Ch. 37 Invasion of Vale (Spider-Man)

VNN Main Company Broadcast Building

Y/n Pov

Spider-Man: Otto, what have you done?

Doc Ock: What's necessary Y/n.

I was about to ask for Clarification but I hold that thought when all the TV screen in town, shut off for a few seconds before powering back on showing those annoying color bars, along with its trademark white noise coming out of the speakers, but then all of a sudden they all show a black queen chess piece with a red background.

T.V.: Hello everyone, allow me to introduce myself my name is Salem.

Salem, That's a creepy name, I think it's time I got some answers from the Doctor Octopus himself.

Spider-Man: *Walks to Otto* Otto what are you and Norman doing!? Who is Salem!?

Doc Ock: Well due to our past friendship, I feel inclined to answer.

Oh how very thoughtful of you Doc.

Doc Ock: Salem is the one fighting Ozpin in this war and it's only a matter a time before their conflict destroys the entire world.  Norman just wants to bring peace to it, but you can't have peace without bloodshed, and with the Technovore Virus we installed in the Atlas Mainframe well will do just that.

Oh god with the Virus in those Robots, and prison inmates free, the fallout will be catastrophic.

Spider-Man: You're a monster.

Doc Ock: Yes, but sometimes you need a monster to fight other monsters, like Ozpin and Salem.

So if what Otto says is true then that can't be Salem on the TV if she and Ozpin have been fighting for how long he says it makes no sense as to why she would publicly threaten him like this.

Spider-Man: But what does Norman have to gain by pretending to be Salem?

Doc Ock: Oh that would be telling you to much Y/n.

Spider-Man: Come on Otto I beat you, you can just withhold information.

Doc Ock: Well, unlike you *Reaches into a secure pocket and pulls out a spare control chip* I bring backups of my equipment.

He then quickly inserts it into the back of the control panel of the arms. turning them back on again.

He then grabs my neck and chest with his arms and pins me to the roof,

Spider-Man: Ack!

Doc Ock: I wish I could stick around, but unfortunately I have another matter to attend to.

Otto then grabs my left web shooter and crushes it in his grip.  He then throws me across the roof and starts to run the other way making great speed with his four arms.

Spider-Man: OW!

As I get up and collect my barrings I hear the cries of people in the city, in the distance, and I look down to see Atlas robots on the march toward those cries, then I hear maniacal laughter coming from the skies, I look only to see the Goblin flying around on his glider.  I have to stop this, and the first step would be purging those bucket heads of the Technovore virus, and there is only one person that can do that.

3rd Pov

He gets up, looks around and sees Otto about three buildings away and moving, so on instinct, he makes a thwiping gesture with his hand. But soon remembers that they where both destroyed. He then shakes his head in annoyance.

Spider-Man: Oh come on! Well, guess I am doing this the old fashioned way.

He then proceeds to run after Otto, and the chase begins.  The two of them are leaping across buildings.  The Doctor attempts to slow him down by grabbing chunks of the roof and throwing them at Y/n, but it doesn't faze Y/n as he just dodges them or jumps off of them.

Spider-Man: You are going to have to do better than that Doc!

Doc Ock:*Flustrated*  Agh!

Spider-Man is now gaining on the Doctor.

Spider-Man: Just a little....more.

Soon enough Y/n gets close enough to grab onto Otto's arms and disable them but knows this is his only chance to do so.

Spider-Man: *Frantic* OK Y/n you got this, you got this, you got this, you got this...*Jumps* You...

In the middle of his jump someone tackles him from the side.

Spider-Man: Ack!

This sends them flying a few feet as they crash through the roof of Juniors now abandoned club landing on the dance floor on opposite sides, after a few seconds they both start to slowly get up

Spider-Man: *Groggy* Uh I don't got this.

Scorpion: No you don't, little bug, and this time I will smash you.

Spider-Man: Oh no I recognize that lack of vocabulary. *looks across the room* Scorpion.

Scorpion: That's right, bug.

Spider-Man: Okay first of all technically Spiders aren't bugs, and second what are you even doing her shouldn't you be with Raven?

