Chapter 1051
Married at First Sight
Zachary responded faintly, âNana, didnât you say Iâm bad at cooking?â
âYou are, but Iâm your nana. As bad as your food tastes, Iâll honor you so youâll have some confidence.â
Zachary was speechless.
Ring, ring, ringâ¦
His phone rang, so he answered it to remove himself from bickering with his nana. He had never been able to win arguments against her.
âZachary, Iâm at the entrance of your neighborhood, but I canât enter without an access card. Duncan is here too. He said he has been waiting for half an hour.â
It was Kevin who called.
Their nana informed them in their family group chat last night that everyone in Wiltspoon had to return to the manor today.
Serenityâs elders were going to visit for the first time, so the others had to be home to welcome them as a form of respect toward her.
After all, Serenity would be the wife of the head of their family in the future. Her authority should be established bit by bit.
âYou came real quick.â
Zachary added indifferently, âIâll ask Jim to go out and bring you in.â
It was still early, so neither Jim nor Mrs. Lane had gone to All You Can Eat to help out yet.
âOkay.â
Kevin was sensible enough to not say much after being told by his big brother that he came over quickly. After their call ended, he wound down the window to prop his hand on the car door and asked Duncan, who was in the car opposite his, âDuncan, Zachary asked me to send breakfast over, so itâs fine for me to come early. Why did you come so early as well? You even came earlier than me.
âHe just praised me for coming really fast, as if he wanted me to come at eight oâclock. How come you have to wait though? Tell me, how did you offend him?â
Duncan cleared his throat and answered honestly, âMy mom invited her friendâs daughter to stay at my place and wants to set me up with her. She initially asked me to accompany Ms. Harmon the whole of today, but I donât want to, so I said your brother had asked me to join him for a barbecue today. I just said that off the top of my head.
âMy mom didnât want to give up and wanted me to bring Ms. Harmon along. I told her that your brother doesnât like the presence of young women apart from his close ones and managed to stop Ms. Harmon from coming along. In other words, I used your brother as a shield, so he made me wait here for half an hour.â
Kevin laughed and said, âNo wonder he suddenly said he wanted to bring Serenity back to the manor for a barbecue. It turns out that it was your idea. Even so, he wouldnât go so far as to make you wait here. You came too early-half an hour early. Heâs a man with a wife, and yet you came early in the morning to disturb their sleepâ¦â
Duncan responded, âI didnât think that far.â
He only thought that his mom would not insist on asking him to accompany Lily if he came to find Zachary.
Kevin laughed out loud.
Out of his big brotherâs best friends, one was mischievous and crafty, while the other was straightforward and honest.
Soon after, Jim appeared at the entrance.
He brought the two of them inside.
Ten minutes later, Kevin pressed the doorbell. The tall Duncan was rather guilty after being pointed out by Kevin, so he shrunk behind Kevin.
Serenity came to open the door.
âSerenity.â
Kevin greeted her while entering the house. âZachary asked me to send breakfast over.â
âS⦠Ms. Hunt.â
Duncan almost called her by her first name as Kevin did. He changed the term of address after coming back to his senses.
âKevin, Mr. Lewis.â
