Chapter 1032
Married at First Sight
He had probably just arrived and seeing the shop was not open, he stood at the door for a moment before turning to leave Once he turned around he saw Liberty approaching as she rode the e-bike with her son.
âLiberty!â Hank Brown shouted.
Hearing her ex-husbandâs shout, Liberty had the impulse to make a U-turn and leave.
Her ex-husband and his family simply seemed to keep haunting her.
She had never seen Hank so concerned about her and her son even before they had divorced.
The little guy sitting in front, however, was very happy when he saw his father and yelled, âDaddy.â
Liberty did not turn her bike around and leave in the end. She had not done anything wrong, after all.
She did not need to feel guilty.
Hank walked down the steps and waited for the mother and son to reach him.
âSonnyâ
Liberty parked the e-bike and Hank walked forward to carry his son down from the childâs seat He asked Sonny, smiling. âSonny, did you miss Daddy?â
âI did.â
Hank lowered his head to kiss his sonâs cheek and Sonny kissed his cheek in return.
After the affectionate moment between the father and son, Hank asked Liberty, âWere you busy today?
I came by a few times but your shop wasnât open.â
He did not dare call Liberty.
Liberty did not like receiving calls from him.
Liberty was expressionless as she walked up the steps and asked him, âWhy are you looking for me?
Are you still trying to get me to transfer ownership of the shop to you? Or are you trying to borrow money from me on your sisterâs behalf?â
Carrying his son, Hank followed Liberty into the shop after she unlocked the door.
âYour breakfast place opens the day after tomorrow, right?â Hank asked as he looked around the shop.
and indiscriminately found somewhere to sit.
Liberty said to him, âHank Brown, just tell me frankly what you came here for But if you want my shop or want me to lend your sister money to start a business, the doorâs right there. Go back to wherever you. came from. If you came to see Sonny, then you should take Sonny shopping. Heâs almost three and as his father, youâve never taken him shopping.â
Hank hurriedly said, âLiberty, Iâm not here to borrow money from you. Whether or not my sister has money, Iâm very aware that in the past when I had high earnings, I didnât have to care what my sister did. Since we were young, my parents told us siblings that we would be family for the rest of our lives and had to love each other.
âNow, Iâm not working and I donât have any income. I still need whatever savings I have left to pay wedding. Thereâs no way Iâll lend it to my sister if she still tries to ask me for money.â
Liberty said mockingly, âHow rare! Mr. Brown still has moments of clarity. I thought you would continue enabling your sister. It seems Ms. Yates is capable indeed.â
She had been too kind after all.
As a daughter-in-law and a wife, she felt she ought to learn from Jessica. Although Jessica was the third wheel who had managed to successfully become the new lady of the house, she was aggressive enough with Hank and knew how to cry, pout, and pretend that she was aggrieved, making Hank unconsciously biased in her favor.
When it came to a malicious mother-in-law and a trashy sister-in-law, Jessica did not give even an inch and would not enable Chelseaâs behavior of taking advantage of her maiden family.
Hankâs face was a little red. He did in fact enable his sister a lot in the past and was very obedient towards her, which was how his relationship with Liberty worsened until they ended up divorcing.
âJessica⦠has a lot of flaws too. There are many areas in which she canât compare to you.â
Hank only realized the flaws in Jessica after moving in together.
âAnyway, letâs not talk about that. Liberty, Iâve ordered flowers for your shopâs opening.â
Hank was thoroughly annoyed by his wife and his motherâs arguing, which was why he had come to Libertyâs diner for some peace and quiet. Ordering flowers to congratulate her on her new shopâs opening was merely an excuse.