Scorpion: She put me on duty watching you but thankfully our four-armed friend gave me a better deal, and all I have to do is kill you.

He then jumps and tries to strike Spidey with his tail, but he dodges it grabs his tail and throws him at the DJ stand which causes the lights to go on and this song to play. Before Scorpion gets up he webs him to the ground

Spider-Man: I don't mean to be rude Mac but I don't have time for this I got people to save.

He starts to run to the exit when the doors burst open, as Kraven walks in with two metal sickles and a wooden spear with a metal arrowhead, and Mac rips out of the webs and they close in on Spidey getting him to the center of the club. Having two enemies on both sides of him kept Y/n on his toes.

Spider-Man: Kraven I'm surprised to see you here, I never pegged you as a night club person, buuuuut you do dress in leopard pants and a tiger vest with no shirt, so what do I know.

Kraven: *Scoff* How did an ignorant child like you obtain these great powers?

Spider-Man: Believe me I ask myself that exact same question sometimes.

Scorpion: It's about time you showed up, jungle freak.

Kraven: I would watch your mouth unless you want me to add your tail to my collection Gargan.

Spider-Man: Heeey you two know each other? What a coincidence this type of thing never so you guys want to drink *points to bar* or talk to some nice ladies, I already have a girlfriend but I can be your guys' wingman.  I am sure there are women out there who like guys with tiger vests, and psychotic scorpion mercs.

Scorpion: How about we kill you, that sound good?

Spider-Man: That's a good fifth option but let's go through the first four first.

Kraven responds by throwing his spear at him which he barely dodges and it hits the dj set causing it to malfunction and then plays a song over the speakers on a loop.

Spider-Man: *Exited* Oh I love this song!

Scorpion then stickes Y/n with claw hangs connecting one hit and slicing across his chest, leaving a scratch on his armor, but dodges the second jab,  Kraven then swings his weapon at but he ducks and sweeps his feet causing Kraven to fall to the floor then Scorpion kicks the kneeling Y/n and sends him flying a few feet but he recovers.

He is about to counter-attack but his heads up displays show Incoming call form My Beautiful Dandylion.

Spider-Man: It's Yang better answer, oh I hope she is OK.

Spider-Man: *Punches Mac, and flip kicks Kraven* Hey Sweetie!

Yang(call): *Relieved* Baby are you alright?!

Spider-Man: *Dodging Mac's tail* Oh...woah...yeah...*Kraven hits leg with his weapon*...everything is...*Scorpion grabs him with his tail and slams him against a wall* fiiiiine.

Yang(call): *skeptical* It really doesn't sound like it.

Spider-Man: *Get's free* Well..I...maaaaaay...*Barely dodges Kraven's swings at him with his sickles* have just happened to run into the Scorpion, and Kraven, and the two of them...became instant best friends. I mean they have so much in common they both, like wonton soup, long walks at the beach, making vague angry comments on social media, *swing kicks Scorpion in the head* aaaaaaaand they both want to kill me.

Yang(call): *worried/frantic* Oh God where are you!?

Spider-Man: *Kneed in the stomach my Kraven and walked in the head by Mac's tail* At...Juniors old club.

Yang(call): *worried* We will be there as soon as possible.

Spider-Man: No,*Punches Kraven 3 times*  don't worry about me, *Roundhouse kicks Mac* just focus on getting these people out of the city!

Then Scorpion swings his tail at his head breaking part of his built his Spidey Phone in his mask.

Yang(call): Y/n *static* can you h... *static*

Spider-Man: Can you hear me Just Get these people to safety, did you get that babe, babe?

Yang(call): *static* B....*stactic* B...*line goes dead*

Spider-Man: Oh come on!

Kraven: Your concern for others is admirable *swings at arm taking off a piece of his armor* but you should focus on me.

Scorpion: Or me!

Scorpion then jumps and almost hits him with his stinger but Y/n dodges and it hits the ground.

Spider-Man: Hey you sure you two won't be better of fighting each other instead of me *Rips speaker off the wall and throws it at Scorpion sending him crashing into a wall.*

Kraven: You know me I like a challenge.

