Cole!” Kent was practically screaming his lungs out as he tried to reason with me. “Tyler has a gun! Don't be stupid! Call the police!”

“No, I can handle this Kent, I have a gun too,” I said, sliding the gun out and raising it at Tyler's head. “Just trust me,”

“Please don't do this, Cole, don't be stupid, if you do this, the court won't ever let you see Paul again!” Kent had a new set of tears dripping from his face, and it pained me even more knowing that I was the one causing them. But Kent's words did get me to stop and change my plan a bit.

I then realized that I could argue that I was protecting myself and Kent as long as I didn't fire the first shot. All I had to do was make sure that the gun stayed away from Kent's head, and that Tyler didn't shoot me.

Tyler turned to me with a wicked smile that scared me a bit because of how unstable he was. He shifted his body so that he was still on top of Kent, but his body was actually facing me.

“Oh, you have a gun too, Cole?” Tyler pushed down a bit on Kent's body, making Kent gasp out in pain. I knew that he was provoking me; trying to get me to drop my guard around him so that he could take me down before he also got rid of Kent. “Well doesn't that make this a fun fight? I know, let's make this a game; we're in this huge warehouse, great choice of venue, might I add, and both of us have a gun, so it's fair for both of us. So why don't we play a bit of hide-and-go-seek? The rules are simple: we hide from one another, and if you find the other person, you get to shoot them dead.” Tyler flashed a grin that only a psycho-killer would make. “I'll even let you have Kent while you play, and I won't intentionally shoot him, I'll only aim for you, how does that sound?” Really? Hide-and-go-seek would determine if we'd walk out of this warehouse alive or not?

“Let Kent walk to me first, then I'll decide,” I said evenly, making sure not to let any emotions through my expression to alert Tyler as to what I was thinking.

Tyler nodded and got up from Kent and nudged Kent into my direction, like he was a little puppy who needed help finding its owner.

Dammit, I thought to myself as I noticed that he was standing in front of the back exit that I had used to enter the building, and I knew for a fact that Tyler had climbed in though a window to get into the warehouse since I heard him fall onto the leaves outside by his multiple curse words. So there was no actual exit besides the one that Tyler was in front of right now.

Kent walked to me and held onto my arm that didn't have the gun. I could feel his fear through his hand as he shook violently, and I felt horrible that I couldn't stop it yet since Tyler may miss me and just hit Kent if he shot, and if I shot, Tyler would undoubtedly shoot in hops of hitting one of us. Either way, we were stuck it seemed.

“Play the game,” Kent whispered to me as he kept his eyes trained on Tyler and his gun which was resting at his sides. But both of us agreed silently that he was dangerous and had very fast reflexes, making him a scary opponent in quick draw match. “I have my phone, so I can get the police here really fast, the police station is only ten minutes away from here. All we have to do is hide until they get here.”

“But if you talk on the phone, then it'll alert Tyler as to where we are,” I growled, not wanting to take a chance if Kent's life was at stake.

“I'm waiting for an answer still,” Tyler smirked, his face looking like an evil clown in the moonlight.

“We've almost decided,” Kent said firmly, shooting daggers at Tyler. The look that he sent Tyler was extremely menacing, probably the most malicious that I'd ever seen Kent; and I like it, but now was not the time to fantasize about Kent when we still had to get out of this damn warehouse.

“Wait a second,” Kent said to me, a grin crossing his face. “My parents gave Paul a cell phone for emergencies; I'll text him what he needs to tell the police, and then he can get the police here for us without Tyler being suspicious! You have your phone, right?”

I nodded, and as ridiculous as it sounded for me to trust both my life along with my boyfriend's life in the hands of my eight-year old brother, I knew that this was the only option. And besides, Paul is a really smart kid, I just hope he can say everything right to the operator and that his phone had enough service wherever he was tonight...and more importantly, that he was awake.

I nodded again, understanding that Kent's plan made enough sense where it very well should work.

I looked Tyler in the eyes and shouted, “We'll play, but we need a five minute head-start, since you're so great at hide-and-go-seek,” I added the last part, remembering how in crime shows, the criminal was more likely to comply if they were being flattered in some way.

“Well, since you're right about that, sure, why not? It makes it more fun for me,” Tyler shrugged his shoulders.

I slipped my gun into my pocket after turning the safety on and holding onto Kent's hand.

“Ready, set, go!” Tyler called, covering his eyes with his hands as he still kept wearing his creepy smile.

I immediately pulled Kent towards the stairs that I had seen earlier in a dark, obscure corner of the warehouse with hope that Tyler might not think to look up if he couldn't find us on the ground.

I handed Kent my phone and as Kent texted away, he was relying on me to not let him hit anything while he sent a detailed text to my brother.

I heard a small little 'ping' noise a little bit later from my phone and looked at Kent who sighed as he slipped his phone into my pocket and massaged his fingers.

“I sent it to Paul, so all we have to do is hope that Tyler doesn't see or find us before the police find us in here,”

“Or, I can just shoot him if it takes too long,” I said, trying to keep Kent and myself remotely optimistic about our odds.

We were scaling the stairs and were almost to the second floor when we heard the words that we never wanted to hear, but were waiting for them regardless.

“Ready or not here I come!” Tyler's voice echoed like the place was a cave, allowing us to easily hear him from our current position.

I kissed Kent lightly on the lips as we stopped behind a cracked box on the second floor with a view of the entire first floor underneath us. “I love you Kent, no matter what happens tonight,”

Kent smiled at me too and kissed me as well, whispering, “I love you too, Cole, and I always will,”

All we could do now was outplay the player until the police arrived.

So, aren't I mean? Making you wait longer for what happens next... Well, yeah, Tyler's a real psycho isn't he? At least he likes hide-and-go-seek a lot. But, he's really, really good at it too.  And yes, you'll see the text that Kent sent Paul next time, don't worry, as long as his phone is on, right?

So, vote and comment if you like this story. Simple.

But more importantly, thank you for taking the time to read this story. I really enjoy writing this, and I'll continue to do so until it's finished. Although, I may take a break to try writing something else sometimes, but I will always finish what I start, no matter how hard it is.