Spider-Man: OK let me give you one.

He jumps off the wall and kicks Kraven, and hits him with a series of quick punches, before the hunter swings at him multiple times but Y/n does many acrobatic jumps and dodges. and uppercuts him with his foot causing Kraven to stumble and fall.

Upon seeing Kraven knocked out, the thinks it's over and takes a minute to catch his breath.

Spider-Man: Oh man I gotta *looks to see Scorpion is not where he left him* oh you got to be kidding me.

Scorpion then swings from the rafter kicking Y/n back into the DJ stand cutting the music.

Spider-Man: Aw? Now we have no battle music.

Mac then rushes to him and grabs his throat.

Spider-Man: *choking* But I get the sense that you don't care.

Scorpion: I am going to enjoy this far more than I should, any last words.

Spider-Man: *choking* I got a few on my mind, uh you got a pen?!

Scorpion: Hehehe

He is about to strick but then a red blur bust through the club doors, and goes quickly goes dashes behind Scorpion, this confuses him for a bit then his whole tail falls off, and drops Y/n in pain, and Y/n falls to his knees with his right hand on his throat gasping for air.

Scorpion: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! What the hell just...

Just then Spider-Man gets his second wind uppercutting Mac knocking him out.

Ruby: Hey are you OK.

She walks next to him.

Spider-Man: Yeah thanks, Ruby.

Ruby then hugs him for a few seconds before letting go

Ruby: I am really glad you're OK.

Spider-Man: I am really glad to see you are OK Ruby, how are the others?

Ruby: We're all fine, they are on their way here now.

Spider-Man: Good, we need a plan of attack, we need...

Kraven: To die.

They look to see Kraven awake and walking toward them.

Ruby: Is that the guy who almost took down Pyrrah?

Spider-Man:  Yeah, stay back, I will end this.

Ruby: No you aura it's going to take both of us to stop him.

Spidey did not want Ruby to get hurt, but he knew that Ruby was going to fight no matter what, and he has seen her improve over the year.

Spider-Man: *sigh* Alright but do not let your guard down, he is dangerous.

Ruby: Yeah *Unleashes Cresent Rose* well so are we.

Spider-Man: Heh, you know you are pretty good at these quips Ruby, we should compare notes after all this is over.

Kraven charges at Ruby using her weapons gun mode at a distance while Y/n fights him hand to hand, but impressively he is able to keep up with both of them, dodging most of Ruby's bullets, and matching Y/n blow for blow, he then throws on a weapon at Cresent Rose knocking it out of Ruby's hands and then kicks Y/n in the stomach knocking him into the wall, but he quickly gets up and throws a punch at Kraven but he blocks it with his left forearm and jabs him in the face multiple time it hurt a little though due to it being made of metal, causing Kraven's knuckles to bleed, but this didn't deter him at all he just kept punching, Ruby tries to fend off Kraven but he kicked her away like she was nothing.  Eventually, Kraven finished his quick jabs with an uppercut, sending him to his knees.  Spidey then gets a warning on his Hud that says Suit Protection Leval Critical, Aura Leval Mid. But He gets back on his knees and is ready to keep fighting Kraven laughs as his will, but is soon shut up by Yang who seemly came out of nowhere and knocked Kraven through the back wall.

Y/n Pov

Oh, Yang, I have never been so happy to see you!

Spider-Man: I *pant* thanks *pant* that was starting to get...

she cuts me off by giving him a big hug which I return, what kind of monster would deny the woman he loves a hug, uh anyway, we eventually stop hugging but she doesn't let me go just yet.

Yang: *Looks at new suit* You have been busy.

Spider-Man: Yeah its not perfect but the best I could do on short notice.

Yang: And you said that you wouldn't look good in yellow.

Spider-Man: Heh, yeah I was thinking of you when making it *looks at yellow spider symbol* shows huh.

I am glad she could not see me blushing under the mask.

Yang: *giggles* Yeah.

Oh, it's so good to see her amidst all this chaos.

Spider-Man: I am glad you're all safe, and thanks for the help, Ruby.

Ruby: Anytime.

Blake: So Y/n what happened at the station.

Spider-Man: It's...a long story, needless to day Otto just wanted to broadcast that message, which I am sure was ready to play as soon as he let me beat him, fighting me was just to keep me as well as everyone else distracted, form the prison break.

Ruby: So where is he now?

Spider-Man: He got away, it's a long story.

Weiss: What about the broadcast made by Salem?

Spider-Man: No that wasn't Salem!

RWBY: You know who Salem is?

Spider-Man: Eh, sort of Otto gave me the cliff notes version, but That Wasn't Her, It Was Norman That Was Him Talking!

Blake: Wait how do you know that?

*BOOM* *RUMBLE*

Just then an explosion happens outside that causes the ground to shake

Spider-Man: I know it's a really overdone cliche but I don't have time to explain, all that matters now is you getting these people out of this city.

Yang: Us? What about you?

I got to find Norman, but my aura levels are in the yellow, and I don't know how much more damage my suit can take, but I have to do this it is my responsibility, I can't let anyone else get hurt.

Spider-Man: Well Norman is out flying on his glider wearing his Grinch cosplay, and I believe its time for round two.

Yang: Wait!

She pulls hands out the web shooters she grabbed back at the dorm and offers them to Y/n.

Spider-Man: Oh I Love you. *Grabs and attaches web shooters*

Yang: *Lustful smile* I know.

Did she just quote Empire!?  Oh, that is sooooo hot!

Weiss: What if we can't do this, we are just simple students how are we supposed to save a whole city!?

Save the whole city that's not how you do this hero thing at all Weiss.

Spider-Man: Well there is your problem right there.

They all turn to me.

Spider-Man: You can't think about saving the whole city you have to think about saving one person, girls just think about someone you love.

For me, that's the four of you and JNPR you guys have become my new family, and I will forever be grateful for that.

RWBY: Thanks.

Spider-Man: *nods* Good luck, I will see you after all this is over.

I wave, and exits through a hole in the ceiling made during his fight earlier. I then swing to the top of the roof.

Timeskip

I have been swinging across the city looking for Goblin and helping people along the way and directing them to the evacuation point where RWBY is.

Spider-Man: Damn, how hard is it to find a green flying elf.

Just then I see Goblin flying away after destroying an Atlas airship, that starts to fall into the river.

Spider-Man: Got ya.

I get ready to go and catch him, but then

BOOM

Off in the distance, I can see a couple of buildings have caught on fire, and with my enhanced hearing, I heard people calling for help. I got to go an help them first.  I swing to the direction of the buildings as quickly as I can, and I eventually end up on the roof.  And I look for life sings, but I am only getting two on the ground floor of one building, and a third running in that direction. so I jump to a lamp post to get a better look and...wait.

Spider-Man: YANG!?

Oh my GOD yeah that's Yang, I was about to get her attention but she activates her semblance and launches herself into the burning building.

Spider-Man: Yang Wait!

I jump down to street level and look through an opening where a door used to be, where I see Blake on the ground, a guy with a sword, and Yang flying in his direction about to punch him, and then...

SLICE

All of a sudden it was as if time slowed down, as I watched her arm fly off.  For a minute, I could not believe what I was seeing it was as if the whole world turned upside down.  A surge of different emotions ran through me at once, denial, sorrow, pain, and anger. And I used that anger to swing kick that Bastard as hard as I could.  Then Iand on my feet and run over Yang and web up her wound, and I fall to his knees, shaking, and crying, as I hold her to my chest.  How could I let this happen, she is the love of my life her why wasn't I here to stop this.

Spider-Man: *whispers* I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.

Blake walks to us, and that's when I realize that Blake has a wound on her left abdomen.

Spider-Man: Blake! *Webs up her wound from both sides and hugs her*

Blake hugs me back before we break off, I'm really sorry I wasn't there for you either Blake, what kind of hero can't protect his friends and girlfriend.  I pick up Yang and carefully hand her to Blake.

Spider-Man: Please get her out of here!

She puts Yang's left arm over her shoulder.

Blake: What about Adam?

I turn around to see that jackass slowly getting up.

Spider-Man: *Cracks his Knuckles* I'll handle him.

Blake: But...

Spider-Man: Blake Please get her and yourself to safety.

I stroke Yangs hair then looks a blake again.

Spider-Man: Please.

I could tell Blake was hesitant at first, but eventually, she agrees and leaves with Yang, and I turn my attention to the bastard who cut her arm off.

3rd Pov

Adam: So you're the Spider-Man?

Spider-Man: *angry* Oh no that's another guy last name Shit Sherlock first name No.

Adam picks up on his angry tone and connects some dots.

Adam: The blonde woman, you where close.

Spider-Man: *Angry* Yang! Her name is Yang.

Adam: *Honest* I'm sorry, it wasn't personal.

Spider-Man: *Angry*  It was for me!

He then spins a web to his sword and yanks it out of his grasp and throwing it into the fire. Then spins two webs on the wall behind Adam to launch himself foward and land one powerful punch on Adam, and without pausing he grabs Adam by the throat with his left arm and begins rapidly punch him in the face with his right fist.  This goes on for several seconds Y/n just keeps punching Adam in the face in rapid succession, eventually breaking his mask.  Seeing Adams unmasked bruised face he stops and looks at his hand horrified at what he did.

Spider-Man: What am I doing!?

But Then suddenly he is taken by the Goblin on his Glider and Flies Spider-Man to an abandoned apartment building and throws him through the window.  Spidey is slow to get up but when he does, he makes eye contact with the green-skinned maniac.

Spider-Man: *Angry*  Osborn.

Green Goblin: Heheheeh, well not always, I mean I am some times hehehehe.

Spider-Man: *Angry* So this was your plan all along destroy Vale, and blame it on this, this Salem person.

Green Goblin: Oh that is only step one, Y/n.

Spider-Man: *Angry* Step one, what else do you plan to do?

Green Goblin: Oh that would be giving to much away to soon, but you will put the pieces together yourself in time, but due to you making it this far I will give you a preview of what's to come.

He then pulls out a trigger and presses the Button and the Amity Colosseum starts to move in the direction of Vale.

Spider-Man: What the arena.

Green Goblin: Do you really think Otto entered the Arena from the bottom for dramatic effect, no he planted a bomb on what makes, that Colosseum float.  Something that would not have been possible if Ironwood's tin cans were still providing security, all I had to do was pay my men to look the other way as Otto made his grand entrance, then kill them to ensure they won't talk.

Spider-Man: So, The attack on the ballroom providing the Vytal Tournament security, killing Sun and Scarlet, and the attack on Vale was all just to get here?

Green Goblin: Exactly and when that thing falls out of the sky bye bye Vale.

Spider-Man: If you think I will let you...

Goblin interrupts him by taking out another trigger and pressing that button. to set off explosives attached to the colors causing the ceiling to drop on Y/n's head trapping him.  And the Goblin just laughs, jumps out a window lands on his glider and flies away.

A few seconds pass before a barely conscious Y/n takes out his normal phone and calls Jaune.

Ring

Click

Jaune: *fighting* Y/n oh god are you OK I was...

Spider-Man: Colosseum...

Spider-Man: S...stop...co...colosseum......*looses consciousness*

Timeskip

The rubble is being lifted off of him and Y/n starts to regain consciousness once more, as the moonlight shines on him, and a silhouette standing over him offering him a hand up.

???: You Ok

Spider-Man: Illia? *grabs hand*

Indeed it was he realized as she moved him from under the rubble to a comfortable seating position.

Spider-Man: W...why a...are you.

Illia: You did the same for me, I guess I am just paying off an old debt.

Spider-Man: T...thank...you.

She smiles at him in response.

Spider-Man *cough* *cough* The Arena!

Illia: It's OK someone managed to get in there and stop it from reaching the city, and instead of having it fall into the water. No casualties.

He turns his head to see that she is telling the truth and that the once flying arena is destroyed in the water.

Spider-Man: J...NPR....I...knew...they....can.

Soon though he sees Green Goblin fly into the arena.

Spider-Man: *worried* Oh no.
